Couple of things: 1 - the nfl coaching hiring is A joke. It’s just hire your buddy or have your daddy/ family member get you in. There are guys who are grinding away in college who deserve their first shot rather than Nate Hackett, who has been more often than not, completely terrible. But his daddy was a coach. Same with Pat Schmur, one of the worst coaches ever, who has gotten two head coaching job. There is a major problem. Andy Reid’s kids were literally crack heads and one got a nfl job. 2 - Matt Nagy 3 - Mike Vrabel had an assault and theft on his record. 4 - do I think the nfl is racist? Not totally but coaching is such a subjective thing to measure unless you get the opportunity. Several black coaches this year led top 5 units. How many got jobs? How many franchises have never a black permanent head coach? bottom line is winning. Problem is the same losers get the jobs because of who they are friends with. It’s a problem and good people, of all races, are getting passed by crappy Todd Haley (college golfer whose dad helped run the Steelers). Rex Ryan is another example of the daddy boys network. Dude absolutely sucked here, was out of the league of 5 years, and gets another shot? Why? Why doesn’t a new guy get a chance to fail?

Why is Eric Bieniemy available as an OC?
Royale with Cheese replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
You think it's realistic for a Owner to say "I am sure Bienemy could bring Super Bowls to us but I won't hire him because he's black." It's a production position. If you can produce, they will absolutely hire you. There aren't just two options and sorry, I don't think racism is one. Lovie Smith went 17-39 as HC of University of Illinois. He then becomes the Texans DC after being fired and leads a bottom 5 defense two years in a row. He gets promoted to HC! He was more undeserving than Nate Hackett lol. https://foxsportsradio.iheart.com/content/2022-09-30-jason-whitlock-why-the-chiefs-dont-respect-eric-bieniemy/ “The NBA, the NFL, all these live sports, all they are are TV shows. They’re no different from whatever your favorite TV show is right now. You know what they do on TV shows? They write people and characters in and out of the script. Eric Bieniemy, the alleged offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs, has been written out of the script. If you watched that Chiefs/Chargers game [in Week 1] Eric Bieniemy wasn’t discussed. Maybe I missed it, but if it was discussed it wasn’t discussed like it used to be. The whole Andy Reid and the Chiefs trying to promote Eric Bieniemy as the next great coaching legend, the heir to Tony Dungy’s throne, the heir to Vince Lombardi’s throne.. they weren’t talking about Eric Bieniemy. They weren’t flashing to the sidelines showing Eric Bieniemy pretending to call plays. Everything was about Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Andy Reid calling plays and running that team. Eric Bieniemy has been de-emphasized because they’re done with him. They couldn’t pawn him off on another organization like they’ve tried the last three years so they’ve written him out of the script. All of that is controlled by the NFL teams. Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, whoever; they get to tell and greenlight whoever on their staff they want the television networks to talk about or focus in on. For the last 2-3 years the Chiefs were having a concerted effort to try and promote Eric Bieniemy up off their staff and get someone to take him on as a head coach. It’s a very clever way of firing people… The media has spent all of these years, ‘OH, ERIC BIENIEMY, HE DESERVES A HEAD COACHING JOB!’ ‘HE’S THE GREATEST HEAD COACH!’ ‘HE’S GETTING SCREWED OVER BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!’ ‘IF THE NFL WASN’T RACIST…’ They’ve been selling that nonsense forever meanwhile the Houston Texans hired Lovie Smith off the scrap heap? Hired Dave Culley, a 40-year NFL assistant? The NFL has no problem hiring Black head coaches. I don’t care what you hear on tv about how ‘racist’ they are, race isn’t the issue, CULTURE is the issue. You plug all of these men into this emasculated victimhood culture that has been pushed on Black people. You don’t produce leaders that way, and that’s why Black men are struggling to get NFL head coaching jobs. Because they’ve been forced into a culture that does not prepare them for leadership. THAT’S Eric Bieniemy’s problem. It’s connected to the conversation we’re going to have about ‘The Woman King.’ Black people are living in a matriarchal culture here in America. A matriarchal culture does not produce high-quality Black male leadership, period, end of story. Either we can deal with that fact and correct it, or we can whine and cry, and call everybody racist, and say ‘OH, IT’S THE WHITE MAN’S FAULT…’ It’s OUR fault for maintaining and buying into a matriarchal culture. If you continue to be on your knees and be a beta male and a coward, eventually you’re going to get written out of the script. That’s what happened to Eric Bieniemy. Life knocked on his door and said ‘Eric, we did the best we could, we tried to sell you for three years, we got all the media saying you’re the greatest coach in the world, then you get in these interview rooms and everyone finds out you’re not built for leadership, and they won’t give you the job.' They literally tried to get rid of him this off-season and ended up signing him to another one-year deal. Now they’re done. They’ve given him all the welfare they can give him, no one would buy the fake product, and now they've written him out of the script.” -
Preseason NFL is CFL. Maybe the Bills should bring back Nate Peterman? He won the preseason... How many carries did the Giants give Williams? The question answers itself. Obviously Hines is a ST talent. Williams wasn't on ST. Simple.

