How can you say the coaching cost them the game, and then say that if McKelvin hadn't fumbled the Bills would have won??? The Bills coaches did a real good job (and I can't stand Jauron). The Bills were playing a team that is better than them in almost every facet of the game, yet they should have won, except gaffes by players put the Pats in position to win the game. The Bills defensive plan was perfect. It worked, they even stopped the Pats on that touchdown drive, only to have the worst spot I have ever seen give the Pats a first down. The overcame that though. They had the game in hand, then the fumble (not a coaching error, even if Mckelvin was instructed to bring the ball out, were they supposed to tell him "and don't fumble"?). Bend dont break worked great, lots of very short passes. The Bills shut down the run. Yes the defense was tired, but they still should have won on the road against a better team. -

There have been many GREAT coaches that have just stood there calmly. Phil Jackson, Tom Landry are two that immediately come to mind, and those are all time greats. Belichick doesn't get real wound up. Sometimes when everything is crazy it helps to see a calm coach. I know someone is gonna say "this is football, and it's an emotional game" or "times have changed" but it doesn't really matter. That's not the problem. Fans want to see the coach yell and humiliate the players because they(the fans) can't themselves. It's silly to think that that's gonna fix this team. Childish. A first-rate coach (a yell and scream guy, or a quiet coach, it matters not) is really what this team needs. -
Dick Jauron is the craftiest fox. The whole pre-season was a ruse! Coach of the Year!

How can you NOT use the college a player went to to help evaluate a player? The main reason is the competition the player is going against. The Big 10 isn't all that hot anymore. There is a reason why Penn St. linebackers aren't becoming stars in the NFL (speed). Poz is pretty good. Im happy with him and don't consider him a guy that must be replaced. Ellison....

"Go Bills! You guys can do no wrong, I would never criticize you guys! You can lose forever, but I won't care. I know the players take pride in playing for Buffalo, it really shows. They do it for us fans. It bring tears to my eyes when they play "Shout" for the millionth time (please never change it). Yea Bills" I love Bills football, am not a fair weather fan, my comment is based on the prior history of the Bills/Pats games during Seymour's career. Maybe if they can handle Miami and the Jets, then I will start to think they have a chance against the Pats. That hasn't happened. Most seasons I am optimistic, at least expecting progress. Instead, this year they are just a mess.

I think it would be more like "get sh** rubbed in his face twice a season, and laughed at by his former teammates for the rest of his career". Not much satisfaction in getting beat up by his old team. He wouldn't want to play in Buffalo any more than in Oakland

Bell should holdout for more money

You're too reasonable! Really, what I think the Bills should do, in order to avoid a situation similar to the Peters fiasco, is add some incentives to his contract (based on number of starts, blahblahblah). That wouldn't send the wrong message to the players, and would still reward Bell for the great strides that the whole organization is telling the fans/media that he has made, and might be on par with the responsibilities they are asking him to assume. -

Thank you. I'm not that type of person, but I am trying to imagine what Ralph Wilson would do if he were a player in Bell's situation. I bet he would go for the kill. Absolutely! Wilson would think "I come from a relatively poor background, I have been F&$%ed over by a world famous, supersar athlete father. i have to get what I can NOW! This could set me and my family up for the rest of my life, and what if I get injured before my big payday? I'll be a sympathetic figure for awhile, then a human interest story on the local news ten years from now. What ever happened to that guy that was briefly paralyzed?" They should add on some incentives to his current contract, and build up some good will. Maybe they can avoid another Peters type mess. -
There is something so strange about this board
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Tcali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think have drafted well the last 2, and haved raised the overall talent level, but the Front Office and coaching staff are a mess, and they still need a QB. They are still mediocre, and will be for at least a season or 2. -

Yes, it's me. Man, I have so much to tell you fans. You wouldn't believe what the Bills Organization is really like. My fellow players have told me what it's like around the league, and I have heard about the Raiders, but I can't imagine a bigger bunch of clowns anywhere else in the league. No one respects the coach, Jim Kelly won't go away ( he was great, but c'mon bro, become a coach or move on with your life), Ralph Wilson is like Mr. Burns. Man, I'm saving the rest for my book... But just to let you know, I'm okay now. The Eagles people really know whats up, I guess it's probably what the Bills Organization used to be like. back in the 90's. See you in the playoffs, err... I mean good luck in the draft! Jason P.Dawg -

I didn't say pay him Pro-Bowler money. Maybe they can bypass a Peters-like situation by paying Bell like an starting LT no? Maybe build up some good will? Maybe go about things differently to show the players that you learned something from the "Peters Situation"? Or maybe go about things differently because you learned from past mistakes? Nah, they know what they are doing.... -

