  1. Word is that Levitre,Wang, Wood and the rest of the oline have started a new strength training regimen and have really beefed up this year. Apparently this is the routine they've been doing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbsSeVr5NSI&sns=em

    Ok...I gotta ask...

What is the difference between the "Shake Weight" and "Rubbing one out"?

Looks like the same motions/movements...has to work the same muscles!?! Right?!?

LOL! (Sorry, couldn't resist...ESPECIALLY with the name of the players we are referring to!)

  2. I'd like to think of Buffalo Bills fans as more then just casual fans, I think the Bills have some of the most diehard fans in all sports and are very knowledgeable about their team.

Its tough to find joy in a team where most fans are aware of how bad coaches and players are before they actually show it to the rest of the world.

If this new HC can't overhaul the offense in terms of a better scheme, better game plan and actually out think the opponents on game day then he won't be an improvement over the last staff. Most already realize he will out play call the last two OC's, its just a question of "IF" he can find innovative ways to get the receivers open and make holes for the running backs.

If Chan Gailey can actually improve the O line performance without upgrading both tackle positions he will be a miracle worker in my eyes. The biggest question is... will the line allow whomever the QB is to take 5-7 step drops to deliver a deep pass?

To be honest with you...in Gailey's offense, I dont think you will see much more than 3-5 step drops...

Especially with our O-Line and offensive weapons/speed...there will be no need for 7 step drops!

  3. There will be some pretty profound roster turnover headed into next season...here is my 53 man roster for 2010

    * - Starter

QB (3) - *Brohm, Fitzpatrick, Brown (Edwards doesn't make it out of camp!)

RB (5) - *Jackson, Spiller, Lynch, McIntyre

WR (6) - *Evans, *Hardy, Johnson, Easly, Parrish, C. Jackson

TE (3) - *Nelson, *Schouman, Matthews

OL (9) - *Bell, *Levitre, *Hangartner, *Wood, *Green, Calloway, Meredeth, Wang, Gaddis

    K (1) - Lindell

    LS (1) - Sanborn

DE (4) - *Stroud, *Edwards, Sp. Johnson, Carrington

    DT (3)- *Williams, Troupe, Harvey

OLB (5) - *Maybin, *Schobel, Kelsay, Batten, Coleman

ILB (4) - *Posluszny, *Mitchell, Davis, Moats

CB (5) - *McGee, *McKelvin, Florence, Corner, Youboty

    S (4) - *Wilson, *Byrd, Witner, Scott

    P (1) - Moorman

Notable Cuts - Trent Edwards, Jonathan Stupar, Chad Simpson, John McCargo, Nick Harris, Jon Corto, Cory Harris, Ellis Lankster, Chris Ellis, Keith Ellison

Surprise makes - Levi Brown, Chad Jackson, Mike Matthews, Christian Gaddis, Lonnie Harvey, Antonio Coleman

I can't take somebody seriously who doesn't know how to spell a player's name, let alone not knowing their name at all!

  4. You have got to be kidding right? A Pro Rugby player with zero American football experience thinks he can play NFL-level football as anything other then a kicker??

What's even more pathetic is Buddy Nix showing inteterst in converting this guy. He thinks he can play linebacker or be a kick returner? (Or at least that's what Inglis's agent thinks NFL teams think he can play). Inglis has never put on a pair of shoulder pads or run an American football play from the line of scrimmage, and he can just fly on up here, spend 3 days running around the practice field, and take a roster spot away from one of the 53 players who will end up making up the 2010 Buffalo Bills as a linebacker or kick returner?

First of all, just how many kick returners does Chan and Buddy think they need to have on one team? With Chad Simpson recently being signed, I don't think I'm going out on a limb here to say that the Bills are set at punt and kick off returners, without bringing a Pro Rubgy player into the mix.