It's Donahoe, not Donahue and his first draft was awesome 2001 RD 1. Nate Clements RD 2. Aaron Schobel RD 2. Travis Henry Were his first 3 draft picks. It went downhill after that though

I was curious in looking at ways to compare the last 3 relevant GM's we had as far as draft results. I used AV as others have in the past. Not by any stretch perfect but decent = https://www.pro-football-reference.com/about/approximate_value.htm My initial thought prior to doing this was Beane, outside of Allen, has drafted about as well as Donahoe and that Whaley was awful. In large part that appears to be the case. Below is years 4 and 5 for each of these GM's. I wanted to look at those years as I wanted to see the impact of several years worth of shaping a roster. It is also the cut off we have on both Beane and Donahoe while just missing Whaley (although for this study I think 2017 qualifies as a 5th year). -For Beane this includes drafts from 2018-2022 / 2021-2022 -For Whaley this includes drafts from 2013-2017 (I assigned the 2017 class to Whaley for this exercise) / 2016-2017 -For Donahoe that includes drafts from 2001-2005 / 2004-2005 I looked at the last two years for each GM which are in bold above. I looked at how many picks remained on the team that they drafted. Then what the sum of the "AV" of those picks was, then what the AVG "AV" value of those picks was. These are the results: If you subtract Allen from Beane, he goes to a AV total of 97 and 86, with an average of 3.88 and 3.90. So again, very TD like, which some might think is an insult but it's not intended to be. More just perspective. Whaley is obviously atrocious. You also see the impacts in 2017 of McD taking over the roster and purging his picks. Top 5 players drafted as far as AV is concerned: Beane= Allen, Singletary, Rousseau, Oliver, Edmunds Whaley= Preston Brown, Robert Woods, Tre White, John Miller, Dion Dawkins 😨 Donahoe= Nate Clements, Terrance McGee, Willis McGahee, Lee Evans, Aaron Schobel

Players you Absolutely Want the Bills to Draft
Sherlock Holmes replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jack Campbell Colonel Drew Sanders Lukas Van Ness Monster Michael Meyers Andrew Voorhees Cody Mauch Joe Tippman Nate Herbig Charlie Jones Jake Bobo Peter Skoronski Dalton Kincaid -
Should we eliminate Benton since we picked him last time? I maybe add Luke Musgrave, Jaquelin Roy, Gervon Dexter, Zach Pickens edges Tuli Tuipulotu and Byron Young Also feels early for Nate Dell, but they have shown a lot of interest for what it's worth.

Remember last off season when the Broncos traded for Russ Wilson? All the pundits getting all whirled up thinking that the Denver Broncos were poised to take down the KC Chiefs in the AFC West? The though process was solid. -Wilson is a top end QB -Man, the Broncos have some WEAPONS with Sutton, Jeudy and a good young RB in Williams -Solid Defense See anything eerily similar about AR to the Jets? I sure do. One thing that is consistent between the 2...A LARGE reason the Denver season imploded was the complete ineptitude their offense showed between their aging QB and their playcalling. Who is calling the plays for the Jests this year? Yes, the same Nate Hackett that oversaw that horrible Bronco offense. And yes, Hackett was "the OC for Rodgers" in Green Bay...but he was not the one making the calls on offense. Game still has to be played on the field, of course. But there are just as many reasons to speculate that the Jests will implode under the pressure as they will contend for the division. If they start out slow that media will turn on Rodgers with the speed of a Don Beebe running down Leon Lett.

