  1. Poking around in Dennison's background, I wonder if they will try to bring in Jeremy Bates as QB or WR coach. The guy has been out of the NFL since 2012 but was seen as a coaching prodigy back then. He was Pete Carroll's original choice as OC in SEA but fired for "philosophical coaching differences." He's been tutoring QBs since 2012. But the guy was basically seen as the Adam Gase or Sean McVay of 2008-2012.
  2. Yes. His one year coaching an established QB with an OC who was a pretty prolific QB coach himself does not make me go "Ok, we are set with QB development and in the passing game." I'm not even saying that I don't like this hire. I'm just reserving praise until I see something that gives me confidence in the passing game. Sorry that I'm not fawning over this move and hailing Dennison as some offensive guru. It stands to reason that he will need someone helping coordinating the passing game based on a). his history with Denver as OC not calling plays or designing passing game strategy or route combos b). his background in the NFL as an OL coach c). his history with the Texans not being the main playcaller or offensive strategist He has basically never been in a position without Kubiak there with him. In his only time without Kubiak supervising him, the Broncos thought it necessary to give the playcalling duties and passing game strategy to the QB coach. He is a veteran, experienced coach but he is not a proven commodity.
  3. And I would be happy with that combination.
  4. I know it is old but it breaks down his duties as OC with the Broncos and his likely duties as OC with the Texans as Kubiak has always been the main playcaller wherever he has been HC/OC. It also reaffirms the idea that he is mostly involved in the run game in his career. Installing game plans and strategy is important and in that respect, I like the choice. I just want to know who is going to be coaching QBs here and developing them and who is going to spearhead the passing game strategy because his 1 year as QB coach with the Ravens under Kubiak(a QB coach himself) is not exactly inspiring to me.
  5. http://www.milehighreport.com/2008/9/22/619243/the-broncos-playcalling-ex Pretty interesting article mentioning Dennison. Basically reaffirms my concern that they'll need a passing game coordinator and someone to help with playcalling.
  6. I will be a bit skeptical on this move as I don't think he ever called of plays as an OC, although neither had Lynn and I thought he did a fine job. Also, I will be more excited about this hire if it's coupled with a young QB or WR coach who can groom for the OC position in the future(Dorsey? Lal?). My only concern really is that we still don't have anyone on staff that has a track record of developing QBs.
  7. Won't have to draft him at 10. He might last until 3rd round(depending on pro day/interview) He is seen by scouts as a good fit for a west coast based, timing offense.
  8. If we are hiring Childress, Brad Kaaya is the QB we will draft.
  9. I'm as pessimistic as they come, but the Bills are easily 2nd on that list of plausible options. Houston - they are stuck with Brock for at least another year barring they hit the lotto on a drafted QB. They can't take on another big QB contract. LA - they just picked a QB at 1st overall. They are committed to finding out about him for at least another year or two. NY Jets - questionable OL, older receivers, Forte is 31. Whats their offense? Whose is their OC? Buffalo - Sammy Watkins and McCoy. Charles Clay is good. Pretty good OL. Could potentially draft another target at 10. Denver - they are the clear favourite for Romo if he wants to go there and they want him.
  10. Brad Childress is a long time Reid assistant and a former HC. Last year, he was with the Chiefs as a special assistant. This year, he was named co-OC. He has the clout, the experience, and, likely, the desire for more than that. He's only 60. It is highly likely that he has been with Reid these last few years to groom Nagy for the OC position. I have a hard time believing that Reid would block him from a job that gives him more responsibility and status, provided Childress wants the job.
  11. Ravens employ a kicking consultant. He is credited with deploying Justin Tucker into best K in NFL.
  12. Sure blame the city. Elway wanted to fire McCoy the year that he took the Chargers job and it was reported that their relationship was strained at the end. McCoy and Musgrave worked together for one year in which McCoy was a first year QC assistant and Musgrave resigned as OC after 3 games. Don't mention the fact that the Bills have no answers at QB and a completely muddied situation there. We have a rookie HC and a GM that most of the league still views as a joke.
  13. Helps to have respected management.
  14. I wonder if they would think of naming Scott Turner(QB coach of Vikings the last 3 years/Norv's son) as the OC, with Norv Turner serving in a senior offensive assistant role. Scott's promotion wouldn't completely unfounded either as many people credit him with the selection and development of Teddy Bridgewater. He also coached with McDermott with Carolina 2011-12.
  15. Andy Reid usually lets his guys move up.
  16. They like running.
  17. Couple of thoughts on guys mentioned in here: Munchak - no OC exp. Has never called plays. We have our version of him in Castillo. Alex Van Pelt - got somewhat of raw deal here. GB probably blocks him though. Kromer - pretty sure he did not call plays in CHI. Again, Castillo is already here. Callahan - another run game coordinator. Did not call plays in DAL. We need someone with a passing game background, playcalling experience, and who has QB development experience. This actually could be one person or 3. It doesn't matter. But we need to check those boxes.
  18. Shanahan will get 49ers job
  19. At least QB coach. I agree.
  20. I like Musgrave. He spent a year with Chip Kelly in PHI also. I think he'll want to work with a settled QB situation though.
  21. James Urban, current WR coach for CIN
  22. Brad Childress
  23. I would think if they block his advancement, he would just bolt to here when his contract is up.
  24. Also, Run game coordinator tells me they might be looking at splitting up OC duties. He's a great coach who absolutely needed to be fired in Philly. It had completely spun out of control.