Secondly, the last time I checked, linebackers in the NFL have to be pretty damn well versed in reading offenses and understanding defenses before they can get on the field. Being a "big guy who runs fast with no pads on" might be a good start to becoming a linebacker in American football, if you are an 18 year old kid walking on to a mid major college with a red shirt year to start learing how to read a damn defensive playbook!! but I don't hink the Bills can afford the luxury of making a crazy signing like that and simply "coaching him up." to eventually play linebacker on their brand new 3-4 defense! I liked the Andra Davis signing, and if the Bills think they need even more FA help at linebacker, I would be more impressed if they just brought in Adalius Thomas for the next three years, then to sign a rugby player project that couldn't possibly even learn to play linebacker for three years.

First off Chad Simpson sucks and won't make this team.

Second...the Bills cannot afford to let McGee, McKelvin, Spiller, Jackson and their top players return kicks.

Third...its not hard to say, "ok Greg, they are gonna punt the ball to you...catch it and run as fast and hard as you can go!" Or, "ok Greg, see Tom Brady? Just come off the edge as fast and hard as you can, and sack his ass!"

EVERY rookie that comes into the NFL has to learn a playbook and learn to read offense/defenses. Cameron Wake tore up the CFL, which is MUCH different than the NFL...and he is looking like a damn good pickup by Parcells for the Dolphins.

Who are you to say this guy wouldn't or couldn't cut it in the NFL?

  5. With all the rookie talent inserted into our O line would you as Bills fans think that we might take a chance on getting some veterans ? I think if we were to add 2 guys (if we could get them at a decent price) Flozell A & Alan F (hence the F-N-A) to put in the mix of the O line we would be more of a force & have the luxury of time for the rookies such as Wang & Wood (because of injury only) to get up to pare as far as there playing skills & have a veteran presence . After last year i don't see Bell on the left side being all that & a bag of chips, plus with Woods injury the added time for him would be a plus (& it couldn't hurt to have a guy like Fanaca in your ear), plus the way that decent veterans are not getting picked up because of the uncapped year , youth movement or what ever the case may be such as (T.O. , Brian Westbrook , Adaillius Thomas & a list of others ) as mini camps start we may be able to get these guys down the road at a decent price (which is what ole Ralph would like) if they haven't already been got !!

Not to mention Gailey already has a relationship with Flozell . So what do you think ??:unsure:

Since Faneca is already signed in Arizona, I guess that takes away part of your FNA equation...

...what we REALLY need on the O-Line is some NWA's! (If ya don't know what an NWA is, look it up or go watch ESPN's 30 for 30 show, "Straight Outta L.A."...you will figure it out!

But we need NWA's ALL OVER THE FIELD for us!

  6. Cushing has been suspected of using steroids since he was a junior in high school. At this point, the lies are so central to who he is as a person that he'd be willing to say just about anything.

By the way, Tom Modrak's leak to the press that he wanted Cushing over Maybin doesn't look so good now, does it? Watch Cushing's on-field production fall off in the same way as Merriman's has since his positive 'roids test.

Were you not JUST crying about that in another thread???

Then you totally contradict yourself in this thread!

  7. I am amused by all of the posts talking about the "new" front office and how different things are now that Buddy Nix is running the show. It's total nonsense. All they did was elevate a semi-retired scout to the GM position at the same time they promoted Brandon to CEO -- meaning Buddy's position in the pecking order barely changed. They traded Doug Whaley for John Guy and that's a big improvement, no doubt about it, but all of the commentators have focused thus far on the draft.

The college scouting operation is all the same, headed by Tom Modrak, the guy who's run our drafts since 2002. I've had numerous conversations with people in the organization about the draft process. While Dick Jauron and Brandon had final say, Dick never overruled a Modrak recommendation when it came to a specific position. So, yes, Dick did decide to take a safety over a quarterback, for instance, but he took the safety on the board rated highest by Modrak.

This is an important distinction. In 2009, Modrak wanted Cushing. Fine. But he also had Maybin rated as his #1 DE-pass rusher. Thought Orakpo took too many plays off. So when Jauron-Brandon decided they needed a pass rusher, they went with the guy Modrak recommended. And the guy they passed on went to the Pro Bowl.

