  1. Folks, his name is DEAN. If one person makes the mistake, alright, but if everyone follows...the spelling bee champions get on your case. My spelling and grammer may not be PHD worthy, but somebody had to pick up on this. Am I wrong? Maybe I am just in a crabby mood. I was hoping to see that Dan Pee's was our new Defensive Coordinator.
  2. I really hope you are right...but I would bet that we take that OT or McClain in the 1st...then we trade up for Tebow as he slips down the draft board, ala JP Losman or Brady Quinn. Sign Vick and draft Tebow.
  3. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/331404-...rst-case#page/1 Best Case: Rd. 1 - OT (Okung, Davis, Bulaga, T. Williams) Rd. 2 - DT (Price, D. Williams, Odrick, Jones, Cody) Rd. 3 - DE (Sapp, Griffen, Hardy, Young) Rd. 4 - QB (LeFavour, Snead, Crompton) Rd. 5 - RB (Gerhart, McKnight, Hardesty, Tate, Dixon) Rd. 6 - WR (White, M. Williams, Alexander, Ford) Rd. 6 - DE (Misi, Schofield, Witten, Wilson, Fletcher) Rd. 7 - WR (Anderson) Realistic Case: Rd. 1 - LB or OLB/DE (McClain or D. Morgan) Rd. 2 - OT (Campbell, Brown, Black) Rd. 3 - WR (Shipley, Gilyard, Decker, D. Thomas, D. Williams, J. Williams) Rd. 4 - MLB (Angerer, Washington, Coleman, Cunningham) Rd. 5 - OT (Young, Ducasse, Capers, Calloway, Washington) Rd. 6 - TE (Hernandez, Dickson, Pitta, J. Graham, Byhem) Rd. 6 - DT (Houston, Woods, Alualu, Deaderick, Oghobaase, Mullins) Rd. 7 - WR (Roosevelt) Worst Case: Rd. 1 - QB (Bradford or Clausen) Rd. 2 - LB/RB/OLB (S. Lee, J. Best, Kindle or Selvie) Rd. 3 - QB (Tebow) Rd. 4 - RB (Gerhart) Rd. 5 - OLB (Muckelroy, Cheney, Sharpton) Rd. 6 - FB/TE (Garrett Graham) Rd. 7 - FB/TE (Corcoran, Jackson) Based on the position of each player, in these drafts...my draft would look like: (although I doubt some fall this far) Round #1: Rolando McClain - LB Round #2: Terrance Cody - DT Round #3: Tim Tebow - QB Round #4: Toby Gerhart - RB/FB Round #5: Sam Young - OT Round #6: O'Brien Schofield - DE/OLB Round #6: Garrett Graham - FB/TE Round #7: Graham Zug - WR Round #7: Naaman Roosevelt - WR *Instead of Terrance Cody, I would take Jared Odrick...depends on the d-scheme. (3-4 Cody, 4-3 Odrick)
  4. Saints. However, if that defense beats Favre and Manning, back to back, Gregg Williams will think he is god. I can't stand the Manning family, but if I had to see 1 of them win...Peyton's my guy. I am just excited that it will be a decent, high scoring game...and at least there's no Patriots!
  5. Though some speculation exists linking Pees to the defensive coordinator position in Buffalo, it's our understanding that the team that has hired Pees has not yet broken the news to the person who currently holds the job. Since Buffalo doesn't have a defensive coordinator, that would presumably remove them from the mix. So, back to Jim Bates and Chancy Glanderpest?
  6. Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower were decent. If Whisenhunt and Grimm chose him, I think he might be alright.
  7. I agree, if he was on the Jets, they would be just as good. He is as good as Sanchez, when healthy. (EDIT: He may not be AS good as Sanchez, but Edwards could do what the Jets ask Sanchez to do. (12-15, 100 yds, 0 turnovers) Trent Edwards just does not have the arm for the deep threat, which is the home-run for the Colts, Vikings and Saints. His arm does not compare to Manning, Favre or Brees. 2 out of those 3, and some could argue Brees, are tops to ever play the game. THEY are THE reason why their teams are where they are.
