No Dennison: Rebound Candidates
BrooklynBills replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ryan Groy John Miller Zay Jones -
If they hire McCoy as OC and Mike Tice as OL coach, I will absolutely give him credit. It was very specific. I think a lot of people could have predicted Dennison getting fired.

True. I just think he'll have better options. Also, I think the Eagles would rather block him from a coordinator job and let him replace Reich than let him go to another team as their OC. -

Hes interviewing with ARI and another team i think for the HC position as the QB coach for the Eagles. Why is he going to risk his career momentum coming here with an unsettled QB situation. I just think his options are going to be better. -

They probably already know they cant get up for Darnold or Rosen and are doubtful Allen falls to 21. The price for us for Darnold will be too high and hes not a sure thing. Cousins plus 3 top 50 offensive players could work and if it doesnt, you get rid of Cousins in two years and try again. -

You arent getting a rising offensive coach like DeFilippo without a solid QB situation. -

The Bevell offense is have Russell Wilson scramble and pull plays out of nowhere and give the ball to peak Marshawn Lynch and have him run over people. He has interviewed with numerous teams for HC jobs and has been passed over many times which tells me something also. McCoy's SD offenses were regularly top 10 in yards and his work with the Broncos was very good. Not sure what happened in DEN this year except for Tony Romo deciding he didnt want to go there. -

No way. Dennison is an OL coach by trade and was an OC under only offensive minded coaches who called the plays. McCoy was an OC for only defensive HCs, meaning he was the lead man for the offense regarding strategy, gameplanning, game day playcalling, etc. He also has a background in QB development and the passing game. He is the type of hire who could attract other good offensive coaches to come here. McCoy would be a home run for McDermott IMO -
Predict the 2018 OC/Rookie QB combo
BrooklynBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen is an interesting case study because of his background. Alot of the modern collegiate scouting, especially at QB, is based heavily on attending QB development camps and the 7v7 camps. They act as a mini combine for the collegiate scouts(and its also how so many of these talented true freshman are able to step in and play immediately). Allen did attend or seek out these camps. He played 3 sports in high school when most kids trying to get a collegiate scholarship begin specializing as early as their freshman year of HS. He was only 6'3 180lbs when he graduated HS. He's truly a throwback type prospect and late bloomer. If he played in the PAC10 or BiG12 the production would be there with the other guys. Not a single other player on his team is an NFL prospect. -

He's never coached in the NFL though. Don't anyone is going to give him an offense without him at least working in the NFL in some capacity. -
Predict the 2018 OC/Rookie QB combo
BrooklynBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Canada strikes me as a guy who would need to get into the NFL as a positional coach before he would get an OC job. If we hired an OC who experience with QB development(a la McCoy, Bevell), I would like bringing him in to coach QBs. -

I agree I could get behind OC: Mike McCoy QB: Todd Downing OL: Mike Tice Alot of good offensive coaches about to be available. It would be wise to get involved in trying to grab some of the talent that will be out there. -
Kubiak would be great and should be the type of hire that McDermott should be looking for - a HC of Offense. Something like what Wade Phillips has been on defense for the few teams that have hired him, most recently the Rams. That said, I doubt he would come here to take his longtime offensive partner's job. I like the base system that Dennison wants to run here and people are paying attention they would see that the most successful, consistent offenses recently in the NFL utilize the Shananan zone/WC offense as their base: Sean McVay, Jay Gruden, Kyle Shanahan, Pat Shurmur, Doug Pederson, Sean Payton, Andy Reid - all zone blocking/WC based offenses. Our current offensive staff, including Dennison, is a very patchwork group of coaches. Dennison has never been the main playcaller, nor has he ever been the lead offensive voice at any stop he's had in the NFL(I actually thought his overall gameplanning and strategy was good this year; his in game playcalling was very suspect however). Castillo and Culley were both reportedly on the outs in BAL and KC, respectively, and each team had no problem letting either guy go. Culley has never been a QB coach before. Our WR coach has never been one at the NFL level. They all have a background in this offensive system at their various stops though. It is clear to me that McDermott has an idea of the offensive style that he wants to run. McCoy, Olson, and Childress(all guys that were reportedly higher on the candidate list for OC) all run this style of offense. And they all turned him down. I'm guessing because no one wanted to be saddled with our QB situation as its a recipe for exactly what we are talking about with Dennison now. All that being said, I doubt anyone worth anything is coming here without some semblance of a QB situation figured out. Which is why, unless they have come to some type of backchannel agreement with McCoy, I would imagine Dennison stays until they get a young QB to work with on the roster. The playbook is not the problem. The problems in order: QB Playcalling rhythm Overall talent

