Taiwan Jones on About The Game Pod (Squib related)
BrooklynBills replied to essential's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's only in his 2nd year in the NFL. Maybe a veteran K would know or have more confidence to speak up about it. For all we know, Bass could've been thinking it but was unsure if he should speak up and just thought "hey - games over probably" -
2022 Offseason Primer Position Group: Defensive Line
BrooklynBills replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Campbell is looking for his best shot to get a ring as it's probably his last year. I don't think it'll be that expensive. But if it's $10 mil on a 1 year deal, then yeah that'll be too much. -
2022 Offseason Primer Position Group: Defensive Line
BrooklynBills replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like the idea of signing Calais Campbell as a veteran guy who can play inside and out to mentor both Groot and Basham. Would give us that pressure DT that we can rotate inside also. He seems to have a relationship with Rousseau so I think he'd be open to it. He's not an All-Pro anymore but he can definitely still play. -
Beach chairs are back! (Kromer hired as OL Coach)
BrooklynBills replied to MWK's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just from a Xs and Os standpoint, I'm expecting: 1. WRs who are willing blockers. While the Bills ran a more power scheme when Kromer was here (although they ran much more zone when Anthony Lynn took over in 2016) and the Rams were a predominate zone scheme, a common tenet of both run game were having willing blockers at WR and even featuring them as lead blockers at times. Robert Woods was great at this both with the Bills and with the Rams. Kupp also is a great blocker. Gabe Davis already is a decent blocker in the run game. Diggs - whatever, with WR1 you can kind of scheme around asking him to block. I'm not sure WR3 is on the roster right now TBH. 2. Even less utilization of a FB. More utilization of 2TE sets. Definitely think we'll be in the FA market for a 2nd TE and might move on from Gilliam. I think they'll want someone who is more of a TE who can fill in on 2RB sets than someone like Gilliam who does both but isn't really good at either. UFA TE OJ Howard is intriguing to me. He'll likely be cheap and he played the H-back role often at Alabama. Panthers TE Ian Thomas is another guy who is a great blocker with athleticism that would be a great, cheap TE2. -
The WR FA list for 2022 is very intriguing…
BrooklynBills replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
CB: stop gap vet - $4-5 million/yr at the most. Hopefully can get someone cheaper and pair with a 1st or 2nd rounder who starts by mid-season. DT: re-sign Harry unless the number gets crazy. No more than $4-5 mil/yr. Draft DT depth in round 3-4, especially if you are taking about a 1tech guy. IOL: re-sign Bates($2ish million/yr, extend/restructure Morse(if he isn't interested, cutting saves $8 million which can be used to find another IOL), sign another mid-tier G who actually fits the blocking scheme. Draft a G on day 1 or 2 who will start by mid-season (hopefully sooner). If they release/restructure the obvious players, they'll have roughly 20-30 million in cap space. IMO we are not going to be breaking the bank for in FA for G or DT and anyone worth a big contract at CB will just be way too expensive. IMO, WR is a sneaky spot where we could give out a pretty good contract because WR3 is a big part of the offense and some of the guys available are young enough where a long term deal could make sense for our cap, especially if they can keep that initial year 1 number low. I think actually think Chris Godwin is someone that we will target. He's a monster in the slot and can play outside. Would let us not have to play 2 different slot WRs depending on what kind of coverage we are seeing. -
3rd round maybe

With a late 1st round pick, I'm looking to get the most talented player who can be a starter. I don't need to chase a Chiefs stopper or a speed need. You can get defensive depth in FA and you can get speed past the 1st round. Also, I think we have several positional needs so I don't think its right to hone in on absolutely getting a CB with 25th pick or absolutely getting a speed WR there either. That said, I'm hoping one of these guys is available with that pick: CB Roger McCreary CB Ahmad Gardner WR Chris Olave WR Jameson Williams DE David Ojabo CB makes alot of sense to me not just because its a need position ton but because they will be able to get a cheap 1st round contract to pair with Tre White's for the next few years. I don't think they'll have the cap flexibilty to spend at this position in FA in future years and I would expect us to take a CB early and in the mid rounds. I'm also looking to trade down out of this pick if we can get and extra 2 and 3. I might rather have multiple 2s and 3s in this draft TBH.