Agreed on most of this. I dont find Sal that condescending as much as I sympathize that he has to deal with WGR Callers for a living, and they deserve whatever they get from the hosts. I'll give Joe and Nate some wiggle room. They are both VERY young, and new in their broadcast careers, so a lot of growing and improving left. I think we'll see them become pretty decent over the years.
-
WGR is garbage imo Jeremy was much better before being teamed up with Joe Sal is terrific but can be a bit condescending without ever realizing and catching himself Chris Brown I thought was one of the best talents before becoming full time and I had consistently wished for him to be full time, and be careful what you wish for I suppose Steve Tasker doesn’t belong anywhere that he needs to use his words Bulldog is meh. Not necessarily bad but definitely doesn’t offer much value. I used to HATE Schopp and thought he was insufferable with constant pessimism, but since the Bills have became a good team I think he’s a legitimate talent and honestly the best person on WGR. The whole gambling talk is annoying, in regards of people complaining. It’s the way sports are trending, and honestly gambling in general is a very strong look at what consensus on sports are. Betting odds tell a lot of a story. TL;DR, Despite all having their downfalls, Jeremy, Sal & Schopp aren’t terrible. They’re actually pretty good. The rest of WGR, especially Joe DiBiase and Nate Geary are blah. Nothing against these guys personally, just always been a pet peeve of mine. The greater population of Buffalo looks to this station for their sports talk and you just can’t often tune in and hear anything knowledgeable or any sort of valuable insight. They’re all better fit for podcasts imo, it’s annoying to me that a radio station doesn’t employ better quality talents.

2006 Buffalo Bills Charging Forward Video ?????????????
MJS replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall
There were some good players, though, especially on defense. Kyle Williams, Lee Evans, Jason Peters, London Fletcher. Terrence McGee and Nate Clements were good. Donte Whitner, despite the hate he gets because of where he was drafted, was a good player too. But we were in QB purgatory. -
Unless he wins a SB, his legacy will be passing on Patrick Mahomes, thinking Nate Peterman was the answer, and 13 seconds.
-
So I'd be willing to go to $13m AAV. That is about what Laken Tomlinson got last yesr from the Jets. His profile and age was similar (I like Semuelo better as a player tho). On that number Tomlinson's cap hit last year was $5.5m. I think a similar deal is doable. I don't love the rest of the class. I like Nate Davis a bit but don't love him and he might get more than Semuelo so that's no deal for me. My second option is a trade with Tampa for Shaq Mason. They paid a 5th for him last year. They are now entering a likely rebuild. I reckon they might take a 5th back. He'd bring $8.5m with him but is a FA after the year, so you might be able to do a short extension and lower than number with some up front Pegula cash. Option 3 might be Risner from the Broncos but again I think you would have to overpay for his talent level.
-
My tops are: Nate Davis - OG - Titans -or- Will Hernandez - OG - Cardinals Paris Campbell - WR - Colts -or- Robert Woods - WR - FA Unrealistic WR pick: Mecole Hardman Tremaine Edmunds -or- Germain Pratt - LB - Bengals I don’t think we go old LB for the defense. They’ll sign a mid-Teir FA to compete with Spencer Brown or re-sign Q-Berry. They draft WR and SS in rounds one and two.
-
LT - Dion Dawkins LG - Ryan Bates C - Mitch Morse, Luke Wypler, Ohio State, 3rd round, heir apparent to MM at C, immediate competition for Bates at LG RG - Nate Davis, FA-Titans, 26 years old, 4 years, $30M total ($7.5M AAV) RT - Competition between Spencer Brown and Jermaine Eluemunor, FA-Raiders, 28 years old, 2 years, $8M ($4M AAV), winner starts, backup is the swing tackle I’d look to do something like this. Reasonable spending, good competition and depth, succession planning at C.

