  1. No. I'm not talking about injury! Are you being disingenuous? I'm talking replacing the main man, the head honcho. Jim Kelly fer instance. Or John Elway, Dan Marino, even Bernie Kosar! I'm talking about teams that are perrenial playoff teams under a particular guy, not doing so well for a while, until they are lucky enough to get another quality Qb. As opposed to the same kinda teams suddenly pooping the bed, unable to compete for any prizes when their almighty LT leaves/retires. Get it? It's a popular discussion around here, this LT/QB conflict, 'specially round draft time,
  2. I think it is. And one I haven't seen raised here before. Obviously, the prospect has to be worthy. I also don't think they should putz around with the Qb's that don't grade out as first round talents (please, spare me the Tom Brady/ Joe Montana bit, I know about them). If Clausen is there, bad press aside, they should take him. The season is pointless without a qb at least in development.
  3. but continue their success even after a losing a left tackle?
  4. That's because if you don't have a guy that is one of the top say, 15 qb's (maybe even higher) you are nowhere. Some want to sit with what we have, and develop the rest of the team, then get a Qb, the others want to take a shot on a top talent RIGHT NOW. To me, considering the current options, I say use the first pick (the Bills have only done that TWICE. One turned out (Kelly), the other, well..... there were 3 good pro QB's chosen, and we got the 4th.
  5. There have been plenty of guys that were complete pricks that have been successful Qb's (I recall everyone's favorite "Jimbo" having that reputation. Dan Marino and John Elway come to mind as well. It's gonna take someone with a massive ego to withstand the next few seasons.....
  6. This seems to be the obvious approach. I just wanna know who is going where, I don't need to watch the guys talk about it and show some footage. Playoff hockey vs. talking heads?
  7. I think I have read that Bradford was working on these things during the school year. He is going to be a better NFL qb than Tebow. Anyhoo, I would rather have a guy whose whole being, his whole identity is based on playing Qb (like Jim Kelly) than a part time missionary. A pathetic shell of a human, that feels absolutely worthless if he loses a game. A guy who, after he retires will continue to hang around the franchise because his whole life has been based on football. This is the kind of guy I want to lead the Bills. Like an aged rock star who burned so brightly in his prime, that the remainder of his life is merely a long look back, regardless of future successes (Mick Jagger). These are the myth-embodying jocks that will win some games (Brett Favre). I mean it.
  8. I think Gailey means a different "waterbug", a new waterbug. Hopefully one that can think and chew gum at the same time.
  9. This ain't no "knee-jerkreaction", I've been jerked around plenty by this "organization". Sure, Tebow 'might " turn out (then again, any team taking him in the first 3 rounds might be considered a punchline in 2 years), but there have to be other, smarter ways to go about building a team than taking that kind of risk.
  10. Jim Kelly should move back to Pennsylvania, and stop meddling with the Bills! He is like the old high school star still going to every high school game 20 years later.
  11. I wanna trade up to the first pick overall to get Tebow! We can't risk someone else picking him. I also wanna bring in a bunch of undrafted Qb's, because we might find a real gem. Other than that, defense, defense, defense. You know, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! I've always wished we could be just like those Ravens and Bucs teams. Thrill a minute! Plus a kicker. I think we should have 2 kickers, one for up close, and another one for long distances and kickoffs, I figure we are gonna need that because, well, you know, the offense, well you've seen it, it's....well, one of the worst that I've ever seen.
  12. Why? How much could you really know about Buddy Nix and his abilities? Sure I have read a few things, but I don't KNOW what decisions in say, San Diego were HIS decisions etc. Fans know nothing but hearsay about these front office guys and even coaches. The only real evaluations that a fan can make is of players and what they do on the field. You don't KNOW anything about Buddy Nix's abilities. If they spend the 2nd pick on Tebow when they could have gotten McNabb for it (not sure they can) I'm DONE.
  13. Fine, you don't want McNabb (he isn't coming here anyway), that's reasonable. But don't tell me that the offense is gonna be good with any of the current Qb's. It's not the scheme (bad), or the coaches (bad), it's the line and MOSTLY the Qb's. I know the Bills are gonna suck at least for a few more years, but for me, I wouldn't care if they fielded a college defense for awhile, as long as they were scoring, because their games are just BOOORRRINGGGGG! And that is their worst crime against the fans. I know many disagree, but I would rather watch them lose 42-35, and think "well, they need to get some guys on the defense", than sit through these 3 and out, field goal festivals. It's the opposite of entertainment.
  14. Get real man, this offense has sucked season after season, well before last season's suck. I guess it will be a different kind of suck, and you can call that different and give it a big , but to me it's the same. Painfully bad.
  15. why don't they just wait to see who is left in the 7th or undrafted. Or maybe bring in a bunch supermarket baggers.
  16. Really? So you're basically saying that it was the offensive system that sucked and Chan Gailey and the boys would have had a way more successful offense with the same tools? Do you believe that with a new left tackle and the same QB's it's gonna be significantly better this season? Of course he would have to sign a longer deal, or some other kind of arrangement worked out.
  17. You want to bank on getting Locker next year? Easier said than done, especially after the offense explodes with a 1st round rookie left tackle blocking for Trent "I just needed a 1st round, rookie left-tackle for my career to skyrocket" Edwards (we might have 10 wins and draft 20th, THEN WHAT?).
  18. I would drop everything to send them the 41st pick! This whole season is a complete waste without a QB. They can still draft a left tackle in the first, and even the "draft a 3rd round Qb"or "draft a QB next year" people are happy. McNabb would make this team good enough that we would be able to evaluate the true needs of this team because they will be playing with an actual chance of winning, instead of going through the motions for the last 9 or 10 weeks of the season. With a improved team, the Bills would be a much more desirable destination for any Free Agents in the future too. I can't sit through this offense with the same QB's as last year, I don't care if we have the best left tackle in the league, it would still suck.
  19. So what? Pining away in hope of drafting the next Chad Pennington. Pathetic!
  20. I hope everyone in the NFL believes everything Nix says before the draft. You'se guy's is real smart.
  21. Anyone impressed by this statistic is a complete Trent Edwards ball washer.
  22. Funny quip, but TE's inability to get the ball downfield in his main problem. We know he is pretty accurate, but defenses only have to cover 10 yeards off the line of scrimmage, and this also allows the pass rush to just go all out (causing big problems for an O-line, even a good one) In other words, you have tried and succeeded in creating a statistic that makes Trent look "passable", when in fact he is laughable.
  23. 5 more wins. When a team actually BELIEVES they can win, when a defense actually believes that the offense can score and the defense isn't on the field all game, the attitude is completely different. Also, guys are more willing to play hurt. What was the point last season, of goingout on the field with even a slight injury when you knew nothing was going to come of it. The players end up thinking "I'm better off trying to get healthy". I heard an interview with Tim Brown where he talked about guys that are playing "for their legacy", how rare these guys are, and that most players are playing for a paycheck. There can't be a single player on these Bills that is playing to build a legacy. The Bills teams from the 90's had at least a 4-5. Attitude is everything, and it's hard to generate much without a decent QB (go ahead, hit me with the Ravens or some defensive juggernaut, that's the rare exception).
  24. Both units will suck, that's plain to see. However, I would much rather watch two teams scoring, than watch the one team (not the Bills) score a few times and the Bills get 5 first downs a game. I know someone is going to enlighten me with the old "Defense wins championships". Well, they are a long way from any championships, and in the meantime I would like to see a few touchdowns.
