Joe Paterno has a solution to violent hits...
Geno Smith's Arm replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course you do, because you (and JP) aren't playing in the NFL. -
Is that a joke? The most of the players are juicers, and the league doesn't want to catch them. I think that ex-players should just bequiet. Mike Dikta is the guy that wants more benefits for the injured ex-players, but he wants the current guys to play without helmets. Please. Now Joe Paterno wants them to remove the face mask. Great idea, James Harrison coming in for a hit with his shoulder into your teeth "I didn't use my helmet." "I'm gonna retire again". Brilliant. The league /game will be fine, it's not going to make it that much different. I don't watch football for the concussions.

That's a realistic suggestion. One that I have heard all day long from people that think it's clever.....

I think there has been a huge over reaction to the leagues decision to give out suspensions. What they are looking at are mostly Safeties playing a receiver for a hit instead of playing the ball. It's not hard for a referee to spot. They aren't taking away big hits. Anyone that has ever played football has been in a situation where a receiver is obviously venerable. They won't be making calls on guys running with the ball, just guys making catches. It's a CONSCIOUS decision to time the hit, and go for the body instead of the ball. Will there be more completions over the middle because it will be less intimidating? Probably. So what? Plenty of violence left for those of you that get off on that aspect of the game. I hope Harrison retires, what an Azz.

Jaguars Blueprint for Success
Geno Smith's Arm replied to akm0404's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt. It's also hard to win a Super Bowl. Some franchises never have. But usually they do it with a top shelf QB (especially if the teams that are contenders for long stretches. Here's what happens, they find an elite QB and they are contenders for a decade. Then said QB retires and they muck about until they find another one. Some teams take longer to get one than others, but they all know that they need one. Look at the 49er's. So lucky to have Montana then Young, but prior to Montana, and after Young? Nowhere. And it's not because of who is playing left tackle, it's because they haven't had a good enough QB. I'm confident that if a QB with top shelf potential is there, the Bills will pick him, regardless of what the fools on this board may want them to do. -

Why didn't we trade McGee?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to FightClub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope they do trade McGee. Not because I have negative feelings toward him, but because I think he deserves a chance to play for a good organization instead of a farm team. "Thing aren't going so well"? They haven't been going well the entire time he has played for the Bills. Put yourself in his shoes (don't bring up the money, evryone in the NFL is making big money, he can get that anywhere). It's like "Here man, take this bucket and scoop some water out of the Titanic". Haven't you given up on this season, or would you like to place a bet? -
Rebuilding, Redskin style
Geno Smith's Arm replied to finknottle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's almost ALL about the quarterback! If anything, the Redskins should be "case in point" #1 for how much difference a QB makes. If you don't have a QB that can operate the offense, the whole team is gonna suffer. Blahblahblah. That's the key to "Rebuilding", Get a f%*^%&* quarterback. -
Another coaching staff holding him back, forcing him to checkdown. He wants to throw it down field, but the old-timer coaches just want him to keep it close to the vest. He is really a gunslinger at heart.

For those that want to draft something other than QB
Geno Smith's Arm replied to drewfla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, but have you considered that the Bills would get LOTS more sacks if they played with a lead? If they played a game where the opposing offense didn't hold all the cards? Right now the defense (and really the whole team) is playing their worst football. Why ? Because they know the season is OVER! It's hard to convince guys to risk bodily harm when it's obvious that the season is over. Hard to gauge just how bad this beaten down defense really is (I KNOW they suck, but these are the worst of times). They have been playing with little hope for the post season now for many years, no QB leadership at all. They go into everygame knowing that the offense is gonna suck. They can't get onto IR quick enough. -

It's such a simple answer, but for some reason people want to figure out a way to dispute it. -
Felser's Article and our FO...
Geno Smith's Arm replied to rpcolosi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody here really knows what goes on behind the Bills closed doors. I wouldn't think that Modrak makes the picks. I would think that he grades the players. He might not be doing that job very well, but I don't blame him for the picks. -
For those that want to draft something other than QB
Geno Smith's Arm replied to drewfla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This topic has been run into the ground. There is no point arguing anymore. People are so dug in at their position, that they won't budge (some guys want a linebacker instead. How can you reason with that person?). There are still people out there that don't recognize that the NFL is completely based around the QB. And that even if the line sucks, if a top shelf prospect is available, the sooner he gets in Buffalo the better. -
I think people are taking this message board way too seriously. And now, after a decade of the Bills sucking, there is just a bad vibe around the team and it's fans. I hope (and expect) that the people that have left will come back.

Wow, this is some article written by a former agent
Geno Smith's Arm replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no reason why it couldn't be considered a "School Job". The schools don't want to give up the money, and will put up smoke screens forever to keep it the way it is. As far as Reggie Bush is concerned, the real reason he got aught was because he tried to scam the agent. He brought it on himself, and of course the school. -
Buddy going out on the road?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he doesn't trust that Modrak will do a good job, and knows Wilson won't fire Modrak, so he is doing it himself. -
Where do Good QBs Come From?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those teams are one and done. A team with a lead by the "Franchise QB" can compete for his entire career. Ravens, Bucs. They also SUCK to watch, and that might not mean much to you, but it does to me. -
Robert Quinn ruled permanently ineligible
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I won't give you any of those, I'll just let you know that it's very likely that most of the guys that are starting in the NFL got a little extra help in their college days. Where have you been, man? You living in 1950? Actually, they were likely doing the same, if not worse, back then. -
You aren't a GM. They aren't easy to trade. All the talent is unproven (the idea is that you have first choice, and your scouts know the right guy to pick). How about this point, some teams have NEVER been to a Super Bowl? Or this one; some teams have had to wait 20 years between Super Bowls? A team needs to have alot of things go right to collect a team good enough to win a Super Bowl. MOST taken have taken the path of drafting QB's in the first round and hoping that they found a good one. The Bills have only drafted 2 Qb's in the first round. One lead them to the glory years of the franchise, the other crapped out. I think it's time to roll the dice again.....

Insert "new left tackle" or "new linebacker" instead of quarterback, and the sentence sounds better? If there is a worthy QB they would be fools NOT to take him, it's the most important player on a team. Yes, these Bills suck, but quarterback has been the biggest missing piece for the longest amount of time. They have only had any real success when they have had an elite QB (Kelly, if you needed the name), the other parts are important too, but none as much as the quarterback.

If it turns out that that is Favre's dick, it will be a rough season for "Mr. Packer". Anyone that thinks his race is gonna make a difference in the media feeding frenzy is delusional. It's just that circumstances seem a bit suspect with the timing of the release of this, and it wouldn't be that difficult to fake the "evidence". I don't really care about either Woods or Favre's sex life, but I never liked Woods, because he comes across as an elitist prick. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to find out that Favre is an arrogant, entitled, good ole boy.

What if Fitz gets hurt?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to 12 15 11 7 10 11 7 5 14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he gets hurt, These Bills lose a bunch of games. If he doesn't get hurt? These Bills lose a bunch of games. You really worry about it at this point?
