  1. Here's what Damian Harris has to say about Brady, from article in he Athletic: Damien Harris announced his retirement in March, but he was there in Buffalo last season when the Bills made the switch to Joe Brady at offensive coordinator and Josh Allen took off. Three games into this season, Allen is still ascending. So when Damien joined co-host Chase Daniel and me on the Friday episode of the “Scoop City” podcast, we asked him: Why is this QB-OC marriage thriving? Here’s what Damien had to say: “Josh is literally the world’s biggest, strongest, fastest toddler. He’s so playful. He loves to joke. He loves to have a good time. And when you’re a guy that’s that talented and that can win you games at the level of Josh Allen can, relax and be a little bit loose, that’s the way you’ve got to ride. “Joe Brady’s as cool as the other side of the pillow. And he coached at LSU, so he’s been with guys who had that superstar nature. He’s been a part of those cultures where it’s like, ‘We just show up and we play ball. It don’t matter what you call. Let us call the plays. Because whatever you put on a call sheet, we’re going to make it work.’ “Look at the emergence of Jimbo (James) Cook. Josh Allen is like, if I’m going to be the best version of myself, we’ve got to get this dude going in the pass game and the run game. Joe Brady is getting James Cook involved, and that’s because Josh Allen wants him involved.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5799263/2024/09/27/caleb-williams-rough-start/ Part on Allen is about 2/3 of the way down the article for those that have access
  2. It's amazing how we win when our McDermott sucks as a coach, Beane misses so much in the draft and Allen doesn't have any talent around him.
  3. As long as the honeymoon lasts until after the SB parade, I’m good with it All we need is one. I don’t mind if Josh Allen doesn’t go down as the best QB in NFL history, but he gets one and he gets the honors of being the best Bills QB/player ever. Which is what he and this fan base deserve imo.
  4. You have to look at the context. AZ game, we threw the ball 5 times in the 1st half because our defense didn't get on the field. Miami game a blow out and Cook was going off. No need to pass the ball. Jags game, we were up 31 at half time. Allen threw 28 times in the 1st half with 254 yards passing. You don't get 254 yards passing when your WR's aren't good. I'm sorry. To say we lack the elite level WR's, yes, that's fair. To say we don't have good WR's, that's a bit much. Shakir isn't a quality WR, he's on the verge of becoming a great WR. But again, up by 31 at half time, no need to pass anymore. Allen was on pace to throw 56 times in the Jags game if the Jags had kept it somewhat in range.
  5. Lot's of good discussion this morning on the FS1 show The Facility. The Question: who is better Josh or Lamar? and if you believe Lamar's MVP last year was a product of the teams defense and overall record, NOT his dominant play, you will love this discussion. We all know Shady loves Josh so you know where he leans. James Jones constantly talks about Josh having 40+ TDS for four straight years and counting and how crazy that is and he is a better QB than Lamar. None of them including Acho think Lamar is on Josh's level. Not a huge gap, but he's a level below. They think Lamar has splashy plays but Josh is the scarier QB to play against. And the playoff results/accomplishments are all in Josh's favor. They pointed out that Baltimore's playoff losses can be pinned on Lamar, Buffalo's playoff losses are mostly D and special teams related.
  6. The sample size is actually quite larger than 3 games now. Mahomes struggled greatly last season by his standards and so far through 3 games the struggles continue or are even perhaps worse. KC won a Super Bowl last year on the back of their dominant defense and Chris Jones. The sample size is 20 games and counting now of Mahomes being far below is career averages. Allen has been statistically a better QB for 20+ games and counting now. Mahomes had a honeymoon period in his first year without Tyreek where Mahomes some of the best ball of his career and would go on to win MVP. Second to only his first MVP season. But that honeymoon ended last season as Mahomes and the Chiefs offense struggled all year. Fortunately, for them and not for the rest of the league, the Chiefs offensive dip coincided with their defense turning into one of the top units in the league. This year Mahomes has a #1 WR again in Rice but so far it has not made a difference. Mahomes and the Chiefs offense continues to struggle. Are Allen and the Bills in a similar offensive honeymoon period with perceived lack of talent at the skill positions? How long will the honeymoon last?
  7. Exactly and it was why I kept hoping the Jags would score some cuz I had Allen, Kincaid, and Sahkir going in fantasy and FanDuel games and didn’t want them to just run the clock the whole 2nd half haha. They ended up getting me enough points though to still win all of my games at least ha
  8. And every postseason that defense plays like hot garbage when it matters the most. Even last year, K.C.'s offense was BAD an yet the Bills defense managed to allow K.C. to score the most points out of all of their 4 post season games. If the Bills D would have played to the average of the Ravens, 49ers and Dolphins (Dolphins!?!) they would have easily beat K.C. The Bills D has been BAD in 4 straight post season exists. This argument that Allen has a top defense every year doesn't hold any water when we start talking about the lack of postseason success for the Bills. You would think by blind luck they would have had at least one good defensive game out of 4 attempts.
