  1. Currently, the best show on TV...Modern Family. Want a good laugh? Watch this in all its hilarity on Wednesday nights at 9pm.
  2. What channel is it on and what season are they in? I bought the 1st season on DVD after watching it on TV...after reading the book and watching the movie. I thought the show got cancelled!
  3. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...eams/bills.html Tell me what is "good" about that draft, not even 2 years ago? It may be the worst I have seen Buffalo have in 10 years! Everything hinges on the development of Hardy, Corner, Fine, Bell and Johnson...and we all know McKelvin is decent, but a bonehead...so even he has a lot to prove.
  4. Wow, that draft, looking back on it...was 1 of the worst I have ever seen by 1 single team. WHO THE HELL DID WE GET? Derek Fine, Reggie Corner and Xavier Omon? Our 2 7th round picks (D. Bell & Stevie J.) are the 2 best prospects from our draft class that year. A CB taken in the 7th round, 143rd overall (Orlando Scandrick) has been a better player for the Cowboys, than our 11th overall McKelvin is having in Buffalo. All while the 2 UB boys, Richard and Scott, continue to have decent careers with Indy and Oakland.
  5. Do you think it has more to do with losing Fat Albert, or the DC Jim Schwartz?
  6. I think you have your use of terminology mixed up...shouldn't "Putrid" describe Buffalo? That is not the right word to apply to a team who is annually a playoff caliber team, eh?
  7. The Kansas City Chiefs released RB Larry Johnson on Monday. In 75 games (55 starts) with Kansas City, Johnson rushed 1,375 times for 5,996 yards (4.4 avg.) with 55 touchdowns. He also registered 151 receptions for 1,369 yards (9.1 avg.) with six TDs. He concluded his Chiefs career with 30 100-yard rushing games and also added two 100-yard receiving games. Johnson established an NFL single-season record with 416 rushing attempts in 2006 when he set a franchise single-season mark with 1,789 rushing yards. He originally entered the league as the Chiefs first-round selection (27th overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft out of Penn State
  8. Really man? There are A LOT of names out there that could come in and help this team, now or in the future. Bernard Pollard, Leonard Pope, Chris Chambers and Justin Miller are just a few of the decent players that were available all season, and just got picked up. I would go as far as saying that Bernard Pollard is even having an actual impact on the Texans' defense. He sure did against us. I like all 4 of those signings and would have taken any of them, and all of them, on this team... Here are a bunch more players that could help us now, or down the road... (in bold are my welcomed additions) QB - Jeff Garcia, Patrick Ramsey, D.J. Shockley, John David Booty, Drew Willy RB - Lorenzo Booker, Warrick Dunn, J.J. Arrington, Deshaun Foster, Chris Henry, Rudi Johnson, Marlon Lucky, Deuce McCallister, Chris Perry, Michael Pittman, Dominic Rhodes, Ryan Torain, Darius Walker, Selvin Young FB - Lorenzo Neal WR - Joey Galloway, Marvin Harrison, Darrell Jackson, Matt Jones, Joe Jurevicious, Justin McCareins, Jerry Porter, Amani Toomer, Reggie Williams TE - Bubba Franks, Ben Troupe OL - Jon Runyan, Elton Brown, Dan Buenning, Jason Fabini, Kwame Harris, Jonas Jennings, Pete Kendall, Matt Lehr, Chris Naeole, Edwin Mulitalo, Terrance Metcalf, Charles Spencer, Ben Wilkerson DL - Baraka Atkins, Kevin Carter, Kalimba Edwards, Ebenezer Ekuban, Erasmus James, Jason Jefferson, Ed Johnson, William Joseph, Travis Laboy, Antwan Lake, Jonathan Lewis, Jerome McDougal, Jay, Moore, Dewayne Robertson, Shaun Smith, John Thornton, Darwin Walker, Anthony Weaver, Rodrique Wright, James Wyche LB - Boss Bailey, Daryl Blackstock, Derrick Brooks, Donnie Edwards, Alfred Fincher, Napolean Harris, Willie McGinest, Dontarrious Thomas, Pat Thomas, Zach Thomas, Nate Webster, Leon Williams DB - Michael Boulware, Fahkir Brown, Ricardo Colclough, Jason Craft, Mike Doss, Jamar Fletcher, Aaron Gleen, Mike Green, Clinton Hart, Terrence Holt, David Irons, Von Hutchins, Dexter Jackson, Brian Kelly, Sammy Knight, Anwar Phillips, Sam Madison, Ricky Manning Jr, Chris McCallister, Mike McKenzie, R.W. McQuarters, Nate Salley, Dwight Smith, Patrick Surtain, Jimmy Williams, Tank Williams, Stanley Wilson The guys I would want the most, would be for the future and they are... QB - Drew Willy is the hometown hero who led UB to the bowl game. (John David