The Poojer Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 what a shame, whatever is going on in his head must be pretty big...fighting back the way he did to get re-instated into school...the team didn't even reveal why he was suspended last game...he must have some serious crap going on right now to throw it away like this...hope he can get himself straight.
stuckincincy Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Wow! I know he was sat down the game before they played Cincy. Violating team rules, I think. He played Saturday; I watched the game. He wasn't a factor, in what turned out to be very good effort by the Orange. 28 - 7. Bad call by the refs on Cincy's botched fg that ended up in a td - IMO there were OLs down field. SYR got screwed. I wonder what's going on with Williams?
PromoTheRobot Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Let Turner Gill work with the kid. We could use someone to take over for Roosevelt when he graduates. PTR

inkman Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Let Turner Gill work with the kid. We could use someone to take over for Roosevelt when he graduates. PTR He's a senior, his eligibility has expired. He's declaring for the draft. He only had to play football another month before he would have been a first day pick, now you have to wonder if he'll get drafted at all. It makes you wonder what the hell is going on in the kids life.

Steely Dan Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 http://media.www.dailyorange.com/media/sto...m-3820013.shtml Williams was recently named one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the nation's top receiver at the end of the season. He is expected to declare for this year's NFL Draft. He's a senior, his eligibility has expired. He's declaring for the draft. He only had to play football another month before he would have been a first day pick, now you have to wonder if he'll get drafted at all. It makes you wonder what the hell is going on in the kids life. This is really sad. For him to do this now he must be very troubled. I wonder what happened to make him leave the program now? As you stated he's lost millions of dollars due to his leaving. I hope he can work out his problems and come back strong. If it's a family emergency it might not blot his draft status that much. What the hec is the problem with players named Mike Williams?
linksfiend Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 The name must be cursed. First the POS OT we drafted in the first round in 2002. Now this guy.

It makes you wonder what the hell is going on in the kids life. I have a feeling that a 6'2", 210 lb speed receiver with hops and hands will get drafted somewhere similar to where he would've, provided he performs at the combine and is professional in his interviews. Let's be honest, absurd talent only slips so far before Mel Kiper changes his tune from "risk" to "value." It's disturbing that he quit on his team (after already having some discipline/academic issues previously) but a college degree and a team-first attitude have NEVER been a prerequisite for the NFL.

No but this level of desertion on his behalf is nearly unprecedented by a sure fire draft pick. He could have left the team for personal reasons without "leaving the program". You have to think the kid is just not in a good place mentally. If he had put any thought into this decision, it could have went a hundred different ways. You have to wonder who his support system is. We all have family & friends we use to help with tough times and difficult decisions. Where was his? It's very hard to understand.
inkman Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 The name must be cursed. First the POS OT we drafted in the first round in 2002. Now this guy. Lest we not forget USC's Mike Williams, the other loser with that moniker.
The Poojer Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 saw this in the comments section of Syracuse.com related to 3 other players being suspended, Bailey, Tiller and Ball...related to the Williams issue The players went to the Casino, a direct viloation of team rules. They were then involved in a minor auto accident The casino story is true. Depending on who you talk to, the boys either got run off the road by a semi-truck or......had a bit too much to drink and veered off the road.
inkman Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 saw this in the comments section of Syracuse.com related to 3 other players being suspended, Bailey, Tiller and Ball...related to the Williams issue This as well: Here's the word on about Mike Williams from a source that can confirm nor deny this: Saturday night after the Cincinnati loss, Coach Marrone indicated that he wanted all the players to stay on campus that evening. Well allegedly, Williams went out with some friends to the Turning Stone casino(35 minute drive from Syracuse). Apparently, while out at the casino, his "entourage" was in a minor traffic accident, and that it had appeared that a few people in that vehicle had been drinking. When Coach Marrone got word of what happened, he was apparently incensed & planned to suspend Williams for a second time this year for breaking team rules. (His 1st suspension was for the Akron game a couple of weeks ago, allegedly for failing to show up for class. He was also kicked out of school in June 2008 for academic fraud after getting caught cheating twice.) And when told of his possible suspension, Williams allegedly told Coach Marrone to "F" off & said that he quit. If that's true, then he gets whatever he deserves. Moron.
