  1. We have Davis for 2 more years. He doesn't need a new contract until 2024 where estimates are the cap will exceed $250M. The Bills only have $180M in contracts for the 2024 league year. It is possible to sign Davis without any issues if they choose to do so. After the upcoming offseason where we have a ton of contracts expiring and little space, the 2024 league year is manageable. We are having immediate discussions about losing our MLB and SS after this season. There are serious needs at guard in the next year. Unless the Bills absolutely love an outside WR in the second, I would much prefer to go after positions that will take more immediate starting roles. Guys that you are planning to to start in 3 years can be taken in later rounds and groomed. FA After 2022 Edmunds Poyer J.Philips Lawson Knox Dane Jackson Saffold Keenum Matakevich Singletary OJ Howard Ford Crowder Andre Smith D.Johnson T.Jones Queensbury Sweeney Mancz Boetteger Kumerow Lee J.Johnson Lewis Barkley Gilliam Ankou Dodson FA- After 2023 Bass Oliver Hyde Settle J. 2. This is the GREATEST thread of the last few weeks. It combines the wonderful worlds of "Can we talk about Tremaine Edmunds" and "Breece Hall Please!!" in one fellow swoop.
  3. Unless they are trading Edmunds or Poyer, this 2nd round pick almost has to be an Offensive player. We are now stacked on defense. Get Josh another weapon with speed.
  4. Bashing Edmunds is unique and tying it to Elam is an interesting new twist. If we draft a punter in the 6th let’s see how you do blaming Edmunds for that one too.
  5. My pro's and con's of this pick, and some quite frankly fit into both categories Pros: - Position of biggest need on team - High upside potential - Speed factor - NFL pedigree being former player's son -McD/Frazier seem to get most of position even with UDFA's like Wallace Cons: - Seems like another Edmunds type of player which is worrisome for many reasons - Beane doesn't have great track record with most draft picks on the defensive side - Does seem like Beane scrambled after KC made their move and this became a need pick vs BPA pick - Gave up 4th round pick to move ahead of one team In the end way too early to know what Elam will amount to in the NFL but still think we need to sign a veteran DB ASAP.
  6. I feel like this could be an OG like Nicholas Petit-Frere, or if they want to replace Tremaine Edmunds, Christian Harris- ILB Alabama, they would most likely have to trade up for Hall but there is also RB James Cook, Isiah Spiller. I don't see us drafting a TE in round 2. I also don't see WR as Metchie and Charleston Rambo appear to be the only 2 that came in for a visit. Also S Nick Cross may be in play, could they double dip at CB and take McCreary if he's still there? That would be a hell of an upgrade in the secondary !
  7. Also.. G, MLB and S aren’t exactly premium positions. To everyone so worried about Saffold, Edmunds and Poyer all being off the team after this year, ok… We can draft a MLB, G and S with our Top 100 picks next year. Why do we need to give these positions all a redshirt year? Draft guys tonight who will contribute.
  8. Saffold, Edmunds, and Poyer could be gone next year. So I could see G, MLB, or S. I could also see WR, RB, or TE (depending on how they think a Knox extension will go). I also have no issue burning picks to trade up.
  9. While I don't think we trade Edmunds and I actually like Edmunds...I'd be all over this.
  10. LOL at that last The Jets had a solid first round and came away with 3 highly regarded players who should help them a lot. OTOH, the announcers on ABC were just "washing" them to a ridiculous degree, they drafted the best CB in the draft and they drafted the best WR and then they drafted the best LB/DE in the draft. Every year, players who are drafted later on outperform initially and/or have better careers than players who are drafted higher, so I think the chances the Jets hit it out of the park x3 are fairly small. They had a good draft, but let's not go nuts. The pundits were all slamming the Bills a couple years ago for trading up for Josh Allen and then for Tre Edmunds. We know how Allen vs Pundits worked out and while in hindsight, we might all rather have Darius Leonard, fwiw PFR has Edmunds at equal AAV to Roquan Smith (who went eighth) and better than Rashan Evans (who went 22); Edmunds hasn't been what the fans hoped, and maybe not quite what the Bills hoped, but he's been a starter.