Vikings Oline coach Phil Rauscher (Twitter speculation)
BrooklynBills replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you can get way more options for RPOs if you are building it off wide zones. -
Athletic article forecasting our cap casualties
BrooklynBills replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't see Morse or Beasley back at their current cap numbers. Morse has the 4th highest cap hit for a center in the NFL. He's a good player but I think they'll be looking to either get that number down or find a similar player at a lower number. -
Vikings Oline coach Phil Rauscher (Twitter speculation)
BrooklynBills replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Another connection not really getting attention is that he worked as an assistant with James Cregg in Denver (they were both under Dennison) who has been the LSU OL coach and run game coordinator since 2018 which means he'd have a connection to Joe Brady. I know everyone is pounding the table for Munchak because he's got a great track record but I think they might be trying to find the right fit of running game that is going to mesh with our passing scheme and concepts (RPOs, PA, etc.) and it didn't surprise me that they would want a wide zone guy. -
Will the Titans go after Mitch Trubisky?
BrooklynBills replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall
As long as they can find a trade partner for Sam Darnold(they might have to send a draft pick with him), I think the Panthers make alot of sense for Mitch as they'll be looking for a starting QB and will not be going through the draft and don't really have the draft capital to trade for one. -
Just going to say that he's been on the same staff as Mike Shula and Pat Shurmur, who both have strong connections to our coaching staff (Shurmur coached with McDermott in Philly and Shula coached with McDermott and Dorsey in Carolina), so he'd have a good resource to find out if he wanted to come here. I also think it's a good bet that one of Shula or Shurmur could be our next QB coach. Also, he's a Penn State guy just like Pegula.

Bills interviewing Raiders WR coach Edgar Bennett for OC
BrooklynBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bennett is about to fired in Vegas for whoever McDaniels is going to bring in. I'd bet this guy will be our RB coach. -

Pep Hamilton will be Jim Harbaugh's OC wherever he lands. -
Vikings GM was on the staff in SF when Harbaugh was there. Plus the Vikings can clear the cap space for Rodgers if they find someone to trade for Cousins ($35 million owed in salary which considering the recent extensions is about market value for him). Pretty sure Rodgers would love to play GB twice a year.

Brian Daboll hired to be Head Coach of NY Giants
BrooklynBills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that's why he really wants Dorsey to come with him. He'll need an OC that he really trusts to see the same things as him coverage wise in the booth to help diagnosing coverages. -
My worry with Brady is the little details of running an offense if he were to be the main guy. Very talented and creative coach but something in Carolina that was a problem was pass protection details. I think you'd need to pair him with other experienced offensive assistants. Not saying that isn't possible and there are coaches on the Saints staff that he would have relationships with that I'd be looking to poach but I don't think it's a situation where you could just drop him in as OC with our current staff. I think Pederson is just more experienced for what we would need from the OC which really would be the #1 voice in the offensive room. Dorsey would be somewhat status quo but with some question marks about how he will call games and lead weekly preparation. So I think my order would be: 1. Dorsey (and hope he takes the next steps as playcaller). Maybe bring in an experienced OC as an assistant. 2. Pederson 3. Brady

McDermott's first Offensive Coordinator hire back in 2017
BrooklynBills replied to Bag of Milk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody wanted the job. He wanted Daboll in the first year but Daboll wasn't interested (off the record though). Everyone assumed the team was tanking. -
With Allen, can the Bills de-emphasize skill positions?
BrooklynBills replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pretty sure that was code for "Hey Joe and Brian, if you want Cole Beasley, you'll have to trade me something for him." -
Bill O'Brien never coached Mac at Alabama

Offseason Trade Prediction: We acquire Saquan
BrooklynBills replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only time this offense looked good this year against above average competition was when the threat of Allen running was there. You need to mix in runs so the DL can't simply pin their ears back and pass rush every play and those runs need to not be negative plays. Plenty of teams are able to mix run and pass, have offensive success, and with lesser QBs. Secondly, Barkley had 90 catches out the backfield his rookie year and averages over 4 catches per game. He's a threat in the pass game. If the money and trade price makes sense, I'd be all over this move. He'll likely be cheaper than free agent options like Pollard or Edmunds. -
For this OC hire, E-P is secondary to having a strong grasp of the RPO game IMO. That's why the Bills were trying to transition to more zone blocking overall. It's a major part of our offense and Allen's success. I think they will want to continue that RPO stuff with a more effective ground game(means different style OL) while still taking deep shots down field. To me, that screams Pederson as that was his whole offense those first years with Wentz. I know it ended poorly for him there but there were a lot of other factors going on. (Long story short: Wentz regression, FO made him bring in Scangerello and Morningweg which muddied up the offensive system, etc). He's a good offensive coach who actually got alot of the offensive talent that he had when you really step back and look at it. The other RPO guy I'd like is Joe Brady. He definitely wants an NFL gig. Would have a connection to McD from both playing for Jimmye Laycock at William and Mary. He's currently rumored for the Miami Hurricanes OC job under Cristobal but we all know that Cristobal and McD run in the same circles and share philosophies so I think there's a strong connection there.