Bears kick off HC hiring with Chiefs OC Matt Nagy

Enough's enough - This team went 9-7......
BrooklynBills replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There IS a major difference between this team and the team of the last 3-4 years. This team went 9-7 and has multiple extra picks in upcoming drafts and is in better cap shape than the last three years. The Doug Whaley/Rex Ryan Bills went 9-7/8-8 and we're up against the cap and had wasted significant draft capital to get there. -
I'll bite: 1. Star Lotueili 2. Kenny Vaccaro 3. Trey Burton 4. Kyle Fuller 5. Derek Anderson

Many better options available. At no point with the Giants was Sullivan anything more than 3rd/4th voice in the offensive chain of command. And he completely flamed out in his prior shot at the job. We have a HC with a defensive background. I think he's filled out the defensive coaching staff with solid hires. But offense is a mixed bag. I like McGeoghan and Boras as position coaches. Juan Castillo - well respected, I just don't see the recent success. David Culley - well respected, never been a QB coach before. Rick Dennison - never called plays before and I think it has showed. I don't know if they need a complete overhaul. Bringing someone who is leader/more experienced could do wonders IMO. If they move on from Dennison, I still want them to continue with the Kubiak/Shanahan offensive system as their base offense, which I think they will do. My targets for OC in order: 1. Bill Musgrave 2. Mike McCoy 3. Jeremy Bates That said, with the expected release of Taylor, we will go into the offseason with just one QB on the roster: Peterman. Not sure guys are going to line up to come here, although I think a blank slate might be more enticing than having Taylor here.

Belichick sabotaging Pats future?
BrooklynBills replied to Gate To Wire's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So much illogical thinking in this thread - on both sides IMO Did Belichek think/entertain the idea of trading Brady and moving forward with Jimmy G? It would be totally against his MO and the history of other great QBs in the history of the NFL to think he didn't entertain the idea. Not that he "shopped" him to other teams, but that internally he had given some thought to the idea. Did he ultimately come to the conclusion on his own that he couldn't trade Brady? Probably. Despite the stigma that Belichek trades players early, Brady is in a category to himself with regards to players. Yes, that includes very good players that he moved on from early like Milloy, Seymour, Law, Mankins, Moss, Collins, Jones, et al. Not the same IMO Did Kraft probably let Belichek know that he can't trade Brady without specifically walking into to his office and say, "no?" Yes, I think so. One major factor that I think is not getting any discussion is the fact that Brady and Jimmy G share the same agent. How can he negotiate a bridge deal with NE for Jimmy G if he knows that Brady isn't going anywhere. Would not be fair to both his clients. How can Belichek trade Jimmy G off to CLE and their dysfunction and then expect a easy negotiation on a Brady extension? I think the most likely scenario is: -NE wants Jimmy G on a short term deal as insurance if Brady physically falls off a cliff. His agent says sure- for starter money. He can't in good faith negotiate an under market value contract for Jimmy G, a pending UFA, unless Jimmy G wants to. He's 26. Its now or never to get that great contract. -NE takes offers. Cleveland offers a 2nd +(which we now know) and that deal doesn't happen. Other teams make offers including SF. Does Belichek have too much respect for Jimmy G to send him to CLE? Maybe. Does he not trade him at the draft because he wants to see what a 40yr old Brady looks like? Much more likely IMO. We already know he doesn't really but into the Guerrero/TB12 health stuff. Not a stretch to think he is just waiting for Brady to fall off a cliff. -Season starts. Brady looks great. MVP season tier. Kraft says let's start on a Brady extension/restructure. Belichek, although he may not completely agree, goes "yes, let's do it." They go back to SF deal because he knows Shanahan, they are NFC, and wants Jimmy G to be successful to further the mystique of NE to help lure UFAs/influence signings/etc. No conspiracy. No masterplan. No ego fueds. Just logic.
