Rd 3, Pick 89 (25): LB Terrell Bernard, Baylor

Bernard I had as a 6th round guy. If this is the future replacement for Edmunds then yikes. Not too happy with this one to be honest. -

Well this pick should help calm speculation of what the Bills are going to do with Edmunds. -

What are they going to do about the fact that he's under 6 feet and under 230. For us I just don't see any LB that size coming in and doing more than what Edmunds does. He'd basically be a better tackling shorter Milano. -

I’ll say it. Beane hears the criticism of fans about Edmunds. No way he was picking a LB there to compete with him when that was the BPA. Bad draft so far. -

to the idea that the team is so filled out that they don't have squares to spare. That's literal bullsh*t and just a shout down..............no roster is too good to add a Taron Johnson or Gabe Davis........let alone one where Kumerow, Ques, Doyle, Matakevich etc.. are one twisted ankle away from starting. The proper response is..........it's a risk for a very small move-up..........but if Elam turns into the player they obviously think he will be, it will likely be worth it. No need to oversell it to try to get people to agree so that you can feel better about the trade/pick..........if you were that confident in it you wouldn't be arguing about it. What I would say is that maybe Beane should take a page out of the Les Snead playbook and recognize his strengths and play to them. Snead was a terrible early round drafter..........he started trading THOSE picks.........and suddenly the Rams stopped drafting at the top of each round every year. Beane has been completely ineffective drafting in round 2...........his best use of second round picks has been too trade up for Allen and Edmunds. Meanwhile..........he's had success with big moves in round 1...........and been almost perfect in rounds 3 and 4 (Zach Moss being the only exception). So maybe learn what works and go big or go home with the trade-ups.........or trade BACK from round 2 and get more picks in that round 3/4 sweet spot instead of trading them away.

Kyle Brandt will announce Bills 3rd round pick
Warcodered replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sounds like he ran into a "fan" of Edmunds on the plane. -
Yep - and Edmunds with 2 pro bowls, Oliver, White with Probowls, Milano, Dawkins, Knox, Singletary, Davis, Brown, Johnson, Rousseau, Basham, Bass, Boettger, Brown, Dodson, Epenesa, Hamlin, Hodgins, Jackson, etc - all playing and giving minutes. They are not all home runs, but they hit on more players and develop more players than other teams. The make-up may not be what everyone hopes for, but year after year they hammer out multiple picks that make the team and stay and then those that go on still have success. Teller, Zay Jones, Phillips, etc - get moved and then signed by other teams. They are not perfect, but they find people at every level.

The 3-team deal I’d like to see the Bills pull off on day 2
Floydboy12 replied to iccrewman112's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stat guys can quote all the numbers they want. This defense has come up extremely small 2 years in a row when it mattered most. If it happens a third year in a row I can’t imagine Frazier, Edmunds or maybe even McDermott survive it. -
I'm going to say we draft Tremaine Edmunds replacement and select Christian Harris- ILB Alabama

iccrewman112 replied to iccrewman112's topic in The Stadium Wall
this is precisely my point. It’s less about edmunds the player and more about player control and salary cap flexibility. think about the ravens… they draft Hollywood Brown get 3 years of service from him and then trade him for a 1st rounder. Talk about value. Similar with Edmunds just not as high replacement pick value. -
Assuming they stick with Edmunds in 2022, I am hoping OL and WR with the next two picks. I'd be fine with adding another DB but I'd choose a safety over a corner. If you assume Tre is back then you have two first round corners, a very good nickel and depth with Dane. Siran Neal is a special teams guy that should not have even been re-signed but whatever. Adding a safety for possible replacement of one of our aging safeties makes sense.

IF we draft Linebacker.. Trade Edmunds for a third round pick this year and conditional pick next year. Would be nice to recover a day 3 pick. Sorry I brought up he who shall not be named....... But 'tis the season for speculation.
-
Trade Edmunds and our 2nd for the Giants 2nd and take Nakobe Dean LB Georgia. You shave 11 million off the cap and get cost control at the position the next 4 years. Not to mention he is probably a better Linebacker than the flawed Edmunds.

WR Pickens WR Watson HB Hall CB Booth Edge Ojabo Bold move would be trade: Edmunds + 57 to SEA for 40 + 41 Draft Muma + Offense or if we like Dodson, WR + RB not sure that makes sense for us

My concern about trading mid round picks this year is not this season but the next 2-3. The Bills seem semi determined to go all in this year with a lot of the moves and that's fine if we bring home a Lombardy. But if 2022 isn't our year we have a lot of dead cap space creeping up on us the next few years and some key players we need to renegotiate next off season. Beane said multiple times this off season that we need to nail these mid round draft picks because of the cap situation we're in right now. Having more rookie contracts to work with will help us immensely in preventing a dropoff in talent when we can't resign players like Edmunds or Poyer next season. I'm not really disappointed with the trade or the pick given the way the board was falling but just mildly concerned about next year. As @NewEra said, we could have likely gotten Elam without the trade up. If Elam was snagged then Booth was still there too.

Epic fail on the negatives. 1. Edmunds type of player? What does that even mean? If it means 5 year starter, defensive signal caller, defensive captain, and multiple pro bowls, please sign me up. 2. Beane does not have a great track record? Ed Oliver - starter and at times dominant. 5th yer option picked up and still improving. White - pro bowler and elite CB1. Edmunds- already covered. Rousseau - 1st year starter. OK then. 3. Beane scrambled? What is the evidence of that. He had a player targeted above others and got him. We do not even know, and never will, if he wanted McDuffie. 4. Move ahead of 1 team? Wrong. If Baltimore was moving the pick, every other team was in play. By the way, we do not know that Dallas did not want this player. Their reaction at the draft table after the Bills trade and selection was announced indicated they may well have been targeting the same player.