  9. I played WR in high school and I ran faster with the ball in my hands. The reason was because I pretended I stole the ball from someone and they are now chasing me. If the Jags could have put up any sort of offense on Monday, Allen would have had 450 yards passing, 500 total yards and probably 6 TD's. He wasn't being stopped or even slowed down by the Jags. The only thing slowing our offense down was the score. Allen had two pass attempts in the second half because we were up by 4+ scores the entire half.
  10. Love me some Shady McCoy. He's the BIGGEST Josh Allen fan on TV. His show "the Facility" is the best show on Fox. On the show, they just asked who was the "scarier" QB to face between Josh and Lamar. Shady compared Josh to Jason Voorhees and Lamar to Chucky. Shady then said "I'm not really afraid of Chucky" 😂😂😂
  11. I don't think McD wants him back. Allen could probably get his way, but I don't see it. Ben Johnson, Slowik, brady are probably the "hot 3" at the moment. Vrabel, Carroll, and Belichick are out there. Evero, Glenn, and Flores are available as defensive guys as well. I wouldn't say its a given Brady is gone, especially since everyone knows he has josh allen and have seen how dorsey, daboll, and even brady looked when they didn't have josh allen. Interested to see where openings crop up though. If Taylor is let go in Cincy - that would be somewhere Brady wants to land for example.
  12. Teams will only move on from Ben Johnson if Detroit's offense starts to slow down and he can't adjust. I don't think there will be much of that "he doesn't really want to be a HC" vibe. He knows he's good and he can afford to wait for the right situation. Personally, I think any OC who has Prime Josh Allen as his QB would be crazy to leave for ANY other situation, HC or OC, without first hoisting at least one Lombardi.
  13. Daniel Jones was DEFINITELY better than what they could have got in the top 5 even of the 2022 draft. That was the Pickett / Willis class and sure they coulda picked Mr Irrelevant he ended up being quite good, but otherwise that wasn't a class to find your QB in. I think their mistake was not following the Bills blueprint and taking the goodwill and capital they had built up from 2022 to risk going back to take a step forward. They felt they should try and roll with it. But I don't think that was because they thought Jones was the long term answer - and the proof of that was it was a 3 year extension not the 5 or 6 year extensions team signing franchise QBs give out. It was because they thought they could get the serviceable level they got in 2022 out of him and they weren't willing to risk it all on pitch or toss to try and get up for a Young or a Stroud (you'd have had to go from #25 to #2 and when Beane made his move from #21 to #7 but had lots of capital to do it with including a 2nd first round pick) and they didn't think Will Levis was better than Daniel Jones. In my opinion that is the the conclusion that the actual moves they have made lead you to. I still think the Jones extension was a mistake btw... because you could get Daniel Jones level play out of Sam Darnold or Geno Smith or Baker Mayfield or Jameis Winston or someone for a fraction of the cost. But I don't think it was ever because they believed that they could turn him into Josh Allen. Or even anything close to that.
  14. Complimentary football: Nice throw, Josh! Nice catch, Dawson!
  15. I didn't say "entire reason for Josh Allen", nor did I intend to imply that. That's Man o' Straw here. Obviously Josh Allen started as an off-the-charts physical talent with off-the-charts competitiveness, and Daboll didn't "make" that. But Josh Allen was also a wild man mentally and Daboll takes (and probably deserves some) credit for teaching him to "beat them with your mind" and inspiring him to improve as a passer. Jones started his career as a 62%, 232 ypg passer who threw 24 TD and 12 INT his rookie season, then took a step back under Joe Judge and Jason Garrett. I don't think it's a big stretch to think Daboll looked at Jones and said "I can coach him back to that, then I'm starting out with a more accurate Josh who makes fewer mistakes and throws fewer picks, and I can get him to use his size strategically in the run game" I disagree about thinking "better than anyone he could get at 25th overall in the 2023 draft". Schoen is a Beane disciple. He was there when Beane said "not gonna get the QB who will take us places picking 21st overall, and not gonna find partners on draft day to pick high enough" and systematically traded Cordy Glenn and pick 21 for the #12 pick, as well as trading other guys on the Bills roster who had shown they could play (Ronald Darby for a 3rd rounder etc) to accumulate ammunition for Draft Day. And in fact, in 2022, the Giants picked at #5 overall. So they could have gone for a QB then, too. Bottom line, IMHO (and you're welcome to disagree) Daboll had to have thought Jones was someone he could mold into a guy he could win with, or he would have told Schoen in 2023 to go get him his guy, and Schoen had the blueprint for how to get that done. Very likely
  16. Lamar is solid, but Lamar still struggles reading defenses sometimes and has trouble throwing the ball consistently accurate outside of the hashes from the pocket. A lot of the plays he makes come from him being elusive and catching someone coming across the field when rolling out because the play has broken down. Andrews has been killing people for years due to that. Lamar does throw a nice deep ball though and he is really good throwing to the middle of the field. I don't care about the two MVP's really. They are meaningless. I would take Josh over Lamar all day every day, and twice on Sundays.