Booty maybe?) RB - Ryan Torain and Marlon Lucky are BEASTS. (paired with Chris Henry's speed would make a great 1-2 punch) TE - Ben Troupe can block and catch. OL - Elton Brown, Dan Buenning and Charles Spencer were all relatively high draft picks and have potential. With the right coaching could turn them into something decent, definitely career backups. Ben Wilkerson would be a good Center against the 3-4 defenses Buffalo plays. He has the strength, but he also needs some coaching. DL - Baraka Atkins, Jerome McDougal and James Wyche can all rush the passer. LB - Boss Bailey, Daryl Blackstock, Dontarrious Thomas and Leon Williams all have tremendous speed and can drop into coverage. Derrick Brooks, Willie McGinest and Zach Thomas would all be great veteran leaders for this young defense. DB - Ricky Manning Jr would strenghthen this secondary. I would like to see what Jimmy Williams could do with some coaching and a change in atmosphere. He showed A LOT of promise coming out of Virginia Tech. *You cannot tell me that NONE of these guys would help this team now, or in the long run. * It also looks like we were looking to make a move with a LB (Chris Draft?), and he would have certainly helped our defense (I like Draft). He looked pretty good playing with the Pats against us. NFL | Several teams were interested in Banta-Cain Tue, 20 Oct 2009 13:55:13 -0700 Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans showed interest in LB Tully Banta-Cain before he re-signed with the New England Patriots. * Looks like we already have Patrick Ramsey hidden on the roster somewhere... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Ramsey
  9. I think it has a lot to do with the way they practice and how they are coached. My old high school football coach, probably the best Section 5 has ever seen, used to say..."You play how you practice. If you practice at a slow pace, you will play slow and scared, and this will result in injury." I know it is very cliche...but it is true. These guys practice like 3 times a week, hardly in pads and always indoors...this is the biggest problem, hands down.
  10. At least HE is making the tackles and not his safties...unlike in Buffalo where the safeties are always making the play. I don't know what your problem is...or where your knowledge of football is...but London Fletcher is a better linebacker than anybody on the Buffalo Bills roster. Safeties are not supposed to make the play, the linebackers are...and that is what London Fletcher has been doing all year...and ever since he has been in the league. He is THE MOST underrated defensive player in the NFL...he deserves a Pro-Bowl bid this year. He didn't leave on bad terms...why knock his game, when you know he is a good football player???
  11. Yeah, I saw these too, when doing some research. But, I just stuck with NHL stuff because "MARTY" was mainly an NHL player. Not only would Hasek have had better stats and awards if the IC fell earlier, but also if he came into the NHL at an earlier age. He didn't play in the NHL until 8 years after he was drafted by the Blackhawks.
  12. Shoot...we might as well get his older brother Gill II as well! He is a former defensive back at New Mexico State and is only 25 years old...perfect for this team... ...especially if these skills really do run in the family genes!
  13. What does it matter? He is 2nd in the league in tackles. Period. Ya can't say that about any Buffalo Bills linebacker.
  14. WHY IS THIS STILL A TOPIC OF DISCUSSION HERE? Did this post not say enough??? PEOPLE LOOK AT HASEK'S STATS AND AWARDS!!!!! (on weaker teams than Brodeur)
  15. you a jessica burciaga fan? she's a frickin' bombshell...maybe the hottest chick on earth! anyways...i don't think jaws would make a good gm in the nfl...except for this team. he would be a name people know and a figure from the area. he does show tremendous knowledge of the game, as well as the players in the league. he also is a fan of trent edwards and he would probably be able to save the kid's career. i think this idea...but i would rather go with a young up and coming front office exec. from one of the more dominant teams. i like the idea of the 3 young guys somebody posted a few days back. it would be nice to get somebody proven who has put together a winning team, who would bring in their own head coach, who would most likely be a hot coordinator from the gm's former team. (Holmgren and Gruden would be the best fit i think).
