  1. I think I like Doug Pederson as my first choice based on his body of work but I'm warning up to the Joe Brady idea despite how inexperienced he is.
  2. FYI Joe Brady was a WR for 4 years and then a coach for 2 years under Jimmye Laycock at William and Mary, which we all know is McDermott's alma mater. He also worked with Sean Payton who runs a combo WCO with E-P. Most importantly, he's a big RPO proponent which is actually alot of our base offensive design. Just saying there's a connection there.
  3. I thought it would take Quinn a few years re-proving himself running a defense to get his name back out there, but I think obviously the quick turnaround that the Dallas defense made has pushed him back to the top of alot of lists. Atlanta had issues in the front office IMO as well as what happened to them after they choked away the SB. If you're a team like Denver who doesn't want to go into a complete overhaul, I think he is a good fit.
  4. As with most things, everyone is trying to add or complicate things with OT. I think the answer is really simple. Get rid of the coin toss altogether. At both the start of the game and in OT, Home team gets the option to receive, kick, or defer just like if they had won the coin toss. No more OTs "coming down to a coin toss." Also makes earning home field advantage much more important(as it should be). With OT, everyone will know the stakes well before the game even starts which I think is part of if not most of the issue.
  5. Those QBs will likely all beat up on each other. Did we all just forget what the AFC was like with Brady, Manning, Big Ben, and Rivers in it for 15 years? Save for Rivers, those QBs all won Super Bowls.
  6. Mort has had a great source within the Bills organization since the Pegulas took over. I can remember specifically he had scoops on several Bills related news items. I would trust his info.
  7. I think adding a more talented young CB would have been in the plan regardless of White's injury. They are paying White close to the top of the CB market. And now Taron Johnson is making significant money. It makes sense to bring in another 1st round rookie to that can start by the end of year 1 to balance out the spending at that position.
  8. We didn't run a predominate spread/RPO based offense in 2019. I think that plus our lack of physical talent inside on the OL has affected the play calling in the red zone.
  9. Never to early to talk off-season/draft/team-building. Draft: Early rounds - CB, G/C, WR Late rounds to build depth - DT, LB, TE, S Free agent targets: Interior OL Big Slot WR RB DL Some FA Targets I'm interested in WR: Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster OL: Andrew Norwell RB: Tony Pollard, Cordarelle Patterson DL: Akeim Hicks
  10. 1. Lombardi already has had to come out and say that this is not something that Flores said to Tua. 2. Both Omar Kelly and Amando Salguero (long time Dolphins beat reporters) have said that if Flores preferred Herbert that the Dolphins would have drafted him and that at the time of Tua's drafting that all 3 (Flores, Grier, Ross) were on board with drafting Tua. It wasn't until after Flores began to work with Tua that soured on him as a player.
  11. I think Frazier has a legit shot at the Bears job based on his connection to Polian/Dungy and the staff that he could bring in to work with Fields. Plus, he has HC experience and NFC North experience. Don't really see him as a fit anywhere else.
  12. He was a shoe-in for the Chargers job. He turned it down because of questions about ownership and having to share the stadium with the Rams. *Buffalo is a small place😉
  13. I think John Butler would be the DC and they'd make DL coach Eric Washington the Asst HC. I'm skeptical that Frazier will actually get another HC job though. I think he is really only a candidate in Chicago with Polian and Dungy having a strong presence in their search and if he doesn't get that job then I doubt he goes anywhere.
  14. Yeah. It's definitely just not really a fit. I'm calling it now: Aaron Rodgers, Jim Harbaugh, and Vic Fangio will be a package deal in the off-season.
  15. He'll be tied to wherever Jim Harbaugh goes. Probably Chicago or Vegas. We implement some of the same coverage philosophies but I don't think Fangio would ever take a job where he wasn't the #1 defensive voice/decision maker in the room. And he won't be that here.
  16. Fangio will be Jim Harbaugh's DC in either Chicago or Vegas. I also highly doubt Fangio takes a job where he doesn't have full autonomy over the defense, which he wouldn't have here.
  17. The big rumor is that they really like Dan Quinn for that job. I'll take Mike Munchak off the that staff if he comes free though!
  18. The problem is that these gap runs don't match up with our preferred passing concepts so there is typically a discontinuity of the run game with the pass game. This was discussed alot by someone in the national blogging sphere but I forget who at the moment. If they want to run the offense that Daboll really wants to run and the passing concepts that Allen seems to do well with then they'll need to make changes to the types of players that they've targeted for the interior OL.
  19. They have lots of flexibility with the cap for next year and could get to around $40 million in space without losing anyone significant. I'd fully expect the 1st move would be to get Diggs extension done before this off-season FA because you have a bunch of high end WRs expected to hit free agency (Davante Adams, Chris Godwin, Allen Robinson, OBJ, etc.) and could blow up the WR salary market. $20 million for high end WR will seem like a bargain in two years. Luckily for the Bills, they can probably offer him an extension in the Hopkins range and still lower his cap hits in the first few years. The Bills can get to $29 million in cap space just by cutting Beasley, Klein, Feliciano, and Ford. Cut Morse(still a good player but probably not worth top 5 center money) and Star and you can get to $42 million in space. That doesn't include cap space created by reworking deals or Diggs extension. $42 million in space with the only significant loss being Mitch Morse is a pretty good cap situation to be in IMO.
  20. It seems by reading this thread that some fans can't tell the difference between being a pounding running team and just, you know, being able to execute running plays. You have to be able to at least be an average team running the ball. Or just have good schemes that are effective. I don't think anyone wants more running. Just don't be an embarrassment to the sport trying to run. You cannot just pass the ball every play despite what some people say.
  21. DL rotation itself isn't a problem. I think not having a consistent blue chip player there is really hurting us. It's really an overall issue with the defense in general since McBeane took over. Lack of difference makers on defense. They have great depth and overall talent and play really well as a unit but they lack the top end talent to really dominate. They can abuse below average offenses. We've seen it now for a while to be able to call it a pattern. Having a good DL rotation behind a stud (or 2) is probably the ideal situation for how we want to play defense AND i think that player most effectively would come from an interior DL position. I think obviously the Bills are missing that player. Ed Oliver has played well IMO but he hasn't been at that All-Pro level that i think you really need. In regards to Addison and Hughes, i think you are seeing a little bit of age creeping in. I doubt either of those guys is here next year. Yeah, they are paid well but NFL salaries are based on past performance for the most part and going into the year both of those guys weren't grossly overpaid. Long story short: is not the rotation; its the lack of high end talent.
  22. I hope this is less about reverting to a run first approach and more about having more run calls built in overall. Even when they run, every run is an RPO or a QB read from shotgun. I'm hoping this just means that they are going to build in more under center runs and runs that allow the line to attack more rather than be passive.
  23. Troy Hill contract 2yrs, 4.5 mil per
  24. The have one of the best LTs in the NFL. They don't have a high $$ QB. And their OL is one of the best in football. Also Ramczyc is one of the best OL in the NFL. Depending on the scheme, RT is the 2nd most important position on the OL. Don't see a problem with this really
  25. He's going to be the 5th DE/backup interior rusher this year as he adds weight. But he is a freak athlete so he realistically could be at 280/290 by training camp.