Dear Tool, He is making way more than he spends, and takes advantage of a widespread inferiority complex that permeates WNY (I don't mean you of course) to squeeze every drop out of the area. Yes, it is his right, and WNY lets him do it, but I would never blame a player for trying to do the same to R. Wilson. There is no good reason, given the support that WNY has given the team, that the Bills should have performed as badly (with no end in sight, and actually getting worse) as they have the last 10 years. He won't spend the money needed to get good front office people, good coaches, and to keep top players. You haven't noticed this? -

I can't tell what you mean by this. Are you commending the GM for quietly assembling some kind of "ethical" team that will someday do great things? Please. I doubt that Bell would holdout, but I would not blame him. He should be given a raise if they are asking him to play what may be the most difficult position (aside from QB) in football. My real point is that the Front Office is running this team like a Bells Supermarket (remember those?). Badly, and if a guy is being given major responsibilities, he should be paid at least market value , and not treated like he is still chasing carts on the practice squad. Only a bad organization operates like that. One like the Bills.... -

No, good analogy. They give you a pay raise BEFORE you start the new job. This is a new job for him. I understand the way the NFL works, youare drafted and paid on POTENTIAL. That is why draft picks get paid BEFORE they "punch the clock". I am not saying it is "right", but the NFL is a cold business (as R. Seymour found out), and Bell is definitely in a strong position (maybe stronger than Peters). I say twist Wilson's nuts! RW has been twisting Erie County's/ Bill's fan's, for years. -

If you were hired as a cart chaser at the local TOPS for minimum wage, worked a couple months, and then they told you it was time to become Store Manager, wouldn't you expect a raise? In fact that is the way the Bills are running this team. AVP was a cashier, now he is District Manager! -
Why are you so pissed. If you wanna get pissed, get pissed at the owners. I couldn't care less about Crabtree (he probably wants to get traded to a good team), but Seymour is getting shafted, and should be able to do whatever he likes. Why should he play for a team he doesn't want to go to? If he decides he has enough money for a season or so, why shouldn't he just force the Raiders hand? It is his only card. No, I don't worry that more rookies will holdout (and screw the Bills), because most will see clearly that taking the offer from the team that drafted them is in their best interest. But a player like Seymour, a guy that has already made a few million, can do his best to avoid the Purgatory of wasting his days (and his body) playing for the Raiders. I hope he suceeds.
-
Bell is in the perfect position to leverage a nice big contract. After seeing the way the Patriots treated Seymour, it should be clear to him that you have to get everything you can, when you can. He is probably the lowest paid starting LT in the league. Yes, I'm serious, this guy deserves a raise.

They smile in your face...

I have been thinking that as well. We all have seen how inept Jauron is, if you were a first time OC and your inept boss kept changing your offense and it sucked, what would you do? From the way I have have seen it told, it seems like he was open about his feelings for Jauron's changes as opposed to being a "backstabber". Maybe this is a front stabber? I'm not really sure any of the fans can judge what really happened, but I know this. Turk may or may not have been out of line, but without a doubt Jauron is not a good coach. -
There are plenty of plays in most games where the Bills QB has had plenty of time to throw the ball downfield and has failed. Yes, the line has sucked, but the QB's haven't been any better. As the post above noted, none of them went to other teams and showed any real imrovement. I believe it's a QB thing. When Kelly first came to the Bills the line was considered weak, and the previous QB were about what we have had here for the last 10 years. Get someone good in here and the line will look much better. I think knowing that you have a good QB with some leadership will bring out the best in players. Most players (or people in general) no matter how much you pay them, perform much better when they believe they have A CHANCE to succeed. The Bills suck at QB and they know it. Firing an OC isn't gonna change that.

Ralph held a coaches meeting at his house
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that I don't think it's a problem, but I bet you could say that about a majority of the owners in the league. Especially the older, long-time owners that have collected a bunch of employees over the years (lots of vice-presidents or assistant of this or that). Like many corporations, eventually they are all just trying to keep staus-quo. I like SOME of the things Ralph has done, but I think new ownership (at least good new ownership) would breathe some fresh air into the organization (I know thats not news to most people). -
Well at least for now, Belichick won't have much film to figure out what the Bills are doing, BECAUSE EVEN THE BILLS DONT KNOW. Picture the quotes "Well the Bills are a tough team to prepare for because you never know what they are gonna do, it's uncanny" That should keep the opposing teams confused for a while...

"Other Surprises in the Offing"?

Great? If he was that great at moving the chains etc, the Bills offense wouldn't have sucked. He is alright.