  11. Right, I get that, to an extent. But I also look at second round picks as projected or expected starters. We are locked into Diggs for eternity and one would hope we extend Davis as part of the corp. Crowder is a fine stop gap for cheap. I can get behind drafting a WR in the second for sure even on the outside. But from a roster and draft value point of view it feels like either Sky Moore or get a somebody who is prepping to start in 2023 if we let Edmunds walk or don't/can't extend Poyer. Don't underestimate the importance of a punter either....
  12. Why would they opt for Dean when they passed on Devin Lloyd? Then they could have moved Edmunds to get HALL or the best available corner early in the 2nd. Elam is not a difference maker. The Bills have Edmunds on his rookie contract this year. He's staying and my prediction is he gets extended. He's the best option for our SB chase this year.
  13. This guy said that he couldn't wait to work with Edmunds. I'm off the hate train until he says so.
  14. Edmunds isn’t the difference between us winning a Super Bowl or not. If we roll with him, I want him re-signed. Absolutely hate the idea of playing a rental year with a former RD1 pick who likely has substantial trade value, ie a pick tonight.
  15. I could see Edmunds getting the Franchise tag if he does not take leap this year and team is uncertain about paying him long term. If team decides to move him it probably won’t be till next offseason.
  16. yeah, clearly Allen is an exception. Trading up for Edmunds was amazing. And trading up for Ford (also 2nd round) worked out well also. The blind trust that Elam is better than the other CB’s or S Hill is unwarranted.
  17. I think his role as 'signal caller' is overrated. It's more about his placement in the middle of the defense than his acumen as a defensive genius. He's in the best position on that side of the ball to relay signals to the rest of the defense. I suspect he's mostly the proxy mouthpiece from the D Coordinator who radios signals to him. If Edmunds was that knowledgeable about defensive schemes, I doubt he'd be getting burned and out of position as he often is.
  18. Well said! I dont get the Edmunds hate. Or the love for Breece Hall. But if Beane had traded down, grabbed an extra pick, I would have been OK with using it for Hall.
  19. What team is gonna pay you a premium asset after you've shown your hand and moved up to draft his replacement? It'd be just like the Baker situation in Cleveland, teams would just wait you out. Regardless, the Bills are really high on Edmunds, even if the fans are so-so. I think he's proven to be a solid starting LB and a decent enough signal caller. He's not going anywhere.
  20. They could've and I think that's the pick if they're looking to move on from Edmunds after this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they extend him this summer.
  21. It’s a SB expectation year for he Bills … let Edmunds play it out instead of rolling the dice on a second round rookie… If they then decide to move on then so be it…. Maybe they get a comp pick for him although that doesn’t appear to be a major priority for Beane generally… If he moves on and they get nothing for him in 2023… well.. they will have to suck it up…
  22. I don’t disagree with anything you said, but I do not see the bills retaining Edmunds after the season. To be it is about the cap more than anything. Trying to look beyond this season.
  23. Tremaine Edmunds isn't going to be traded. Regardless of how you feel of his play (which isn't as bad as some of you posters make it seem), he's the signal caller of the #1 Defense in the league for years running. We're not going to disrupt the flow of this Defense in this important season by hoping that a 2nd Round pick is going to not only cause us to miss a step in his Rookie season, but make it perform better. They vastly improved the Defensive Line in front of him. They brought in the DT he played with in College. This wasn't just a coincidence. They want to see if it'll pay dividends for Tremaine. He's going to get this season. It's time to let it go.
  24. Trade up and draft Nakobe Dean from Georgia. Presto LB of the future. Once that deal is secure… Find a trade partner for Tremaine Edmunds (mid second rounder) hopefully an NFC team, and use the pick for Breece Hall. i don’t have positional needs and charts in front of me but this would help the cap this year and years moving forward as well as solidify the backfield.
  25. Yeah, could definitely be the case. The rest of our draft could certainly be drafting Edmunds, Poyers and Saffolds eventual replacements. Glad we got a big fast corner without t-Rex arms though