  17. One thing Cover 1 mentioned was that there appears to be fewer option routes and it's more scheming guys open and going through reads to find the open guy. The best example was probably Shakir's TD, Allen's first two reads are to the right and then Shakir flashed to the middle of the field into Allen's field of view. It obviously helps that guys are getting open and Allen is dropping dimes all over the place, but I thought it was an interesting shift. I imagine it allows the receivers to run their routes faster because they aren't trying to digest what the defense is doing all the time and it probably allows Allen to go though his reads a little easier/quicker because he's not trying to read the defense and the body language of his receivers.
  18. I agree it was a predictable error. And they hired him because they thought he was part of the Josh Allen story - which he was. But they didn't have to believe he "made" Josh Allen to hire him. That's nuts. They thought he could improve their football team and they likely after an era in which they been mis-aligned at GM and HC with multiple combinations wanted to replicate the Bills model where they brought in a due with a pre-existing familiarity and relationship. Remember Schoen was hired first.
  19. This was predictable error on their part. Everyone could see how limited Jones was--even in their "playoff year", where they went 3-4-1 after the bye. 15 passing TDs, 3200 yards (a good season, for him). They were bereft of talent on Offense. Sticking with Jones could only result in the prolonged death that team is dying. If the owners of the Giants didn't think Daboll "made" Josh Allen, do they hire him in the first place? They certainly would not have kept Jones unless they believed Daboll could "make" him too.
  20. This was published yesterday and placing it here. Admins can move it or perhaps a separate topic. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5797292/2024/09/26/bills-front-office-moves-orchard-park/ Some excerpts if unable to view: With a new stadium being built across Abbott Road and owner Terry Pegula moving closer to selling a portion of the team, the Bills needed to add to their executive leadership team after years of upheaval and front-office chaos. The Bills hired Milwaukee Brewers executive Jason Hartlund as chief commercial officer and Major League Baseball executive Kate Hussmann as chief strategy officer. As senior vice presidents, they will join chief administrative officer Josh Dziurlikowski and chief legal officer Terry Gilbride and report to executive vice president and chief operating officer Pete Guelli. The Bills have grand plans for their Orchard Park campus once the stadium is complete. They want to host the 2028 NHL Winter Classic to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event’s launch in what was then known as Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Bills have submitted a request to host the NFL Draft in 2028 or 2029. Just four and a half years ago, the Bills had eight executive vice presidents and one senior VP. The Bills now have five senior VPs and one executive VP (Guelli). He said there won’t be any more additions to the Bills’ leadership group.
  21. Josh is smart. He'll re-ante with the Bills when the time comes. He knows winning football will get him more endorsements, and the Bills are a solid bet for that. He'll get a top raise that will quickly fall in terms of rank the years following and the team will be left with wiggle room because of how Josh is willing to structure the deal. In My Opinion
  22. I don't think he thought that for a minute. I think he thought that Jones was a better option than anyone he could get at 25th overall in the 2023 Draft and on the back of a season where they not only made the playoffs but won a playoff game accepting a step back to go forward was not the right option. That judgment was wrong. And it likely will cost Schoen and Daboll their jobs unless the Giants can win at least 7 games. But that was the judgment. Brian Daboll never thought he was the entire reason for Josh Allen or that he could make Daniel Jones better than Allen.
  23. I mean him and schoen chose to stick with jones….definitely sealed his fate with that one This whole narrative that Josh was horrendous his rookie year and Daboll made him is too funny to me. That 2018 bills roster was awful and probably pretty similar to last years giants team or worse but josh still had that team hovering around .500 in games he started. He was that Charles clay drop away from having a winning record his rookie year
  24. It's not the NFLPA's "buyer". They are supposed to represent the players' best interests, not the league's You shouldn't feel sorry for Daboll with Jones. Daboll thought that he "made" Josh Allen and he could "make" Daniel Jones into a better, less mistake-prone clone.
  25. $80 mil. Is in my opinion, an exaggeration. $60 mil sure as someone will break it, but we’ve also increased the cap by $20 mil/yr. The key question is % if the cap as it’s a fluid number. Josh a few years ago was the 2nd highest paid QB until he’s not. Now I believe he’s 13th.. im not sure why people get so obsessed with a number when first, it’s not the posters $, and 2nd, it’s fluid target. Beane has been masterful with the cap and when to pull the trigger on extensions.
