A QB has to throw the ball when the guy is ABOUT to get open, not after he is open, that's often too late. He has to be able to anticipate that, and know his receiver well enough to trust him to break away.
-
Exactly. He doesn't have the balls to throw it unless the guy is wide open. He is afraid (or can't) to throw the ball into the small window that is considered an open receiver in the NFL. This isn't college, everything is not only faster, the margin-of-error is much smaller too. I don't think he will do it, or he would have done it by now. I think it goes against his instincts as a player. This is almost a defining characteristic of the "Backup QB". They are safe, know the playbook guys, that can't make anything happen. Edwards is more Kelly Holcomb than Jim Kelly. I hope I'm wrong.....

Bye Bye Schoebel and Kelsay

Wrong, he is a PAST rusher, he runs right past the QB. -
I would bet they will drop the No-Huddle by week 5.

Holy crap were they as bad as the box-score looks

Have the Patriots with Brady ever EMBARASSED themselves like this in the preseason. I couldn't picture that happening. Even if the starters came out, they would berate the 2nd teamers to play for their lives, and regain some kind of diginity for the jersey. I believe they were trying hard, they just suck. I don't think their athleticism is so far behind the Packers (or most other teams), but they aren't prepared. Coaching. -

Official game day thread - Bills vs. Packers

These guys are gonna suck again. I don't care about "TO" or any first round pick, the coaching, or the QB. They just aren't very good. -
Maybin at LB would be awesome !
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Speedy G's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He looks like Cornelius Bennett to me, not Bruce Smith. I can't see him being very effective at DE, he is just too skinny. If he bulks up he will lose speed. He will likely only come in for passing downs... -
Aaron Maybin's first step is unreal!!
Geno Smith's Arm replied to DELLAPELLE JOHN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He sure looks more like a linebacker than a D-lineman. He reminds me of C.Bennett (he had a great first step too), a lot more than of Bruce Smith. I hope he can contribute right away like CB did, but I have the feeling he will disappoint for the first 2 seasons while he learns how to be a pro. He is real young.... -
Why are people protesting Mike Vick?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Major Mud's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Vick has the psychological profile of a psychopath. He will get into more trouble. He can't help it. I agree he should be able to play again, I just expect him to f***up again at some point. Ron Mexico has had a few "second chances" already. Tony Dungy should be spending his time helping people that deserve it, not some sociopath jock. Really, what is supposed to come of this. Vick is supposed to become some inspirational example to youth? Get real. Donte Stallworth was an idiot, but the if you know about the case, the victim was jaywalking and ran in front of Stallworth's car. He wasn't speeding, or driving erratically. Big mistake, bad idea, and tragic consequences. Could happen to many people ( maybe even some people on this board), but it wasn't premeditated. I am not condoning his behavior, but I don't expect to hear about Stallworth being in trouble again. These cases have NOTHING to do with each other. Where are people supposed to protest Stallworth anyway? At his house? at the Browns headquarters? At NFL headquarters? He isn't playing this year, and I hear the Browns will release him. M.A.D.D will probably seize the stage if he does come out. -
I predict Vick will get into trouble again, maybe not this year, maybe not during his career (he won't be very effective anyway, he ain't leading any team to the Super Bowl), but it will happen. He is a sociopath and can't help it, he's got to ^%$#up I bet Donte Stallworth won't ever be arrested again.

Your favorite QB from a team other than the Bills
Geno Smith's Arm replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Favorite: Tom Brady- He is the best ever. Not a jackass off the field. Everyone on this board would love for him to have been the Bills QB (FACT). I'm not a troll, it's just lame that no one wants to acknowledge him as a great player out of petty spite. Least: Tony Romo- Overrated. Jackass off the field. Wears his hat backwards (Mike Vick would be the least, but he isn't an NFL QB) Overrated. Jackass off the field. He is everything that Tom Brady isn't. -
It's no fun for me to knock one of my favorite Bills, but I think the main point is that Tasker made some nice plays as a receiver playing against the first team guys, but wasn't exceptional. He likely devoted his practice time to Special teams skills, his film work etc. Now picture Jerry Rice, Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith, Rod Woodson or Barry Sanders devoting their careers to Special Teams work. I believe they would surpass Tasker. Of course that wouldn't happen, because any coach could see that these guys had to be on the field as starters, something that never happened for Tasker, FOR A REASON. Aside from all this, the Bills lost those Super Bowls and still have 3 guys in, Andre is more deserving (not just because of the numbers, it was the way he got the numbers. Over the middle, crossing patterns, tough yards and catches. He was way better all around than Cris Carter.), and it is just unlikely. Next up: Darryl Talley

Steve Tasker was awesome, but no hall of famer. Someone needs to say it. As great as he was, he was mostly on the field against other special teamers. Love Steve, but not a HOFer.
-
That's fine with me. If it's only money he needs to play hard, sign him to an incentive laden contract. I was worried he just sucked!

Dick Jauron's Post-Practice Video
Geno Smith's Arm replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noticed that he is shaking his head as he answers the question with affirmations. I looked this body language up, and found this: "Shaking the head when saying something positive is a negative signal and may indicate the person does not believe what they are saying". He probably does this all the time.... -
No. He's a sociopath (that's bad), and not a very smart sociopath at that. He can't help himself, and no doubt there are more troubles in his future. This "give him a second chance" stuff is just a smokescreen. Anyone can see he has had many chances. Picture Vick and Marshawn hanging together on a Friday night. If you just wanna talk football, he isn't a very good QB, and this "Wildcat Offense" will soon lose it's effectiveness. I don't think he should be banned, in fact I hope the dolphins pick him up.

Top 10 sports anti-hero list
Geno Smith's Arm replied to busterramsey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not certain about this, but Mogilny was a very young guy who was pretty much alone after defecting, and there were rumours about death threats, exthortion, and a whole bunch of shady stuff involving the Russian mafia going on while he was in Buffalo. I think this would produce some odd behavior from anyone (even you), let alone some teenage kid. He had a pretty good career too. There have to be some other more deserving anti-heroes. -

Football 101: "Err on the side of aggression". It's an intrinsictly aggressive sport. Dick Juaron will never win a Super Bowl as a HC. -

Belichek wouldn't let either of those clowns be his quarterback (though maybe he could have gotten a lot more out of them, who knows). He knows what attributes a QB needs to accomplish what they want on offense. Tall QB's first off. I was really hoping the Bills would pick the Pats backup QB O'Connell from San Diego State, I had heard interviews with him, and knew he had some of the measurables Belichek likes. Low and behold, the Pats pick him LATE in the draft.