  8. I would rather get Dexter McCluster...we need a player like that on this team.
  9. Said Herock: "His release might be a little low at this point, but a lot of people talked about Philip Rivers' delivery too before he was drafted, and look at what he's done. I've heard all the supposed [negatives]. But I watched [Tebow] on the field and his velocity is good enough, and so is his accuracy. As far as his learning, you don't have to tell him anything twice. And he's a student of the game. I recommended that he watch some tapes of Steve Young, and he said, 'Oh, I've already done that.' He wants to be good. He wants to succeed. And he will succeed." Exactly what I said a week ago. Tebow will be legit...I just hope it is for MY favorite sports team, not somebody else's.
  10. I didn't post the full article...if you take the time to read it, you would notice that. I just posted the key points. I also quoted it/cited it, gave credit for, the entire article. I posted the link. I included the reporter's name/newspaper name. EDIT: It said "News Sports Reporter"...so I fixed it and included "Buffalo."
  11. I would say Michael Vick and either Derrick Johnson or Shawne Merriman. Maybe Tebow in the draft. If Jacksonville or New England doesn't get him? Either keep T.O. or they sign Chris Chambers or Kassim Osgood? Or Vincent Jackson, if he becomes a free agent...possibly a trade? I bet Washington gets Brandon Marshall. He will reunite with Shanahan. (for a WR I wouldn't mind Kevin Walter. He plays the "Wes Welker" role for Matt Schaub and the Texans.)
  12. Wilfork will be franchised. There is no way that the Broncos let go of their best defensive player, with how much they have tried to get that defense right. They finally got a sack artist, they won't let him go. Merriman could probably be had, if he decides he wants a change of scenery. I highly doubt the Chargers would let go of their franchise tackle...I mean, what kind of team does THAT? I think if Pendergast or any other Kansas City defensive assistants come in, Derrick Johnson could be a key pickup.
  13. Just don't forget that he took a defense in Arizona to the Super Bowl. Sure, it was probably Whisenhunt, Haley and Grimm's offense, but Pendergast was the lone man in charge of that defense. The 3 I previous mentioned are offensive guys. And, he might just bring Derrick Johnson along with him. I also heard Karlos Dansby is a free agent. That may not be a bad idea...just as I think they should keep George Catavalos around for the job he did with the secondary. Although, that may have been mostly on Perry Fewell, as he was the defensive coordinator and his specialty is DB's.
  14. Didn't see this anywhere, thought I would throw it out there for everybody... http://www.buffalonews.com/494/story/929617.html Picking defensive coordinator is a priority for Bills' Gailey Choice of 3-4 or 4-3 is major factor By Allen Wilson Buffalo News Sports Reporter Updated: January 20, 2010, 11:39 PM Gailey spent his first day on the job trying to put together a coaching staff. Chances are good that finding a defensive coordinator is at the top of his priority list. The Denver Post reported the Bills requested permission from the Broncos to speak with Mike Nolan, but he agreed to become Miami's defensive guru before the Bills introduced Gailey as their new coach. The fact that the Bills reportedly were interested in Nolan is another indication that Gailey is serious about trying to switch to the 3-4 defense. Clancy Pendergast ran the 3-4 in Kansas City, though he was recently demoted after just one year as defensive coordinator. Pendergast also ran a 3-4 part of the time in Arizona in 2008. He was a defensive assistant under Gailey in Dallas, and they worked together for eight months in Kansas City in 2009 before Gailey was fired by first-year head coach Todd Haley. Another coordinator with 3-4 experience is Tim Lewis, currently the secondary coach in Seattle. Lewis was Bill Cowher's defensive coordinator in Pittsburgh from 2000 to '03 but was fired because, according to reports, his style was not aggressive enough for Cowher's liking. Jim Bates was Gailey's defensive line coach in Dallas and was Miami's defensive coordinator when Gailey ran the Dolphins' offense. Bates, who has been unemployed since being fired in midseason by Tampa Bay, is a proven coach, but he