  1. The Stadium situation is all that matters. Teams only move due to stadium issues. If we can't figure out a new stadium, they are gone. If we can, they'll stay.
  2. I think you will ultimately see the Chargers and an expansion team in LA. But the whole deal with LA is that the city wanted one shared stadium for the Rams and Raiders and the Raiders wanted to be by themselves. Al Davis had a deal in place to build an LA stadium but the city wanted them to share it with the Rams. The city can support football just fine and the Raiders would be there to this day if Al Davis hadn't pulled the plug. The NFL has also stated that THEY will control who is allowed to relocate to LA and when it will happen. It would seem they have a clear plan for LA.
  3. The AFL is a large part of the mythos of the NFL which is part of the league's appeal. Its why no team has been put in LA yet. Because LA is reserved for one of the Chargers, Rams, or Raiders depending on theor stadium situations. The Rams can leave after this season and need a new stadium. The Chargers and Raiders both need a new stadium as well and can leave at anytime. The Chargers specifically have stated that they won't be able to sustain a new franchise in LA without a new stadium. This is speculation but I would imagine that the Chargers have first dibs on the LA market if they cannot get a deal done in San Diego. They do not want to lose the Chargers brand being an original AFL team. This is not Tagliabue's NFL. This is Roger Goodell's NFL and these team brands are very important to the league's appeal. Obviously the Bills need to do their part but I think the league will make it as easy as possible for them to stay.
  4. I think the 49ers will find out exactly what Marrone did last year. That Stevie is not in great condition and that he does not always run the routes as designed. I think this is purely a football decision. It should not be forgotten that there was a lot of talk before last year's training camp about how Stevie would adjust to having to function in a more traditional route running system. We have a west coast based passing game which requires very specific route running. Johnson's success under Gailey came when he had less restrictions on his routes and could simply get to a certain spot on the field at a certain time. He is also a possession receiver with questionable hands. I think the 49ers will find out exactly what Marrone did last year. 5. The 4 DL on run downs will Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, and Alan Branch.
  6. 1 of these guys will be the pick. Don't be surprised if its Martin, the center. Move Wood to G. From the looks of the OTs they brought in, it sure looks like they are targeting 3rd round guys or if Koundijo slips to late 2nd and trade up to get him. I could see the Bills making more moves to get guys they are targeting and possibly only coming away with 3 or 4 players total out of this draft.
  7. As far as the depth chart goes: 1. Stevie Johnson 2. Sammy Watkins 3. Robert Woods 4. Mike Williams 5. Marquise Goodwin Bye TJ Graham. Easley will get the "6th spot" as a gunner. Brandon Kaufman likely moves to TE as he is now 6'5 245. But you can't really separate the TEs and WRs anymore. I could see them keeping 10 "pass catchers" next season. Stevie Johnson Sammy Watkins Robert Woods Mike Williams Marquise Goodwin Scott Chandler TJ Graham Tony Moeaki Brandon Kaufman Marcus Easley It sure looks crowded but I'd imagine they are going to be running ALOT of 3 and 4 WRs sets with EJ in the shotgun and 1 RB, which means they will need these guys on the field. Also, their WR budget is still pretty low considering they don't have to pay top dollar for Woods, Watkins, or Goodwin for at least 3 or 4 years.
  8. Carolina edit: also San Fran, just off the top of my head. I could see San Fran moving pick 100(last pick of 3rd round) or pick 129(end of round 4) for Stevie. They have a big need at reciever and have the ammo. They were also a rumored landing spot for him when was about to head into FA before we re-signed him. You are getting a potential starter with one of those picks in this deep draft.
  9. I think the logic that if EJ doesn't work out we need to use a 2015 1st round pick to draft his replacement is flawed. If EJ really fails, you go out and sign a veteran and draft a mid round guy next year.
  10. Kaufmann is just as big now as guys like Fleener or Eifert. Even Vernon Davis is 6'5 250. He'll have to work on his blocking some but I would imagine he will be just as effective as those guys in the blocking department. Most of those guys are split out some from the line anyway.
  11. The Donald would be selling this team to the highest bidder for a tidy profit in 7 or 8 years. He is a pure businessman and has shown nothing in the way of any passion for the NFL to make me think this would be anything but an investment opportunity to make more money down the line. It would be the beginning of the end.
  12. Go tell that to the Chargers. They are very happy with DJ Fluker.
  13. Completely different scenario. Pete Carroll is the architect of Seattle's defense.
  14. There is just no way you could just plug and play a guy into this position and expect the same style and running of the defense.
  15. I would not say the Seattle's defense is riddled with talent. They have the best CB in the game who became that player while at Seattle. If you look around the internet a bit, you will find some great articles breaking down seattle's scheme and explaining how versatile and multiple it is. We also have the personnel on D to run it.
  16. It would be a very typical Bills move. You can't really claim that you are all about winning and then go ahead and promote a guy who has, for all intents and purposes, failed as a DC in this league, and then spent the last few years coaching DBs at Southern University and Syracuse. As far as I'm concerned, we don't really have an in-house candidate for the job. You beat me to it.
  17. Continuity is great, but they need to hire the right guy for the job as well. I'd be looking at other organizations, namely Ken Norton Jr. from the Seahawks. I love their D, and has spent the last 10 years learning under Pete Carroll.
  18. I don't know if being outright cut is the answer, but I could see both being shopped around on trade market and having reduced roles moving forward. They chose Marrone to be the head coach. I just want them to go all in with him, even that means that some popular players are lost along the way. Just stick to a vision. if Johnson and Spiller (or anyone else for that matter) aren't in it, then so be it.
  19. This post is just so spot on. Spiller is constantly hurt and refuses to take hits up the middle. Remember when they talked early in the offseason about giving Spiller the ball all the time. Well, I think they found out real quick just how soft a runner he is. You need a RB who can hit it up between the tackles in the Read-Option. You don't need a pure downhill runner, but a guy who is not afraid to get small and pound it up the middle. Look at how successful McCoy is in Philly this year. He isn't a bounce it outside guy. And you can't build an offense around a RB who is always looking to bounce outside and avoid contact. And thinking on Stevie is that he just isn't that number one top flight WR that you put up with his lack of accountability. If was making catches all over the field and could run every route, you absolutely would. He is a good player with questionable character, questionable leadership, and who has continually not been a clutch performer. In the Carolina game, he literally spoke about how he was worried about dropping that pass. He was wide open! If they want to make a statement and move these guys outta here, I'm honestly all for it.
  20. Pettine wants to be a HC. It's one of the reasons he left the Jets. That said, I think it will take building this D into a top elite unit(think 1 or 2 overall) OR a few years of consistent success to really get his name out there. He has never interviewed for any HC jobs and usually you have to go through a few to get a job.
  21. But the ref was looking right at it.
  22. Need production out of running game here.