This was hardly the first time that happpened.

In 2008, our needs were identified in post-season review as CB and a WR. We went with Modrak's recommendations of McKelvin and Hardy and passed on a Pro Bowler in both cases (Rodgers-Cromartie in the 1st and DeSean Jackson in the 2nd). In 2007, Modrak had a mid-1st round grade on Poz so we traded up to get him instead of standing pat and getting a better player in David Harris. In 2006, we went up to get John McCargo, another guy Modrak had a 1st round grade on (Modrak was the source for his friend Len Pasquarelli's article about the guy).

In the Donahoe era, Modrak selected Roscoe Parrish over Vincent Jackson (taken 6 picks later). He was instrumental in the Losman selection (also source for this Pasquarelli article suggesting JP could go 1st round). In 2003, he recommended Kelsay over Osi Umenyiora (taken 8 picks later). This isn't hindsight bias a la Tom Brady in the 6th round...we're talking about the pick coming down to 2 guys, Modrak recommending one and the VERY NEXT GUY off the board at the position goes to the pro bowl.

You all want to pretend this was a good draft, that the "new regime" is taking a fresh approach and getting the right guys in place, fine. You can believe that...glad Russ Brandon didn't have to work hard with the spin this year. But just know that the same guy who made all of bum recommendations in the past is the same guy who recommended Troup over Linval Joseph and Carrington over Earl Mitchell (perfect 3-4 DE who played DT at Arizona).

If the past is any guide, watch for Troup and Carrington to struggle while Joseph and Mitchell head to Honolulu.

What does Rob Petitti making $271,287 in performance-based incentives, have ANYTHING to do with John McCargo?

  8. Wow guys I guess I have some news for you. Josh Reeds stinks and always has his career is over we should have cut him three years ago. He's not serviceable, tell me how good of a blocker he is again. Yeah that 5-7 frame was tough to move around. He's just another bad mistake Marv made as GM. Jauron stuck with him had to pretend no no we like Josh he's a good player. With Evans and Owens Josh had the back up corner on him all the time He will rip it up. Ended up ripping us off.

A lot of guys the Bills let go or cut the career in the NFL is over not just Buffalo

    Wow. You are an idiot.

What does Marv Levy have ANYTHING to do with Josh Reed???

Awesome grammer too...you make NO sense at all!

  9. Let's see...for controversy sake I'll try this myself first and try to pick a few outlandish picks to stir the pot up a bit!!

    #1 Indianapolis #17 Wash

    #2 Baltimore #18 Carolina

    #3 New Orleans #19 Miami

    #4 NY Jets #20 Seattle

    #5 Dallas #21 Tennesee

    #6 Minnesota #22 S.F. #7 New England #23 Arizona

    #8 Houston #24 Tampa Bay

    #9 Green Bay #25 Chicago

    #10 Atlanta #26 St. Louis

    #11 Philadelphia #27 Detroit

    #12 Pittsburgh #28 Cleveland

    #13 NY Giants #29 Oakland

    #14 Cincinatti #30 Buffalo

    #15 San Diego #31 Jacksonville

    #16 Denver #32 k.city

So what exacly was the point in this?

Why is Cincy next to Buffalo? Are you saying them at 14 and the Bills at 30 is outlandish?

I would say everything looks on par!

  10. first of all you need to get your facts straight

Jason Peters was an undrafetd rookie free agent the Bills signed to play tackle

Jared Gaither did not slip to the later rounds because of his work ethic, he wasnt even in the draft. He was selected in the 5th round of the Supplemental Draft and where a player is taken in that draft is entirely different then where he is taken in the NFL draft.

I guess since Baltimore decided to draft Oher it meant they must have saw some deficiency in Gaithers play? How about they just thought Oher was too good to pass up where they were picking or that they knew Gaither was coming up on free agency and they didnt want to pay him the going rate for top LTs in the league? Maybe they thought they would make something on their investment of a 5th round pick in the Supplemental Draft while also getting great value in Oher where they were able to get him

i dont know about anyone else but that just sounds like good football to me

Agreed 100%! Well done Max!

