Mike Williams lives a few houses down from mine. And I saw him roll past my house yesterday. Good to know he is in town and hopefully he is getting in shape! We need him to step up and be the man on that line this year for JP!

First, I would like to thank Clumping Platelets for the amazing effort that he puts into the issue of the salary cap. You are the man CP!!! The following is from a CP post..... >>>MW cap numbers are: 2005: $9.17 million ($4 million salary, $2.17 million amort. , $3 million roster) 2006: same as 2005 2007: $7.17 million ($5 million salary, $2.17 million amort.) he also has a number of NLTBE's as well that could impact the cap<<< I want to know how this sits with the posters here. Does this border a crisis situation? I was one of his biggest critics, but he DID pick up his game in 04. The way I see it, if he plays as well as Erik Williams did for Dallas before he lost his mind, then he MAY be worth this kind of cap hit. If not, he does NOT deserve to be one of the largest cap hits in the NFL. Either way yes, I have a problem with these numbers. Does anybody else?

just curious to see how folks here view what many believe to be the "greatest rivalry in college sports." my loyalties are obvious; what do you think and/or anyone have a carolina/duke memory to share?

We all know Ricky doesn't care about football anymore. Do you think Ricky put down the bong tonight to watch the big game?

As per the NFL players agreement, RW SHOULD count toward the phish 05 salary cap. Correct so far? Also, a judge ruled that RW owes the dolphins some of his signing bonus money. My question is.....Will the dolphins (or have they already) appeal this to the NFL? Should they be penalized when a judge did rule that RW violated his contract? My guess is that the NFL will negate the cap hit. If this was the Bills by the way, I would doubt that they would do so. Anyway, I think they will get at least some of the cap hit taken away, sign Drew Brees, and cut Fiedler. Any info/opinions would be appreciated.

I think thi smay be in the works. Consider this: Williams is set to make a huge contract next year 9 mill or something. Jennings is set to walk. Jennings was considered by many to be the best LT set to be available in FA. However, there are a few decent RT available. So, logic follows that we could move big Mike to LT and sign one of the RT out there. We then would be playing Mike at LT and he certainly is being paid like an LT. He probably was our best T last year and has upside including nimble feet to play the spot. And the Bills may feel that with Jennings leaving their best LT option may be Mike. As far as RT goes I think we can grab a guy from FA and save money over a LT. I like Stockar McDougle or Kareem McKenzie. The other interesting point here is that the Bills havent forced a restructure of Mikes contract. Is it because they have already planned to move him to LT? Do they feel that your best o-lineman out to be at LT? Do they also feel that their highest paid o-lineman should be an LT? I still think its obscene to pay Mike 9 mill next year even at LT. I guess I am just wondering what the Bills are doing as far as LT goes. They are gonna let Jennings bolt, are starting Losman who will need protection, and havent shown us anything so far to say that they are going to upgrade the position. I just hope that TD doesnt try to go the cheap route and get some guy who turns out to be worse than Jennings. I hope he has a trick up his sleeve. Maybe its a trade for a stud (not Shelton). Maybe its moving Mike. Lets keep our fingers crossed on this one, it could have a huge impact on our season!

I have been letting this sink in for a few days now to come to some sort of opinion. I contend that under any conditions except RT play which resembles that of Erik Williams in his prime, this cap hit is nothing short of a horror show and a literal crisis for the Buffalo Bills football team. Make no mistake, MW played well last season after he came out of his "funk." Not splendid mind you, but he certainly was a better than average RT. Now, 9.17 million dollars???????? Please. This is a higher figure than that of Walter Jones, Orlando Pace and probably even Ogden. Mike Williams has not even approached their level of play. No, not close. This contract, as it stands, will prevent the Bills from signing a prominent free agent. It consists of more than 10% of the Bills entire salary cap allotment. It was a bad move by TD, but he has also made some great moves. I have the feeling that this will be resolved one way or the other before the season. MW seems to have us over a barrel, whereas cutting him would cost us a ton of dead cap money. He also does not have to renegotiate as did Moulds because even if he were to be released (which wont happen), another team will give him a big bonus. I dont know how this will work itself out, but under ANY conditions, a 9.17 cap hit for Big Mike is nothing short of a football "sin!" Any thought on what should/will happen?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...john&id=2066686 Let's say he returns to Miami and serves his 4 game suspention, IMO there's no way in hell that he doesn't test positive during the suspention and blow the 2005 season too. In the article it says that he can be tested as much as 10 times a month. Boy would that not be fun to see? Jeff

