  1. Andrew Luck's contract details when traded for: 2018: 18 mil cap hit (14th highest cap hit for QBs) 2019: 21.125 mil cap hit (12th) 2020: 22 mil cap hit (6th) 2021: 21 mil cap hit (4th) Compared to what QBs are signing for, this is a pittance. And that does not include what Cousins or Keenum will sign for this offseason and in 2020 and 2021, he is one of only a handful of QBs still signed and his contract would rank last among those QBs. His contract is an absolute bargain especially when traded for. The 21 million in 2021 also gives the team a great number to work with when trying to extend him. He has been a total one man how in Indy has posted multiple 11-5 seasons and has reached the AFC championship game. Also, you can see how ****ty that team was once he could not play this year. I would trade ALOT to get him here absolutely. Why would Indy do it? On the surface it looks pretty foolish to trade him. Proven high end QB. Bringing in a new offensive coach/NE offense. The only way it makes sense to me is if there is some truth to the rumors that he is upset with ownership/management there(i.e. Jim Irsay), which is not a stretch AT ALL. He has been handled very poorly there. Secondly, the Colts are picking 3rd, which means that they could use the haul that they get from the Bills in picks/players(I'd imagine it would be something like Glenn/18 1st/18 2nd/19 1st/19 4th for Luck and 2 3rd day picks) to quickly rebuild their OL and have the ammo to get Josh Rosen in the draft. If you are the Colts, what gives you a better team long term - Luck plus the 3rd pick this year OR Rosen plus a haul of day 1 picks over the next 2 years? Objectively, it is not crazy.
  2. A sign and trade is not possible because the redskins will be on the hook for signing bonus and dead money created by it from the trade. Also, a deal of cousins size will need a signing bonus for cap purposes and to get guaranteed money up front similar to what smith just received in WASH and the other deals that QBs have signed recently. Somewhere in the 60-70 mil guaranteed at signing range. I guess DEN could fully guarantee the first 3 years of his deal but that would be insane. My guess is DEN and WASH agreed to a trade and allowed them to talk contract with Cousins. Good for DEN as it gives them exclusive dialogue with Cousins and the fact that they are willing to give something for Cousins might really impress Cousins enough to get him on a reasonable deal. I would think NYJ would want to get in on this too. Unless WASH is set on the player that DEN is giving up(rumored to be Talib).
  3. Vicious_Sid Nfl draft diamonds Not just bills related but neal stratton is great for anything coach/scout/management related

  5. Huge hire IMO. I think he was unfairly fired this past year after the Texans D tanked. He is responsible for the development of AJ Bouye into the player he is now. Was rumored for our DC job before it went to Frazier. There is definitely a McD connection here though I can't remember what their link is. Pretty sure we tried to get him here last year and Texans blocked it.
  6. Because the draft strategy that applied to their first year is most likely not going to be a hard and fast rule for the draft. I think they choose players that fit those categories because a. It was year one for him and they had needs at basically any position b. Our scouts for the whole year had only done work on seniors as was the policy under Doug Whaley/Nix. They didn't start scouting underclassmen until they declare so the majority of the work had been done on seniors. c. I think McD was looking for high floor players in his first draft to start to build a foundation of guys to build off of. With all the roster turnover that was happening/is still about to happen, I think McD thought it was/is important to get guys in that he can expect a certain amount of production from so that 2-3 years down the road, they have a baseline foundation that will allow them to take a riskier player(character/mental makeup wise) and they will have roster support in place if that pick fails. I think they will mostly take the same approach this draft with possibly a few outliers sprinkled in because of how many picks we have.
  7. Couple Twitter nobodies saying that it is Eric Wood back injury
  8. Benjamin career ender would put us in a bad spot. 8 mil guaranteed for injury. WR sucks in this draft except for slot guys. Optics of trading Watkins and then trading for Benjamin, even though injuries had little to do with why they traded Watkins
  9. If they add a more well rounded DE to replace Hughes, add a Lotulelie or Poe at DT, and draft a day 1 guy like Payne, I think they will get better production out of Lawson and that DL is ready to go.
  10. I think front 7 is definitely an area that they will invest money in. Injuries might give them pause on Ansah though he is a stud and is worth 13/yr if healthy again.
  11. he was terrible year one and good year two. he was not good last year at all, but i think that was due to him not being a good enough athlete to play the zone style that Dennison/Castillo were trying to install last year. Hes a bounce back candidate for sure
  12. Adding Darnold or Rosen would equal upgrading the position. Adding Mayfield or Allen at 21 upgrades the position, but they are not worth trading next year's 1st if those guys go top 10. I'd rather try another mid round guy than take Rudolph or Jackson
  13. Again, I don't see it as anointing Peterman the starter for 2018. I see it as they would be all in on Peterman as the guy they try to develop rather than these other 2018 draft eligible QB prospects if they cant get Darnold. No matter who they draft or don't draft at QB this year, our 2018 starting QB is not in this draft and not on the team. So if you don't get the guy that you want, stay the course and develop Peterman and see what you can do in next year's draft. All that said, if they love Darnold and he gets to 4, I think they'll make it happen.
  14. I think a worse decision would be to waste a 1st round pick on a lesser prospect like Rudolph or Jackson or Mayfield(gasp) and try to force that decision. That is actually what the Bills do ALL the time. If you cant get the guy you really like, dont force the pick.
  15. I don't see it that way. I think they like Darnold as a prospect much better than Peterman(probably have Rosen higher also). But if they cant get at either of those guys, they are going to work the draft and not get blinded by the other QBs. IMO the 2nd tier QBs arent anything special. All in on Peterman, to me, means that they are going to sign a bridge veteran like a McCown, Moore, or Drew Stanton and see if Peterman can beat him out in camp and give him the season. And then go from there.
  16. This actually makes sense to me. It's Darnold or Rosen or nothing in this draft IMO. They are absolutely going to sign/trade for a veteran starter/bridge QB regardless of what they do in the draft. They like obviously like Peterman. As for your source, I don't know, but I do know that some people have inside info.
  17. I don't think he is terrible, but I'm not a big fan either.
  18. Alot of question marks for several teams at QB and there is sure to be a TON of movement. BUF - Matt Moore; Sam Darnold(we will trade both 1sts and next year's 1st) NYJ - Kirk Cousins(Bates connection with Shanahan) CLE - Josh Rosen JAX - Alex Smith DEN - Nick Foles; Josh Allen NYG - Eli; Davis Webb WAS - Case Keenum MIN - Teddy; Bradford ARI - Tyrod; McCown; Mayfield How do you think it shakes out?
  19. The rumor was that the Chiefs were not going to retain Culley when they made the change to Nagy(and in fact a few long time Reid guys were not retained last year). I doubt that he is going to go with him to the Bears with Herzlich now the OC. Just doesn't seem like a fit. I could see both Castillo and Culley winding up on Pat Shurmur's staff in NY. They both have obvious ties to him.
  20. Dorsey is also familiar with the E-P scheme as Mike Shula is an E-P disciple. I think you will see a little turnover with our predominant WCO coaches: Culley, McGeoghan, Castillo
  21. I think they will let Culley move on somewhere else.
  22. Great offensive coach bias. Basically, because Andy Reid traded up to get him, he must be great. It's exactly what happened after the draft. Analysts who had him pegged as a 2nd/3rd round guy were praising the pick after it happened basically because of Reid.
  23. Odds are against Mayfield and Rudolph becoming good NFL QBs and it has nothing to do with size or attitude. I just do not trust offensive players coming out of that conference unless they are physical freaks and absolutely dominate. Wouldn't trust OT Williams or Brown either. Zero defense is played in the Big 12.
