I just realized, after hearing about how Peyton Manning is working with backup/new receivers, how the Bills WR's are missing out on the education that a really good QB imparts to his receivers. I believe that Lee Evans would just tear it up were he to go to the Colts. But all the WR's here have, is some guy trying to learn the playbook, that can't execute the plays in the playbook anyway. Yes, I know there are coaches to help them, but it's not the same as having the guy that enacts the play communicating the nuances of the plays from the QB's perspective. I don't care what people say about the O-line or defense. We need a good QB soon, and it will take some time for him to get good anyway. Let him sit a year (or two) and build the line during those years. They already have 2 decent rookies.

Unsubstantaiated Rumor about Trent Edwards
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he just sucks. Maybe he can't get any better. I think people have overrated his potenetial. He NEVER really lit it up. We had been watching Losman, so in comparision Edwards looked "promising". Yes, if he had continued to get better he might have been good. But he didn't. Lots of QB's don't. They end up as backups, guys that know the playbook really well. Holcolmb. Yep, he is Holcomb over again. -
He might be the best of the younger guys that will take the job. Marty is too old, Shanahan too old, Jim Fossil...., even Mike Holmgren is TO. I would much rather have Billick than the guy that will probably get it. Jim Haslett

JP Losman and the Loco's vs Sentinels 9pm EST, Tonight

Then maybe Bollinger can start for the Tampa Bay Bucs or Oakland Raiders and win 5 games in a season. Do you really think he will lead an NFL team to the playoffs? -
Shanahan/Cowher talk is all a mirage IMO
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Driftwood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are right. I just know that Jim Haslett is going to end up the coach. He's awful, but the old geezers that remember him as a Bill (I am one) will pump their fists, and talk about how "fiery" and "passionate" he is. And of course, Haslett will talk about the tradition, the great passionate fans, blahblahblah. I know it's coming. He is a schmuck. Not a good head coach. I won't watch a game with him as the head coach. -
If Bobby April is so great

Okay, thanks man. I'll write that down! -
If Bobby April is so great

I guess I should have asked the question "If Bobby April is so great, why hasn't he been offered a job as a position coach?" or "If Bobby April is so great, why hasn't he been offered a head coaching position" Of course if I had, there would have been lots of these , and suggestions that it would be more likely that he would be promoted to one of the coordinator positions, because a position coach would be a demotion, and a head coaching spot would be considered to be a big jump. So I took the "easy way out" and chose "Coordinator position". I also know that lots of coaches start out working in some capacity, with the Special Teams, then progress to the Defensive side of the coaching tree. SteelyDan did the work for me (thanks, I had to go to work, so I just suggested that the poster look into the history of NFL coaching careers). Anyway, I hope he stays, but if not maybe he can turn the Cleveland Browns, or Tampa Bay Bucs, or Oakland Raiders special teams into one of the leagues finest! -

I don't know. Why don't you look at the career history of Coordinators in the NFL. THere are plenty started with the special teams then moved up the ladder. -

I think Special Team "Coordinator" is considered the bottom of the "coordinating" positions, and most have aspirations to move up (maybe he doesn't, that's fine). I think I have made it clear that my point is, he isn't qualified to be a head coach, and retaining him shouldn't be a major priority if it interferes with a new hiring. Got it? Maybe you need one of these... -
So many of the "big name" are OLD. I don't think that is the way to go (at least not for a coach. GM? Maybe). I also don't like Gruden. Why? I think he is a d**k., that's why!

If Bobby April is so great

I find that hard to believe (and these really aren't necessary, you're not that clever) Anyway, I should have addressed this to to people that wanted him as the interim head coach (or permanent head coach), as well as the people that seem worried about losing him as the ST coach because a new guy might want someone else. That's absurd to me. "Nah, we don't want Mike Shanahan if he will get rid of Bobby April" or some such nonsense. -
How come he hasn't gotten a coordinators job? I like the special teams, but people seem to worry about retaining him after they hire a new head coach. If the new guy wants someone else, let it happen!

Pro Bowl...No Jairus Byrd???
Geno Smith's Arm replied to BillsInMaine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course I dig Byrd, but just because a guy has a lot of interceptions, doesn't mean he is the best player. -
McCargo and others moving forward for new staff
Geno Smith's Arm replied to zazie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is probably hoping to sign with the Titans in the off-season. Maybe he knows some guys on that team, or has the same agent or something. -
Good year to draft a QB near the top anyway
Geno Smith's Arm replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are ALL crapshoots. Mike Williams, Erik Flowers. Also, it will take a few years for a lineman to develop, just like a QB. In fact, we don't really know what we have yet with the 3 linemen (one defensive, two offensive) we drafted LAST YEAR (couldn't we call last years draft the start of rebuilding, and call this next draft the QB draft?). If there is a worthy QB, it would be foolish to pass on him. I just don't know if there is one worthy ths year. -
Really? What point is that?

VJ91, where you at? Have you turned yourself in to the police for past cell phone transgressions? Or are you trying to think of some way to convince the readers that idiotic cell phone transgressions that result in death, are somehow less of a crime than idiotic drunk driving transgressions that result in death? Maybe you're berating your grandma, wife, daughter, and neighbor for getting behind the wheel of "a loaded gun" and risking the lives of their passengers and other drivers with their silly cell phone conversations? (I'm sure they are saying "well EVERYONE does it"). At this point, Cell Phone Drivers are at least as much of a menace as Drunk Drivers, if only because they are so common. And I bet you (and many of the other "stone casters" on this board) can be counted among them.

Yeah, it does. http://www.livescience.com/technology/0502...ell_danger.html Read up Johnny! (I assume from your answer that you do indeed use your cell phone while you drive)

I was thinking that there wasn't any QB right now that really reminded me of Kelly. Then you mention Palmer. I agree. Rivers is way too spoiled brattish as far as personality, and not near as good (please don't pull out stats, Kelly has way more clutch wins) "Big Ben" is too quiet and not as flashy as Kelly (but the thing about him being more mobile than a young Jim Kelly, no way. Kelly was a roll out, Run & Shoot QB early on, it wasn't til later that he had the slow feet, because he was wearing knee braces, etc)

How many people here use their cell phones while driving?