  16. Trent Edwards will help AVP trim Dick's pubes for the 2nd half of the season. (probably doing so, as we speak...)
  17. Oh...and...Marty still is not even 2nd in my book. Patrick Roy files in behind Dom.
  18. Say it while sober and say it with pride my friend...he easily stole a dozen games a year with his acrobats.
  19. Dominik Hasek revolutionized the game with his style...he also has WAY MORE credentials than just the Vezina's. It is laughable to even think somebody compares Brodeur to the Dominator. (He "shut door!") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominik_Ha%C5%A1ek He may be the BEST Goalie of ALL-TIME. AWARDS: Hart Memorial Trophy 1997, 1998 Lester B. Pearson Award 1997, 1998 Vezina Trophy 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 William M. Jennings Trophy 1994, 2001, 2008 NHL First All-Star Team 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 NHL All-Rookie Team 1991–92 All-Star Game 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 (did not play due to injury), 2002 RECORDS: In nine seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, Hašek acquired over 25 franchise records, including most all-time games played, wins, shutouts and lowest goals against average.[21] He also holds the Sabres' record for most shutouts in a single season with 13 in 1997–98, and lowest goals against average in a single season with a total of 1.87 in 1998–99. During the Detroit Red Wings' championship run in 2002, Hašek set franchise records for most games played, minutes played, wins and shutouts in a playoff year. He holds several notable NHL records: Regular Season - Before retirement 3rd place — Most shutouts of all active players 4th place — Most wins of all active players All-time 1st place — Highest career save percent (.922) 1st place — Most games played by a European born goaltender (694) 6th place — Most shutouts (81) 8th place — Lowest goals against average (2.20) 10th place — Most wins (389) First European goalie to lead the NHL in GAA (1993–94) First goalie since 1974 to have a GAA below 2.00 (1993–94) Most shutouts in one month (six in 97–98) Playoffs - Before retirement 3rd place — Most shutouts of all active players (15) 4th place — Most wins of all active players (61) All-time 2nd place — Most shutouts in one season (6) 3rd place — Most shutouts (15) 10th place — Most wins (61) MILESTONES: Hašek earned his 300th National Hockey League win on October 15, 2005, in a 5–1 home victory with the Ottawa Senators over the Boston Bruins. He stopped 34 of 35 shots and was holding a shutout until Bruins forward Pat Leahy jammed a loose puck under him three minutes into the third period. He became the twenty-second goaltender to reach the milestone. He is the oldest goaltender in NHL history to post a 30-win season, and in 1997, he became the first goaltender to win the Lester B. Pearson Award for most outstanding player in the league. He is also the only goaltender to win the Hart Trophy twice for most valuable player, and was only one Vezina Trophy away from tying Jacques Plante's record of seven. Hašek's personal best shutout streak is 181 minutes, 17 seconds
  20. He hasn't even won Rookie of the Week yet, although he hasn't been starting all year. Let's not push it quite yet...
  21. I really like Tim Tebow for the type of player he is. I love his passion and love for the game, as much as his leadership qualties. He just seems to have that "it" factor, that will to lead your team to win a big game in the final minute. Like Tebow, I really like Clausen a lot too. This mainly being because I am an Irish fan...but his game speaks for itself. However, I voted for Jake Locker. The kid has played his whole life in bad weather conditions, and that is what Buffalo needs. Somebody who has grew up in similar conditions and can still throw the deep ball in swirling winds and hail. Tony Pike also grew up with this advantage, but the dude is 210 lbs. I think Locker will be a gamer. Joe Flacco like.
  22. This team is playing lousy because of who their head coach is...of course they will support him, but he does not give them any legit hope. They know they are out of contention, for anything, so why bother? Our future looks bright IF we can get some FOOTBALL brains in the upper rankings of this Organization. Our front office and coaching staff is a joke. I would bring in Mike Holmgren and give him full control, ala Bill Parcells. He would then bring in Jon Gruden as his Head Coach. Gruden would then assemble, with Holmgren's help as a mentor and given track record, a high quality assistant coaching staff with capable coordinators. The Players? QB: Yes, our situation is ugly. Bring in a "wily ole veteran" through free agency, draft a poopy-weather capable QB (Locker?), and let these 2 newbies compete with Trent and Fitzpatrick (they both deserve to at least compete). RB: We have 2 very good RB's in Lynch and Jackson (or Jackson and Lynch), however YOU want to look at it, they compliment eachother and feed off eachother as good friends/teammates. We need to bring in somebody like a Jerious Norwood via free agency, or draft a guy in the form of Noel Devine/Kendall Hunter/Mike Ford/Michael Smith, who are smallish speedsters, 4.3 guys. Or, you could trade Lynch and his troubles (although I like him A LOT), to draft Noel Devine in the 3rd or 4th. Devine and Jackson would make for a nice tandom. Either way the new coach has to implement a POWER running game, because this is the strength of the offense and our offensive line loves to get nasty in the trenches. Le'Ron McClain could replace McIntyre at FB, and he is a good runner. WR: T.O. will be gone. That is okay. (Although, the new regime and changes may convince him to stay another year, but it's doubtful). Josh Reed may also be gone, but will likely resign. James Hardy and Steve Johnson will be given the chance to step up. Vincent Jackson and Michael Jenkins are free agents. A big target like Malcolm Williams/Eric Decker could be had in the mid-rounds, with the biggest and tallest being David Gettis and Mike Williams. Some "smurfs" would be Jordan Shipley/Golden Tate, but they have great hands. I would like to see Chris McGaha from Arizona State in a Bills uni. He is a Wes Welker type guy, who catches everything. I watch every ASU game and think this kid will be good, given the opportunity. Lee Evans is our only quality starter, but he needs some big time help. This unit needs work. TE: I like this group. I think Shawn Nelson will be something special, a nice find in last year's draft. His blocking seems to be coming along, but I think Schouman and Fine are capable blockers and receivers. I like this group. Crumpler and Fasano are free agents worth a look for competition. O-Line: This group, I think, is better off than people give it credit for. Wood, Levitre, Bell and Meredith are all very young and very promising. Add a healthy Butler to the mix, Hangartner (I think should back up Wood @ C), and you have a very solid line...who just needs more time together and some more coaching. Eric Winston from the Texans is a free agent, and as a 'Canes fan, I have always liked this former Tight End turned OT (sounds familiar). Not too sure how deep this draft is yet, havent got that far. D-Line: Schobel and Kelsay have been doing alright, as has Stroud and Williams. Maybin needs to bulk up and come up with more moves, but he should be a Linebacker. Free agency will produce players like Mark Anderson and Alex Brown, Luis Castillo, Ray Edwards, Kedric Golston, Tank Johnson, Johnny Jolly, Ryan Pickett, Adewale Ogunyele, Frostee Rucker, Richard Seymour, Will Smith, Daryl Tapp, Jason Taylor, Kyle Vanden Bosche, Gabe Watson and Vince Wolfork...JUST to name a FEW. So in other words, this free agent class will be deep, and yes most of these guys will get swept up quick, mainly by their own clubs. The draft also seems deep, with some 1st rounders looking like beasts. Suh, Hardy and Dunlap will all go in the Top 10, most likely. Arthur Jones is a great prospect out of SU. McCoy, Cody, Wootton, Graham, Cunningham, Austin and Kindle all could also go in the 1st round. Everson Griffen out of USC and Brandon Lang out of Troy look like great 2nd rounders. Romeus, Selvie and Morgan all look like solid pick ups in the 3rd. So this draft has many options for the defensive line. *(Bottom Line - between these 2 positions...the key solution is getting to the QB. hands down most important and obvious problem that this team has had for as long as I can remember.) LB: Maybin should be moved to OLB. Poz in the middle, with Kawika backing him up. And, Navarro Bowman would look GREAT at the other OLB spot. Harris and Palmer have both showed promise , however. Chris Draft also looks like a decent option in a secondary/backup role. Keith Bulluck, Thomas Davis, Elvis Dumervil, Parys Haralson, Thomas Howard, D'Qwell Jackson, Brandon Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Rocky McIntosh, Shawne Merriman, Kirk Morrison, Demeco Ryans, Odell Thurman and D.J. Williams are all going to be free agents. However, again, many of these guys will be snatched up quick by their own clubs. Besides Bowman, Kindle and Selvie (OLB/DE) are great pass rushers who could pair up nicely with Maybin for some years. Hughes, Norwood and Sturdivant could come in rds 2&3. Dexter Davis of ASU is a decent option in the 5th round. There are some ILB's that have good potential in the later rounds, but I think with Mitchell inside we would be alright. We need an OLB more. Secondary: 11th ranked, was once 4th (I think?)...pretty much set. McKelvin will be healthy and McGee is locked up. Lankster showed promise, as does Corner. Drayton Florence has filled in quite well. Dream scenario would be to draft Taylor Mays, Byrd at FS and use Whitner to fill in at all 3, including nickel CB. Again, at safety we still have Whitner (could trade him?) and Byrd (is the word?). Scott will probably be signed back, as well Wilson. Pat Walkins, Brodney Pool, Daniel Manning, Sean Jones and Atari Bigby could be options as backup signees as well. Dre Bly is a guy I could see the Bills signing as the "Marquee" guy if Jauron stays around. If we draft anybody, it will be a Strong Safety. Kicker/Punter: I think it is time we start looking towards the future in terms of a Kicker. Lindell is getting older and is certainly not getting any better. Moorman (Best.Player.Ever) is the second coming of Chuck Norris. I just don't see this teaming doing anything dramatic. Ralph won't do it. I can really see Jauron being kept around for another year. This team will just completely fall to shambles and it will be a show on "30 for 30" on ESPN. It needs to start after the bye week. If we lose, Jauron needs to go, and Fewell needs to step in as Interim H.C.
  23. Coulda, shoulda, woulda...give it up already. You could make this argument on EVERY SINGLE TEAM IN THE NFL! Yes, we seem to make mistakes more often than others, but EVERY TEAM has taken somebody with a draft pick, that could have resulted in a better player. This is why they say the NFL Draft is a "crap shoot!" (I will give you an "A" for the effort and doing the research though.)
  24. just beat me to it...glad he is enjoying success!
  25. That has been my opinion since week 3.
