This team can go 8-8 this year...if not better.

You're excited about 8-8? Everything you wrote is true, but they sucked and were 9-7. -
That's why they wanted Tebow.

Round 7, Pick #209: QB Levi Brown - Troy
Geno Smith's Arm replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe they are gonna say "it's his job to lose", just to send a message to the rest of the quarterbacks on the roster. -

It's true. We can't even judge the rest of the offense. because they don't have a QB that can take advantage of their talent. It's obvious. I don't care how good the protection is, if a defense only has to defend 15 yards deep, and knows that the QB is only capable of making a handful of throws ....well, you have the Bills offense. -

Yes we can! We can score more than they do! What you can't do, is win games if YOU don't score! -

It's the old "Defense wins championships" chestnut. If people prefer a team that is more known for defense, I'm fine with that. You still need to score. This team can't, and it demoralizes THE DEFENSE (as in "let's go out there and get our heads bashed, our knees twisted, and our bones crushed, to get the ball back for the offense, knowing that there is a slim to none chance of winning, or making the playoffs, or even scoring a touchdown". Not to mention that the defense spends way to much time on the field, defending poor field positions. A DECENT (meaning not insufferable) offense is needed for a defense to take over a game. -
This season is already conceded. Fine. I believe they can put togther a decent line to start 2011. They don't even have a real QB for this season.....

100 points! how about a effing touchdown! The only reason people could forget the bad defense is because the offense is even worse. AND BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hear that BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The games SUCK TO WATCH, because NOTHING HAPPENS when the Bills have the ball. NOTHING. For years now. I believe that they are choosing the best guys available. That's fine. -
Ralph Wilson Apologizing for fielding "a dull team"
Geno Smith's Arm replied to LGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That has been the worst crime to the fans! Not just losing, but being BOOOOOORRRRIIINNNGGGG!!!!!!! The games have sucked for years. If the Bills are just gonna lose anyway, the could at least be entertaining. I would much rather watch them lose 45-35 and have a 4-12 record, than sit through these dull, lifeless, field-goal battles. The Bills having beendragging other teams down to their own pitiful level BUT STILL LOSING! It has truly sucked. -
For now, you gotta let LAST YEAR'S pick simmer, hope he will fill the need you drafted him to fill, and get some of the other glaring weaknesses filled. Fool.
-
GOOD! Because even if they had the best pass rusher in the draft, they aren't going anywhere this year. They need to score some points. Leading the league in excitement would be a vast improvement over watching the dullest teams I can remember for the last few years. Getting more sacks for this team can be improved with one player. Getting the ball down the field and into the endzone will take at least 4 more good players (now with Spiller, 3).

You are on the money!

Great Job by Nix and company.
Geno Smith's Arm replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is fast (I don't know his 40, I know it's real good). Speed was lacking in the backfield. he can get to the edge like no other Bills running back I can remember. And he played against other speed players in college (unlike Bush in the PAC 10 or Ginn in the Big 10). Reggie Bush is a d-bag, that likely doesn't have the work ethic to reach his potential (lots of USC guys have turned out that way). I don't get the same feeling about Spiller. Ted Ginn is a one-dimensional RECEIVER. I think the Bills will finally get VALUE from the 1st round pick, even if it wasn't at the position of greatest need. -

I wanted a QB, or at least a LT, but they must feel that he was the only elite offensive player left. I'm fine with the pick. I'm guessing that they envision him as a guy that can make a difference on 3rd downs in particular. When you have Qb's that can only complete 15 yard passes, it makes some sense to have a RB that can catch the ball out of the backfield. I think the 2nd round is a good place to find another O-lineman. I don't even care about the defense, just get the ball in the endzone once in a while so the games are bearable to watch, then work on the defense. -
He will probably go to the Pats, have a nice career, and come back to kick the Bills @zz twice a year. Crime pays.

What if all the guys on TV disagreed? What if Bill Cowher said "Tony Pike!", Gruden said "Clausen", Jimmy Johnson said "Bradford", Mariucci said "LeFevour" etc. Would you know what to think? Lots of scouts out there, and most know more about the QB's than Gruden, or ANY of the TV commentators. All these guys have to answer the questions they are asked, so they have to have an opinion (or maybe they could say "you know what? I don't watch much college football, and I just kinda wait to see who the popular picks are, then watch some highlights on Youtube"). The Gruden show was more about entertainment than anything else. I know alot of people get off on his "tough guy" image, but I don't think he is an elite coach (yes, I know his stats, life story, favorite color etc). He will stay in the TV booth, he has nowhere to go but down if he ever came back.

Well, I for one DO want a special player. They have been picking poor to average guys in the first round for years. How about saving that "building block" attitude for the second round? They need some elite players here badly. They will likely draft towards the middle of the pack the next few years (jeez, I hope!). An above average Right Tackle at 9th overall for a team without a QB, LT, NT, any pass-rush, blahblahblah? Do you drive 4-door sedan?

Bills VERY high on G-Tech WR?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure bigger needs, but the draft is a crapshoot. And with so many needs they are better off choosing the guys that they believe have the best chance to excel. Yes, they need to improve the lines, but to just say "this year it's lines, next year it's receivers and tight ends, and the next it's linebackers" is foolish. After all these bad drafts, if they had just drafted guys that ended up a good value for the picks, they would be Super Bowl contenders. Good linebackers can make the lineman and /or defensive backs look good. A good QB can make the lineman look good. A running back can help open up the passing game. Blah, blah, blah! Even though I want a QB more than a left tackle, I will be content if they get a star-level player (doesn't have to be a "superstar") at just about ANY position (no defensive backs, PLEASE!), that actually plays here for awhile. It hasn't been the POSITIONS of the guys they have drafted through these lean years, it's been the PLAYERS. They have been choosing the wrong guys. And of course they can't seem to find a QB. -
We haven't had a decent Qb in so long that I don't know how anyone can evaluate our receivers. The Bills offense can only use about 15 yards from the line of scrimmage, and the defenses know that. It's awful to watch. They suck so bad, even the opponents fans don't want to watch their own defense against the Bills. It's just boring for everyone. As far as the rest of the division, it's the same answer. We can't really know how bad/good the team compares, because without a QB, the offensive talent is, uhh... "under-utilized".The whole team's attitude and effort is effected, because they know they are on the road to nowhere. Really not much to play for (the money is in the bank).

I used to want a LT, but.....
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gee, this just occurred to you! I have been talking about this point for months (i'm not claiming to be the only one). They aren't gonna contend for awhile and the sooner you get a rookie in the better, serviceable lineman are available every off season, a first rate Qb talent (I know any rookie's talent is disputable) isn't, so you usually have to draft one. It should be a no-brainer (IF they believe JC is a top talent). They have only drafted 2 first round Qb's, Kelly and Losman, it's not like they have been burned repeatedly. Jeezus, look how many first picks they have blown through the years. At least blow them on the most important position! -
what's wrong with claussen?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to theranter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are on the cusp of mediocrity, which will leave them in no-mans land when it comes time to pick a top talent QB in next years draft. It's not that confusing, or complicated. -

well put. I think the Bills are gonna be much better than last year, just because they got rid of so many clowns. Problem is, much better for this team is about 3 more wins, and a drafting slot in the upper-teens. They won't have a shot at the top rated Qb's next draft.
