Sisyphean Bills
...and besides that who cares. When two **** teams take pride on who beats who it's laughable to anyone else concerned. Well, there is that. OTOH, it is morbidly fascinating to compare the two teams and coaches over the last 4 years (Jauron and Kubiak both getting their present positions the same year). Both teams have been mediocre the last 3 years, with the Texans having 1 more win than the Bills in 3 seasons. However, it looks like the Texans are on the verge of breaking out of the mediocre middle and maybe even becoming a playoff team. They have a QB, a truly great WR in his prime, a great TE, some studs on defense, etc. Compare that to Jauron's Bills, who are worse now offensively than they were in his first year, and that despite having Terrell Owens. The defense could be argued to be worse since it is pathetic against the run. And, the special teams have gone way down as well.
Mr. WEO
No. Jauron should be gone. And Ryans shouldn't be laughing so hard. Kubiak is a schlub. But a decent season for the Texans means he returns, and they miss-out on one of the plethora of good coaches out there. Today was a lose-win for me. Really? A schlub? Got this team to 5-3 for the first time. Good call, "Doc".
Sisyphean Bills
I hear ya, he really tries to create the illusion that it's a close, well-fought game that the Bills could've/should've won. But how can you execute the basics when the defense knows what's coming, stacks the box and just blows it up? An important part of an offensive gameplan is keeping the defense off balance with decent playcalling. Even if you don't have a big playbook you still need to roll in enough different looks to try and confuse the defense. It's the same thing Dick has done since he got here. Offense isn't going well, so cut things out of it. Don't let the QB audible, no motion for the receivers, little or no playfakes and screens. Let's go straight run plays and settle for a 47 yd field goal into the wind. It blows my mind, this is the freaking NFL, not Jr. High! Then the saddest thing is that the offensive players start talking about how they're not executing and it's on them to execute the plays that are called. It's all just pathetically sad. And I also feel sorry for all 3 of our OC's who signed on to take the fall for Jauron. Yes, exactly. That is the other side of it precisely. You can't do anything too complex because you don't have the players. Because you can't do anything other than remedial pop-gun football, other professional football defenses will be able to shut you down easily, like "it was a pre-season scrimmage." Good defenses can even bait you into playing right into their defense. It's a lose-lose situation.