Gaither was deemed academically ineligible for the 2007 season, being allowed to return in 2008. Instead of waiting and sitting out an entire year, he realized his potential and entered into the supplemental draft.

Yes, his college coach saw a problem with his work ethic and attitude...but that had ZERO effect on why he was not in the draft or where he ultimately ended up being drafted.

Here is a good article about Gaither and his habits...which can most certainly be changed, just as they were in 2008.

    http://www.realclearsports.com/blognetwork...ed-gaither.html

I would definitely want him on this team and I WOULD be alright with giving up a 2nd rounder to get him...he is a MASSIVE man and is an elite LT in the NFL....we could get that 2nd back by trading away a CB or RB that proves himself this year, ala Lynch and/or Youboty/McGee/Corner etc...

  11. and every thing you post is just mean and hateful i feel very sorry for you that you have to take every thing so seriously.I was just trying to have a little fun. Go ahead and call me stupid all you want that's ok I can take it.Because I Would rather be a 1000 times as stupid as you think I am than to be any thing like you thank you and have a nice life.

    Get 'em Papa!

I hope all is well...wishing the grandson and your daughter good health!

  12. Here's the latest rankings on where various Bills stand overall in the league. Turns out that Schobel, Kyle Williams, Stroud and now Posluszny are very highly rated. What do you make of these rankings?

    Poz’s playmaking right up there

    By Chris Brown - Posted May 12, 2010 – 10:29 am

On Monday we showed how AdvancedNFLStats determined playmaking ability through new statistical models that measure WPA or positive win probability added and EPA or positive expected points added. Aaron Schobel and Kyle Williams were both among the best at their respective positions for the 2009 regular season. Buffalo’s middle and soon to be inside linebacker fared well at his position too.

“+WPA” and “+EPA” add up the value of every sack, interception, pass defense, forced fumble or recovery, and every tackle or assist that results in a setback for the offense. What these stats measure ultimately is playmaking ability.

Paul Posluszny (2.00) had the second highest WPA among linebackers for the 2009 regular season with only Lamarr Woodley (2.10)faring better than him.

In positive expected points added per game, Poz ranked third overall among linebackers finishing behind only Carolina’s Thomas Davis and Houston’s Brian Cushing.

Here’s the top 15 list of linebackers for this playmaking statistic. Not a bad showing by Pittsburgh linebackers with all four of their starters in the top 15 (Woodley, Harrison, Timmons and Farrior). It’s encouraging knowing Buffalo is moving to that scheme as well.

    56-L.Woodley PIT

    51-P.Posluszny BUF

    51-J.Vilma NO

    52-D.Harris NYJ

    52-P.Willis SF

    92-J.Harrison PIT

    52-J.Beason CAR

    52-R.Lewis BLT

    59-L.Fletcher WAS

    55-C.Session IND

    58-G.Brackett IND

    54-Ge.Hayes TB

    94-L.Timmons PIT

    93-A.Spencer DAL

    51-J.Farrior PIT

Here's the link if you want it:

    http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/05/12/p...right-up-there/

Given recent events...can we get a recount on that to make sure Poz shouldn't be 2nd, only behind Thomas Davis?

  13. I just ready an article on this guy on BB website, it's already posted on this site. Could this guy be a surprise contributor this year? He has the size to play NT, I guess we'll see how he plays in the preseason. If nothing more he may give them another body on their d-line...a massive body. If anyone gets a chance to read the article on the Bills sight about him, I like how he mentions the competition with Williams and Troupe at the position and how it's making them compete at a higher level.