only runs the 4-3 defense. Bates also is the opposite of Gailey in a key way. While Gailey tailors his offensive system to the talent available, Bates' style of defense is not as flexible. He tries to make the talent fit the scheme he runs. Gailey's defensive coordinator when he was the Cowboys' head coach was Dave Campo. But like much of that staff, he was a holdover from the Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer regimes. Campo, who succeeded Gailey as head coach in Dallas and is currently its secondary coach, is from the 4-3 school like Bates. Jon Tenuta served as Gailey's defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech. Tenuta's most recent job was as Charlie Weis' linebackers coach at Notre Dame. Tenuta has been mostly a 4-3 guy and has not worked in the NFL. Another option could be Dean Pees, who stepped down last week as defensive coordinator in New England. He is being courted by Denver. As for other spots on Gailey's staff, here are some potential candidates: • Quarterbacks and receivers: Buddy Geis, a close associate of Gailey's, is a strong possibility to come to Buffalo. Geis was Gailey's quarterbacks coach in Dallas and was assistant head coach and receivers coach at Georgia Tech when Gailey was head coach. • Special teams: Bruce DeHaven held the same job with the Bills from 1987 to '99. He spent the past three years in Seattle, but he's available now that new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll brought his special teams coach from Southern California. Joe Avezzano was a longtime special teams coach in Dallas and was retained when Gailey took over. But Avezzano would have to be lured out of retirement. • Offensive line: Gailey's position coach in Dallas was Hudson Houck, who is on Wade Phillips' Cowboys staff. Houck is one of the best in the business, but the Cowboys could block any interview request. Joe D'Allesandro worked for Gailey at Georgia Tech and with the Birmingham franchise of the World League of American Football in the early 1990s. D'Allesandro has a lot of experience but hasn't worked in the NFL. Larry Zierlein is looking for work after Pittsburgh fired him last week and hired Sean Kugler from the Bills. Zierlein has a vast amount of experience in the NFL and major colleges. He also served as an aide to then-Bills offensive line coach Jim McNally in 2006. Defensive Backs coach George Catavolos has no connection with Gailey, but he has plenty of NFL experience. He held the dual role of defensive backs coach and assistant head coach in Indianapolis from 1998 to 2001. Catavolos guided a Bills secondary that helped the team finish second in the NFL with 28 interceptions, including nine by safety Jairus Byrd, which tied for the league lead and set a franchise rookie record.
  15. :censored: :w00t: After telling Cablelady, and myself, that I would stay away from this place for a few days after my anxiety went through the roof today, I found myself lurking. I happen to open this post first, and I must say...I am blown away. I am happy this was the first, and only, post I will open for the rest of tonight. What you just said is "awesomeness" is every sense of the word! WOW! I totally am with you 100% on EVERYTHING you just said. I do not think anybody could twist words so much, to where EVERY "Bills fan" should be able to relate. GREAT WORK MY FRIEND...Welcome aboard and I look forward to some more "rants!"
  16. I am 27 years old...and that is scary, sad stuff. My prayers go out to the (no pun intended), Adams' family and the Bears' football family.
  17. They didn't make Mike Tomlin look this good...and he has gotten a head coach job AND WON a super bowl, since leaving that "all-pro" defense!
  18. i have one thing to say, sashay-shante, shante-shante, shante, shante, shante!
  19. Yeah, I decided to stay with the local 'pop warner' team...I am learning a lot from Dick and Turk. ohhhhhhhhhhhh snap!
  20. Run game, defense, Favre and...wait for it... ...THE FUTURE HEAD COACH OF YOURRRRRRR BUFFFFFFALOOOO BILLSSS LESSSSSLIEEEE FRAAAAAAAAAZIERRRRR!!!
  21. and he sounds like an unprofessional a-hole in some of those responses. ALL HAIL ESPN!
  22. The more I read about this guy, I am starting to like this idea a little bit. He really knows how to get the best out of his QB's. Didnt we have success once before with a guy from the CFL?
