Who the Bills will pick at 10
BrooklynBills replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down and try to pick up a 1st in next year's draft. The draft is deep at our need positions WR and DB. Don't get hooked on one player. Take best available after trade down. -
It doesn't matter if the guys that you've lost do not sign any where
-
We need to sign like 25 free agents to not get any comp picks. Getting comp picks is purely based on how many guys you sign versus how many guys that you have lost. Then they determine the value if your key guys that you've lost.
-
Not really, but keep it up.
-
We have so many FAs that I would be shocked if they didn't come out at a net loss in UFAs brought in versus UFAs lost. So I would hope for big deals for Gilmore, Woods, Brown, and Alexander.

Steve Christie Calling out Bills FO
BrooklynBills replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's how I read it also. I want Whaley fired yesterday, but I'm going to flame him for this. -
5'7 170 is much different than 5'9 195. Especially if that player is going to be asked to help alot in run defense.
-
If they go out and speak to FAs over the next few days and realize that guys like Foles or Glennon are going to cost roughly the same amount as Taylor, I think I would be in favor of keeping him. TRADE DOWN FROM 10 AND TRY TO GET A 1ST IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT DO NOT TAKE ONE OF THESE FLAWED QBs IN THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS. Load up on secondary and WR in this draft. Take a mid round developmental QB (KAAYA, DOBBS, WEBB, PETERMAN) in this draft. Plan to trade 3 1sts in next year's draft to take one of Rosen, Darnold, or Allen. Cut Taylor after 2 years.

He's listed 5'7 Munnerlynn is listed 5'9

Munnerlyn is 2 inches taller and at least 20 lbs heavier. When you are on the low end of height/weight spectrum in NFL, that amount makes a difference.

Chiefs WR coach = Bills QB coach

He is probably also designing our route combinations and passing game. -
Chiefs WR coach = Bills QB coach
BrooklynBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like a great veteran coach, but he's a career WR coach in the NFL and almost all of his college stints as well. We still don't have anyone on staff whose even worked with an NFL QB, let alone developed one. I don't see how this is a good thing. -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
BrooklynBills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
Yes. And overdrafting a QB in the top of the draft gets you Christian Ponder or Jake Locker or Blake Bortles or EJ Manuel or Blaine Gabbert or Mark Sanchez. The Bills problem in the draft has been partly them getting no production from their 1st round picks. Take a mid round QB a round early? Sure. Take a 2nd round QB in the top 10? No !@#$ing way. -
Mike McCoy Matt LaFleur John DeFilippo Hiring an offensive minded HC with a history of developing QBs like Kyle Shanahan. Those would be inspiring moves. Again, I will remain hopeful depending upon who the QB coach is and their pedigree. But right now, it's hard to get excited about Rick Dennison.

Where does it say that we are "doomed." All I said was that I am skeptical until I see where the passing game innovation is coming from. And if you do any research on him, you will find that this will be the 1st time that he will be the main guy. So I don't think that skepticism is unfounded in any way. I just think people suggesting that this is a coup of some sort on the offensive side of the ball need to pump the brakes.
-
It was not intended to be a representation of where he is as a coach right now. But that period is the only time that he was not with Kubiak. So I think it is relavant info. We are not in a position to hope this guy can groom a QB. Someone with a track record there would be reassuring. We have not brought in a single offensive coach with a background in the passing game. So the QB coach and WR coach will have alot of responsibility and now become extremely important hires.
-
Please enlighten me on why you think Dennison is a good hire. Secondly, people supporting his hire are pointing to those "outdated" years as support of his experience as an OC in the NFL. So what do you want to base the decision off of? Last year? The Broncos offense was terrible and he was likely getting fired. Please dispute the points that: a). he was ever the main playcaller in any position in the past b). he was ever involved in coordinating the passing game(you know, the thing we've sucked at for almost 15 years) Because the evidence shows that he is a great OL coach and a figurehead OC. From the outside, it looks like we have hired a run game coordinator(Castillo), the former OC of a terrible passing game(Boras), a RB coach from a team that couldn't run, and an OC whose strength is the running game. I am just asking: Why should I have confidence that we will be able to develop a passing game or a young QB with the coaches that have been brought in so far? But I guess I should just be a good little sheep and say "Go Bills! All is well!"
-
Jay Cutler - bridge QB. I could see it. But that could have easily been the offensive design as well.
-
Poking around in Dennison's background, I wonder if they will try to bring in Jeremy Bates as QB or WR coach. The guy has been out of the NFL since 2012 but was seen as a coaching prodigy back then. He was Pete Carroll's original choice as OC in SEA but fired for "philosophical coaching differences." He's been tutoring QBs since 2012. But the guy was basically seen as the Adam Gase or Sean McVay of 2008-2012.
-
Yes. His one year coaching an established QB with an OC who was a pretty prolific QB coach himself does not make me go "Ok, we are set with QB development and in the passing game." I'm not even saying that I don't like this hire. I'm just reserving praise until I see something that gives me confidence in the passing game. Sorry that I'm not fawning over this move and hailing Dennison as some offensive guru. It stands to reason that he will need someone helping coordinating the passing game based on a). his history with Denver as OC not calling plays or designing passing game strategy or route combos b). his background in the NFL as an OL coach c). his history with the Texans not being the main playcaller or offensive strategist He has basically never been in a position without Kubiak there with him. In his only time without Kubiak supervising him, the Broncos thought it necessary to give the playcalling duties and passing game strategy to the QB coach. He is a veteran, experienced coach but he is not a proven commodity.
-
And I would be happy with that combination.
-
I know it is old but it breaks down his duties as OC with the Broncos and his likely duties as OC with the Texans as Kubiak has always been the main playcaller wherever he has been HC/OC. It also reaffirms the idea that he is mostly involved in the run game in his career. Installing game plans and strategy is important and in that respect, I like the choice. I just want to know who is going to be coaching QBs here and developing them and who is going to spearhead the passing game strategy because his 1 year as QB coach with the Ravens under Kubiak(a QB coach himself) is not exactly inspiring to me.

http://www.milehighreport.com/2008/9/22/619243/the-broncos-playcalling-ex Pretty interesting article mentioning Dennison. Basically reaffirms my concern that they'll need a passing game coordinator and someone to help with playcalling.