What do you think Buffalonians? I think he would look GREAT in green & white! But, I'm not trying to turn this into a quarrel. I seriously am asking what Buffalo homers think will happen w/ Pat Williams and his free agency.

from this mornings buffalo news: "The Bills will save $2 million against this year's salary cap sometime in July by spreading out $3 million in roster bonuses Mike Williams is scheduled to get this summer. That will put his cap figure at $7.46 million and provide a cap cushion. It doesn't look like a more extensive reworking of his contract will happen this year." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- good to finally see some news on this.........draft picks will eat up a large chunk of that extra cash, but with guys like verba and law still available it's nice to know the bills have room to operate if they want to address an area of need....... even if no one else gets added or extended the cap room can always be carried over to future years.........

Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R - San Diego) has stated he will not seek another term, saying he's probably not the strongest candidate anymore. He is under investigation for receiving kickbacks from a government contractor. I don't know if it's true, but from what I've read so far it doesn't look good. Duke is a USN Vietnam war ace and MOH recipient. I was privileged to have the opportunity to watch his debriefings about his kills, as well as the debriefings of USAF's Ace, Steve Ritchie. I came away impressed with both mens' skills, but Steve Ritchie struck me as a lot more humble than Duke, who appeared fairly arrogant (which I would point out was not unfounded bravado. If you know any fighter pilots, an amount of arrogance is a common trait - possibly necessarily so). I don't know, maybe I was just prejudiced in favor of USAF pilots. You remember "Top Gun" - the instructors flying Soviet tactics training our pilots? That was also Duke's job. He's contributed quite a lot to our country, and is one of my heroes for all his accomplishments. It would be a shame if his record is tarnished by a kickback scheme at the end of his career. One of my favorite T-shirts way back then - "F-4 Phantom - the world's largest distributor of MIG parts". Anyone know if that is still true?

I love Katherine Bach but Jessica Simpson is hot as long as she doesn't open her mouth.

I see conflicting reports on Mike Williams. Most including Buffalo Bills Site say that he sat out of evening practice due to a tweaked hamstring: This possibly occured on extra drills. WGR says Mike Williams had a minor back injury. WGR appears to be quoting Mularkey : WGR Hamstring, back or both?

On noes!!

The Man is in great shape... He out ran every other OL at training camp today. The Offensive Squad had to act like every play was going the distance... Mike Williams was blocking 30 yards down field when every other linemam was stopping after 10 yards! He did this on EVERY play!

Any guesses to what kind of shape Mike Williams shows up in? Overweight or in shape?

Vikings | Super Bowl Here We Come: P. Williams Sun, 10 Jul 2005 06:14:11 -0700 Paul J. Letlow, of the News Star, reports Minnesota Vikings DT Pat Williams is very confident of the team's chances in 2005. "Oh, we're going to the Super Bowl," Williams said. "Mark that down. Tell everybody. 'We're going to the Super Bowl.' We'll be in Detroit." The team signed him to clog the middle along with All-Pro DT Kevin Williams. Williams was hurt when the Buffalo Bills did not re-sign him. "It was hard when they decided not to re-sign me," Williams said. "They hurt me some. But management there now isn't good." Williams likes the leadership in Minnesota saying the major free agent acquisitions by the Vikings are all leaders. Williams said he signed with Minnesota for a chance to get "the ring."

What a weapon this would be..... Lions | Project USC's Williams as Tight End - from www.KFFL.com Fri, 8 Apr 2005 14:02:50 -0700 John Czarnecki, of FOXSports.com, reports the Detroit Lions are apparently projecting USC WR Mike Williams as a tight end in the NFL. Some personnel people believe that Williams will be a 245-250-pound player in the league and that he doesn't have the quickness to be a wide receiver.