Here is some info on him coming out of college...I really like his chances and I highlighted why I do...

    http://cdsdraft.com/profile.php?id=3624

    Overview

Big tough MEAC run-stuffing true NT. Lonnie didn't do much for the Morgan Bears his first two season, but as a junior in 2007 he tallied 36 tackles (14 solo) with three sacks while blocking a field goal. During his senior year in 2008 he racked up 28 total tackles (17 solo) with 5.5 TFLs, a sack and a pick.

    Strengths

Massive man who moves it around pretty good. Pure NT candidate. Walks people back when they are trying to pass pro. Swims well. Bull rushes with alacrity when the switch is on. Can fight a double team. Stones MEAC OGs when they are run blocking. Stats are under-inflated due to Morgan's religious rotation of their DTs

    Weaknesses

Doesn't give consistent max effort. Doesn't always protect his legs. Bites on misdirection. Plays to the level of his opponent's effort. Doesn't make many plays away from the LOS. Has never played all of a team's defensive snaps so there will be questions surrounding stamina and conditioning. (This he is working on...proof is below...)

    http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...92-6c105a6f0e8d

Yet another positive Harvey has taken from the Bills this offseason has been the hiring of John Gamble and Eric Ciano as co-strength and conditioning coaches. Harvey feels they’ve helped to improve his endurance.

“I feel great. I still feel like I can go,” he said after practice last weekend. “Thanks to the offseason conditioning program, I feel good.”

“I also take pride in being one of the most powerful people on the field at any given time. That’s not a cocky statement. I just have great confidence in my ability.”

  14. I know it's been re-hashed again and again, but I still can't come to grips with it.

How on Earth is this offense going to do ANYTHING with the starting front-five looking like it is now?

Assume no trade for Gaither (it becomes less likely each day). Your starting front-five looks like this:

    D. Bell (coming off of serious knee injury; wasn't strong enough or good enough before the injury)

    Levitre (solid but young)

Hangartner (average-to-below-average last year, but at least he has some experience)

Wood (coming off of serious leg injury; may not be ready for season)

    Green (old; sucks)

Backups are Meredith, Wang, Hennessy, Calloway.

    Yikes.

I fail to see how this unit holds up for one game, let alone an entire season. Very little talent, almost no experience, and ZERO depth. Is this coaching staff setting itself up for disaster? I understand that Rome wasn't built in a day, but they've done almost NOTHING to address what was the weakest (and most important) link heading into the offseason.

I know the common refrain is that this team still ran the ball fairly well last year with the line in shambles, and that Gailey's playcalling and schemes will help make up the difference. Well, I'm calling B.S. on that argument. This team couldn't run a normal offense last year because it had no blockers. If I hear Gailey say during a post-game interview - even one freakin' time - that the offense wasn't able to be effective because the blocking wasn't holding up, then he will officially have lost me. There are no excuses. Either they have a plan, or they plan to fail.

Really, look at this roster and tell me you're not terrified.

I have more of a problem with Cornell Green at RT than I do D. Bell at LT...and I don't mind D. Bell getting a shot at the LT position. I would rather have Meredith come in at RT for Green, or at LT and Bell moved to RT.

The interior of our O-Line is totally solid, IF Eric Wood comes back healthy. The only thing that would make the interior better was if Wood was moved to Center, given he's healthy, and if Calloway pans out at RG.

We have plenty of capable guys, it is just up to them to pull it together. I mean, come on...we couldn't possibly be any worse this year than we were last year...can we?

I say not a chance in hell.

  15. His name was mysteriously absent from all of Chris Brown's minicamp notes and articles......hmmmm....interesting....

    Gaither for Maybin?

No way...we need Maybin in this 3-4...and I am going to call it right now, Aaron Maybin will surprise A LOT of people this season and I would not be surprised if he gets double-digit sacks. He is a good player, has good mentors, shows passion and love for the game...and he has all the athletic ability in the world, he just needs the coaching. Another plus is that there is not much film on him and what he can do, from college and the pros, that is a big advantage for the Bills.

If we trade any PLAYER to the Ravens, I think it should be a WR or a CB...or Chris Kelsay.