  23. I agree and am on board 100% with this hire, as I have been shouting the name "Leslie Frazier" for 2 years now. I really think that this guy has what it takes to be a successful NFL head coach. However, will Ralph, Russ and Buddy supply him with the staff and players that he needs to bring that success to Orchard Park, NY? Mike Tomlin was the Defensive Coordinator in Minnesota, before being hired as the Head Coach in Pittsburgh. Leslie Frazier was the successor to Tomlin, and did/has done things with that defense and those players, that Tomlin did not achieve while in Minnesota. Frazier was a very solid NFL player and knows what it is like to lose your playing career to an injury, which is a major problem here...and I am sure he has noticed that and would do anything to fix it. This is not a bad thing for us here in Buffalo. Frazier's talent in Minnesota is not that far ahead of our own here in Buffalo. I would go as far as saying, there is NO difference with the exception of Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and EJ Henderson. Defensive-Line: Schobel, Kelsay, K. Williams and Stroud are a very formidable group as a D-Line. Frazier would bring in a few guys to compliment those that I already mentioned, which in the end, would make said D-Lineman that much better. Do you think that Jared Allen is THAT much better than Aaron Schobel? No, Allen just has the 2 Williams' to work next to. D-Linemen that Frazier could bring in, include: DE Ray Edwards and DT Fred Evans...both will be free agents in 2010. Brian Robison and Pat Williams will be available in 2011. Linebackers: Overall, I think we have better talent than Minnesota at these positions. However, I do not believe we have them in the right place to succeed. Paul Posluzny and Kawika Mitchell ARE starting NFL linebackers. They ARE good and have the required, talented skill set to succeed at this level. Mitchell has already proved this on a Super Bowl winning team and when he was with Kansas City, although I think he may be better suited in the middle. Aaron Maybin needs to be moved to OLB with his speed and agility, he would make for a nice pass rushing OLB. Nic Harris and Ashlee Palmer seem to be quality backup guys who have a decent skill set. Other than that, we do not have much. The Vikings, with Greenway and Henderson, have a better d-line in front of them, which makes them better. However, I think with the right help and coaching, Mitchell and POZ could be just as good as them. The only thing they have, that we could use, is a linebacker like Jasper Brinkley. That kid WILL BE a stud, and I do not believe we have anybody on our roster as good as him. Linebackers that Frazier could bring in, include: Chad Greenway, Ben Leber and Erin Henderson (restricted)...but these guys will not be Free Agents until 2011. Secondary: Buffalo's secondary is better, hands down. I would take, any day of the week, McGee-McKelvin-Florence-Corner, over, Winfield-Griffin-Paymah-Sapp...no doubt in my mind, we have better CB's overall. I think he would do wonders with our Safeties, and Whitner-Byrd could become 1 of the top combos in the league. With Lankster and Sargeant, we have 2 young guys who have potential, with Sargeant being able to play CB and FS. We do not need much, if any, help here. But there are a few guys on the Vikings squad worth mentioning. We all know Winfield, he is great against the run, but he is getting older and I am comfortable with what we have. Griffin is a good CB too, but again, I like who we have. The only guy worth taking a look at, that will be available this off-season, is SS Eric Frampton...but he is restricted. I REALLY think that Leslie Frazier is a well qualified candidate, and he is probably our best option...seems like our only option right now. However, maybe this is a blessing in disguise for us. We have good personnel here for him to work with, and like I said, I am sure he would bring some of his own guys like Rex Ryan did when he left the Ravens for the Jets, bringing Leonhard and Bart Scott. He would also probably make some moves, as he is the one who wanted and went after Jared Allen. We have plenty of young, hungry guys who want a chance to prove there worth...let's let Leslie get the best out of them, like he does... "And yet, everywhere he goes, we see a pattern: young players bloom quickly, defenses get nasty, safety play is top-notch." What else could we want or need, than what that sentence above describes??? He has worked with some of the best defensive coaches to ever grace the sidelines of a football field. He has done more with that defense than Tomlin did, who mind you, has won a Super Bowl as a Head Coach. He IS our guy. It is just a matter of who he would bring along with him. My choice would be Eric Bieniemy, Pat Morris, Jimmie Johnson and George Stewart, who are all positional coaches in Minnesota who have done a very nice job with thier skilled players. Darrell Bevel would be a nice Offensive Coordinator, but I doubt he would leave Minnesota to come to Buffalo for the same job. Just give the guy a chance people. Read up on him before you blast him with your negativity. Things could be a lot worse...we could still be stuck with Dick Jauron. We could have kept holdovers from that regime...like Perry Fewell. Bless his heart, I love the guy and wish him the best, but I do not think he is a better choice than Leslie Frazier.
  24. Even if so...who does he bring with him? Do you think that anyone other than position assistants will come here to work with him? I mentioned this last week...he has some cast members out there I would not mind seeing come with him if he IS the guy. I think it was the O-line coach, RB's coach and the WR's coach. I really like what they have done with the young players they have. There is no reason to think Lynch cannot turn into Peterson, he was right there with him their rookie season. Sidney Rice, although with Favre throwing to him, as turned into a stud...no reason that cannot be done with Lee Evans, or even James Hardy...he was touted just as highly as Rice was. And we have some very nice pieces on the o-line. I would much rather have some of the staff from Minnesota...than some of the other teams we have looked into.
  25. I'll take Homer Simpson right about now.
