Micah Parsons potential drop in draft
Process replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade Edmunds for a 2nd round pick and draft Parsons at 30? I would. I also think the chance of something like that happening are exactly 0%.- 56 replies

Trade out of 30 for 2022 1st?
bigK14094 replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Nobody" isn't correct. Since a rnd 1 pick can be retained for 5 years, there is value if a team wants to retain a certain draft choice for that period of time. The bills have that situation with Tremain Edmunds......he was the second first rounder the same year the Bills got Allen. -
Just Because. (Taron's Pick Six vs. the Ravens)

Edmunds starts out looking good, I was like hey, nice leadership! Then 30 seconds in he gets run over by a 5'11 200 pd WR. -
What position you feel we need the most.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They need 3 front 7 defenders in the draft. An OLB, a DE, and a NT to develop. I would have let Milano walk and move Edmunds to OLB. But that is not happening now. So they need to focus on pass rush. I'm still not sold on Edmunds but at this point I would still pick up fis fifth year option so I can can control the situation. -

It’s edge and I don’t think it’s all that close. Add in a TJ Watt, a Bosa, Brian Burns kinda player will make all the difference in the world to this defense. Corner suddenly isn’t as big of a need, Edmunds and Milano look way better, speed up the clock on a quarterback and make him get rid of the ball in 3 seconds and all our guys will be looking like all pro level players including the old ends and DT’s -
Bills sign DE Efe Obada
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exaclty. Olive, Edmunds, and Epenesa need to play better first and foremost. -
I hear you as an upgrade at DE would've been extremely helpful. I guess you just have to hope the young guys elevate their game this year (Edmunds, Oliver, Epenesa, Knox, Ford, Moss, Singletary, etc.). Upgrade at CB #2 either through the draft or free agency which could help the pass rush. Coaches need to develop a better game plan. Maybe get an official crew that actually isn't afraid to call defensive pass interference.

I agree with you. None has emerged yet. I also think great teams have only a few stars. Bills have two in Allen and Diggs. They need a couple of others to emerge. Oliver is still a candidate. They could use a standout on the oline. But the other thing to remember is that McBeane aren't running a star system. They're running a system like Belichick runs the Patriots. It's a lot of good football players doing their jobs. Other than Brady, the Pats didn't have a lot of studs. Wilfork, I suppose. And the collection of shutdown corners. But by and large, the people who looked like stars in New England were just good players in a great system. Free agents who left New England rarely proved to be stars elsewhere. McBeane are trying to do the same thing. They believe they don't need Oliver to that guy the Rams have, they don't need Edmunds to be Dick Butkus, they don't need Hyde to be Polamalu. They believe in having a lot good players and together being a great team.

Bills restructure Tre White; create cap space
Hapless Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Extremely doubtful. The Josh Allen and Tre' Edmunds works will start with a decision to pick up their 5th round option in early May - May 5th Then it will be an extension, that will impact 2022 at the earliest. Beane won't open his book of strategy to you, but if he says something like "we'll work on resigning Josh Allen's contract this summer or early fall", that's what he means. -
He's got an impressive frame........at 6' 7" for a LB he was a player I was inclined to follow..........but I could never really see where he would be a fit for the Bills. Of course I never thought they would put an edge prospect like Tremaine Edmunds at MLB and then later end up desperate for pass rushers...........so who knows how they would envision his role.

The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
Orlando Buffalo replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Epenesa had no training camp and was an avg end by end of season, Edmunds went to the pro bowl with a bum shoulder for 6 games, Phillips was recovering from a huge injury. All played as expected considering situation. -
The Great Tremaine Edmunds Debate
DCbillsfan replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Listening to Beane today, I came away with the impression they won't be picking up Edmunds 5th year. Too much uncertainty about the cap for 2022. -
The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
colin replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as far as i am concerned, edmunds is better than cunningham, so even if the latter's contract was a bit inflated, based on cap going up and such, he's worth in that context pretty reasonably. -
Rounds 1-3, Stay Put. I don't see the point unless you're talking about a QB or possibly elite edge rusher. Recent trade-ups include Cody Ford, Edmunds, Allen, Zay Jones, and Dawkins. If you've got equal grades on players left from 30 to (say) 38, then consider trading down within that talent band. Round 4: N/A (This is the round where we previously picked Gabe Davis, Taron Johnson, Terrence McGee, Keith Newman, Ken Irvin, Leon Seals as well as some significant underperformers.) Rounds 5 - 7: No real opinion other than don't dismiss these picks. These are interesting picks to me. Do you get the high productivity 3-4 year college starter with limited athleticism or the athletic freak that is raw and lacking football skills? Do not give up 2022 draft picks - especially if 2022 will be a stronger draft class. Keep your powder dry for 2022. When you trade up, you are saying you can better assess players without seeing them in your camp and your system (and in a year when tape and games were limited) than once you get them into camp. Without a 4th, bringing in 7 players is not excessive.

Isn't Breida the "HR hitter"? And as for Edmunds, they've been playing him out of position, hoping to make him what he may never become. -

He said that they will decide on the 5th year options for Josh and Edmunds "after the draft". The draft ends May 1st and the deadline to pick up the options is May 3rd. That is a tight window. Nobody realistically thinks there is a decision to be made with Josh. That is a no-brainer and a slam dunk. He probably couched it that way so as not to tick off Edmunds' camp. JMO -

The talk about planning ahead could be us looking at a replacement for Edmunds as well imo. Add that to the fact they are still thinking about the 5th year options, which you know they're picking up Josh's, and it makes sense. -

I feel there's a decent chance that the 30th pick ends up being at a position that may have Bills fans scratching their heads a bit, as it's not the most immediate "need" and may already have good veterans at that position. Again, though, the cap being lower than expected next year and the upcoming Allen (and Edmunds?) extension(s) will start to make the cutting of good veterans necessary in favor of cheap labor. Mitch Morse, Star Lotulelei, AJ Klein, Mario Addison, Jerry Hughes....some of the older, more expensive vets on this team may see their replacements drafted this year. -
I was just talking about the specifics of how his “pro bowl” accolades affect his 5th year option. like I’ve said in the past, I agree with you regarding Edmunds

So much for being “all in” on Edmunds. Ha! -
We know 100% they are going to take Josh's 5th year option. Beane has already said that they want to get Josh's contract done this year but if they can't, they'll work on it next year. So they 100% will pick up Josh's option, Book It. So that's exactly how I interpreted it - Telling about Edmunds Just saying about our RBs: "neither of our backs are home-run hitters". Didn't rule out taking an RB at 30 if he feels a different skill set is there.

I think the Edmunds thing is telling. LB is in play. I’d wait until after the season for Edmunds (if they can, or must it be done sooner). Clearly Josh’s option is picked up during contract negotiations.
