Bills fire OL Coach Juan Castillo
BrooklynBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would be great. Bengals OL coach Frank Pollack is another guy I'd like. Coached those great Cowboys OLs of the past few years -
Greg Little is more likely the type of player we'll be targeting IMO

Crossman and Castillo? Who stays and who goes?
BrooklynBills replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Special teams: Get Darren Rizzi out of Miami. He is a great coach. The Jets ST coach also got great results this year. OL: Keeping Castillo is an option. Kugler has done a good job in Denver this year although just coaching inside, has local ties and coached here before, won a SB in Pitt. He had a hand in developing Ryan Clady at Boise State and Jason Peters in Buffalo. He is not the full OL coach so they could move quick and offer him the full job here before Denver hires a HC -
Browns: HC Hue Jackson fired
BrooklynBills replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think he'll get an OC job next year. The two teams that I think would be interested (CINN, BALT) won't be looking to make a change. Maybe Arizona makes sense. I'd be making a serious run at him as QB coach though. -
Call your shot. Who goes today?
BrooklynBills replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can be happy they kept the team here and still criticize them for their complete ineptitude in running the two teams so far. -
QBs available this coming offseason: Derek Carr(trade) CJ Beathard(trade) Fitz Nick Foles Jacoby Brissett(trade) Case Keenum If Allen needs the surgery, I don't think they can go into year 3 trusting a rookie QB to lead a revamped offense, unless they get the 1st pick and take Justin Herbert, which I don't think that would hesitate doing. So barring getting the 1st overall pick, you are probably looking at Carr, Foles, or Keenum.

Can't just think throwing some money and high draft picks around next year is solely going to be enough. Philly went out and hired Reich and DeFillipo the year that they drafted Wentz to help develop him, giving them 3 experienced QB coaches (including Pederson) working with Wentz his first two years. LA Rams hired McVay, but also Matt LaFleur and Greg Olson as OC and QB coach, two guys with a proven track record getting results out of QBs. (Sensing a theme here!) Chicago hired Nagy(QB coach) and Mark Helfrich(former Oregon OC/QB coach/HC) So far we have a former TEs coach as the OC who has zero track record of developing QBs and a lifelong WR coach (who was getting fired in KC BTW) as our QB coach who has no track record of developing QBs. Coaching matters and our offensive staff has no one here with a track record of even WORKING WITH QBs, let alone developing one.

SI - Josh Allen, Thrown to the Wolves
BrooklynBills replied to TheElectricCompany's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Skill position players for Carson Wentz his rookie year: RB: Darren Sproles, Ryan Matthew, Wendell Smallwood, Byron Marshall WR/TE: Zach Ertz, Trey Burton (had not produced anything yet), Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor(disappointing up to this point), Dorial Green Bekham, Bryce Treggs, Josh Huff, Aaron Grymes OL: better than ours If Allen is good, he'll show it this year regardless of who he's playing with. -
The cap situation McBeane inhereted
BrooklynBills replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sashi did The Purge bro. Then they fired him for doing it. Also, they had something like 75% roster turnover this year so I'm not sure where you are getting the no purge from Explaining cap rollover to 90% of this board is a waste of time -
In a vacuum, yes- I think i'd take Dareus and Glenn over all those players FOR ONE YEAR. But Dareus and Glenn were not 1 year commitments like all the guys you have mentioned (except for Star). It is all about clearing out as much money as possible for 2019 because that is the first year where massive gaurantees to could be alleviated. 2018 always carried with it a huge salary cap number based on the contracts that were signed prior to McBeane coming aboard whether there was dead cap with players cut/traded or whether those players were still here. 2019 was always the target year to get the Bills cap situation set in order to grow cap space moving forward. You gotta roll over that unused cap space year to year in order to build up your team. Look at what Jacksonville has done dating back to 2013. By not spending to the cap every year, they were able to increase their team's individual cap number every year and from 2013-2017 they averaged 27.8 million of adjusted salary cap per year. This allowed them to sign at least one impact player in free agency since 2015 while still creating enough cap space to rollover and grow their cap every year. Their entire defense is built through 1 great draft and several major FA signings over the past few years: Malik Jackson in 2016 and Barry Church, Calias Campbell, Tashuan Gipson, and AJ Bouye in 2017. Not to mention be able to sign the FA OL in 2018 in Norwell. This is the new team building tool that rebuilding teams are going to be using when doing a major rebuild.

This says it all...wide the hell open
BrooklynBills replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They know where he's going with the ball because they know that he is going to stare be down his first read and go there 90% of the time. Weddle turns his back to 3 recievers being covered by 2 guys because he knows NP is going to the other side of the field. -
Bodine - basically a 1 yr deal Murphy - basically a two year deal but they can get out easy after this year if they want Davis - 1 year deal Gaines - 1 year deal Newhouse - 1 year deal Kerley - 1 year deal Don't see how they are worth complaining about. I have problems with some of what these guys have done but so far cap management is not one of them. The plan is pretty clear IMO. They went scorched Earth with cap and used attitude and not buying in as an excuse. The are going to use the cap rollover loophole to build perpetual cap space moving forward just like the jags have recently done to build most of my their defense and OL. It is what the 49ers are currently doing.

Guys I like by position: QB Luke Falk QB Mike White RB Mark Walton RB Kalen Ballage RB Bo Scarbrough FB Dimitri Flowers WR Deon Cain WR Keke Coutee TE Ian Thomas TE Dalton Schultz OT Will Richardson DT Maurice Hurst DT Tim Settle CB Anthony Averett Hurst is falling because of health maybe but also because he really only fits one certain style of defense where the DTs are asked to just get upfield every play. I would love to somehow come away with CB Averett, TE Thomas, and RBs Walton and Flowers.

Trade Rumors? (only Rumors)

Check out @NFLDraftBites’s Tweet: I Who is Chad Forbes? -
After everything that has come out this off-season from the Browns, bills, and Giants, based on what teams have said and their needs, I think it makes most sense for Bills: get pick #2 Giants: get pick #4 and mid round picks Browns: take QB at 1, get picks 12 and 22 More picks would be involved to even up value, but I think these are the proper draft positions for the teams to get the most value out of their draft picks. The bills get their QB. The Giants get more picks for depth and can take the best non-QB at 4 The browns get QB at 1 and get their starting CB and starting OT all one draft in the first round. I'd be surprised if this has not been discussed by the three teams.

They have huge needs at T and CB. Losing Butler hurts their D and losing Solder is big. I think they are ok at WR. Edelman is coming back and they added Kenny Britt, who I think will be good for them. That pick also allows them to nab one the falling QB prospects and still get 3 or 4 starters from their draft Targets: CB Oliver CB Alexander CB Hughes OT MIller TE Hurst TE Goedert WR Miller WR KIrk WR Washington QB Rudolph QB Lauletta QB Jackson