Who would be your free agency targets?
78thealltimegreat replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Adrian Amos Green Bay safety..Nate Davis of the Titans… Jermaine Eluemunor tackle Vegas…all positions where help is definitely needed and all won’t break the bank and seem reasonably priced…allows Buff to go into the draft needing to add a WR…OL…LB…TE…DB and be set -
Loved Bobby Woods. One of the toughest receivers ever. But he is done. Didn’t really have great physical tools before his injury. But man, that receiving core of Watkins, Woods, Hogan, and Goodwin had so much potential that never came close to getting reached. Nate Hackett killed EJ like he just killed Russell Wilson!

It’s funny that no one brought up the co coordinator stuff when all the McVay guys get hired. Or all the Pats defense is coaches. all you hear is black coaches aren’t getting jobs because they aren’t OCs. Well you have a 2 time Super Bowl OC not getting a job. And the character stuff holding you back in the nfl is hilarious. How about Andy Reid’s kids? The coke sniffing o line coach? Our own Kromer? Vrabel has a few arrests too. but he just must interview really bad. I’d love for him to be awesome in Washington (though that probably won’t be the situation I would have picked) and then watch him get passed over again for daddy’s boys like Nate Hackett or Shurmur. He got benched in KC. Sure there’s no agenda there from Saint LeSean.
-
EB is going to be learning on the job, even more than Dorsey at this point. If you wanna say last year, I agree that's not crazy. I could see going with EB > Dorsey when neither had been a real OC. Once we hired Dorsey last year, he was going to get 2-3 years as OC unless he had a Nate Hackett level implosion.
-
Andre Dillard- former 1st rd pick, still young, didn’t play much since eagles have good line. Would be solid swing tackle and completion for brown. Won’t cost much D’ontae Foreman- big back that can be a good duo with cook. 2-3 year deal around 3-3.5 per year Nate Davis- young, rated higher than both powers and risner, projected around 7 million per year Jarvis Landry- good slot receiver and physical blocker. Had down year due to injury and poor qb situation. WR coach from college is now Bills WR coach. Played for 1 year 3 million last year so something in the 2-3 million range. Odell Beckham JR- give gabe competition, know the players on the team want him, reunite with prior coach and potentially Landry. I think something like 2 year 15 million plus incentives would get it done Shaq Lawson- I bring him back on a cheap deal Bobby Okeroke- young, productive can likely be had for reasonable price

The Myth of the Bills over-focusing on defense in the Draft and FA
uticaclub replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
If they drafted him other than for special team based on his size and skillset, then the house needed to clean last year. Its ***** bull#### they are this bad at talent evaluation. Nate Peterman over AJ McCarron for Josh’s rookie year. Give me a ***** break. -
Agreed. McDermott would need a down year. Dungy got fired from TB after going 9-7 and being embarrassed by Philly in the WC round. It would have to be something similar to that (or worse) barring an injury to Allen for Pegula to even consider it. Yes and no. You'd have a lot of tools at your disposal for immediate success. However, if you fail you could be a one and done. See Steve Wilks and Nate Hackett.

Bills at jets monday opener ESPN/ABC on week 1
GETTOTHE50 replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall
coach salad is going to be fired after this year and nate is going to be promoted bc aaron is going to be fed up with his croutons by week 12 when they are desperately reaching for a playoff game. -
It takes MUCH more assuming to place the Jets above us. I don't have to assume anything to say the Bills are still the best team in the division - that's what we've been for 3 seasons now, and that's how it remains until a divisional rival actually dethrones us. Us being #1 is the assumed baseline until proven otherwise. To place the Jets above us, you have to assume a 40 year old QB coming off the worst season of his career, after an offseason where he openly admitted he already had one foot out the door, behind a suspect offensive line, is going to work out. You have to assume Nate Hackett is suddenly going to be able to call a competent offense with an over the hill QB. You have to assume Breece Hall will be the same player. Etc. Etc. I'm not confident the Bills are the best team in the conference, but until proven otherwise I am very comfortable saying they're the best team in the division.

Schedule Release - Rumors & Leaks
The Jokeman replied to FitzShowUsYourTitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he does, does Nate ever get another OC job in the NFL. I still wished Marrone had made him a QB coach and we signed an experienced OC. Week 4 Kids Game, Lions vs Bills is usually the case.
