HelloNewman Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I found out he is going to be at the Landmark theatre in Syracuse on 12/11 and I went through ticketmaster and got pretty good seats but they are selling fast....... Anybody else besides me think he is funny?
bill in Livonia Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I can swear at you and save you the money.
Surfmeister Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I have seen him LIVE many times. He is an American Treasure. I hope you have a great time!
gflande1 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Just got mine. My wife and I will be sitting in the balcony (2nd row)
Grant Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I can swear at you and save you the money. 120328[/snapback] If you think that's why George Carlin is funny, you OBVIOUSLY have never, ever, ever seen him perform or read any of his work. The man is brilliant.
bartshan-83 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I love Carlin. My buddies all saw him last year while I was out of town :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: and I really regret not having made it happen myself. Comic genius and legend in his own time.
BRH Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I think it was Jon Stewart who termed the "Holy Trinity of Comics" as being Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and George Carlin. I couldn't agree more. Every comic owes much of his material (and most of his paycheck) to at least one, if not more, of these three guys.
LasBillz Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Be sure to buy a T-shirt- "When the going gets tough, the tough get f__ked".
Guest Guest Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Are you guys nuts? I cannot stand the man. His ultra-liberal, socialist political views, which he disguises as "comedy" to spew out, are anti-American. Truly disgusting that he has a following as large as it is. The guy is a socialist. Guaranteed in that show: He'll bash our President, our foreign affairs, our involvement in Iraq, our military and our history. The guy should move to the Middle East or a communist country if he thinks we are doing so much wrong or bad here.
MikeInRoch Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I saw him three times in a 5 year span several years ago. The first time was great, the second time was ok, and I didn't like the third time at all. Most of the problem was that he really didn't seem to have any new material. His old material was outragously funny - but not after having seen it already.

Regardless of political view. He doesn't vote for anyone and says so over and over. That way, he can't be blamed for screwing everything up. Don't let facts get in the way of a good rant, though.

He is an ultra-liberal 60's hippie, with very pro-socialist views.

Carlin has made it a point, for years, of saying that he does not vote...as ultra-liberal, 60's hippie, pro-socialist as that may be! This will kill you, I have tickets to see Bill Maher Thursday! You would probably have a stroke at a show like that. I plan on having a good laugh!

If you don't like what someone has to say, well then by golly, they must be "unAmerican" and should have to live in the Middle East. Hey, why don't you go start up the HUAAC again, there, buddy? You seem qualified!

Whether he's a socialist hippy or not, he's not involved in the political process in the least. Pulling the stick out of your butt might help you understand his humor.

Part of that is freedom of speech. And while Carlin is free to spout off about how messed up/bad we are, then I'm free to say that his show is garbage. And unfortunately, you guys are free to vote. I can tell by your responses that you clowns did not like the results of the recent elections! "Here I am minding my business, and our idiot (kicker) site posters got liquored up and started running their mouths (keyboards) off. . ."
JAMIEBUF12 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 saw george carlin last friday night at the mid hudson civic center!

His show is a bit political but he rips everything stupid. By no means a conservative bashing liveral love-fest.

I hope to god he comes back alive. I still think George Carlin is pretty funny and thought provoking at the same time. My nephew likes him to. You are the one who made this into a political commentary....whoever you are!
