Nix/Gailey, the Big 10, and the Pac 10
Geno Smith's Arm replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahh! Here's the quote that cuts to the crux. If Whitner had played in the SEC he never would have been drafted so high, because they would have plenty of tape of him playing against the elite talent of the SEC instead the weaker Big 10 talent. I think they are following the talent, and don't think they will skip over a great talent just because they don't play in the South. I have no interest in college football beyond how well the guys might play for the Bills. The South has more talent and they are playing at a higher performance level. I think concentrating on players from those schools is a logical thing to do. -
The official Get 'R Done Thread (OL)
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Billsnutt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are LOTS of teams that are weak in the O-line. Even teams with good starters don't have good depth. It's a common problem throughout the league, and the Bills probably feel that developing their own guys will be the most effective way to improve the O-line. -
Looks can be deceiving...

You're CRAZY man! The kicked butt throughout a PRESEASON game! -
Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs

Why not punter? Or QB? -
How many Bills would start for New England?
Geno Smith's Arm replied to whiteboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just about ANY Bill would become a better player if surrounded by better teammates. A better offense allows a defense to rest, play with a lead, blah, blah, blah. The Bills have been adding talent. It's gonna take a while. -
You are gonna have to wait one more year. They can't fix it all in one fell swoop.

There's an interesting word coming out of Bills camp
Geno Smith's Arm replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller used terms like that before last season. I think there will be a leap in the offensive production though. I think there is a big difference in attitude when the players know that they have a QB that is capable. This year, all off-season and from the start of camp, they know that they will have a chance to win some games, and that it could be a FUN season instead of week to week humiliation. -
Shannon Sharpe isn't hall worthy
Geno Smith's Arm replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, it might. Like I said, all these modern receiver stats are so inflated that they lose some impact. I expect Bruce to get in. -

Maybe Bruce. Not Holt. Modern wide receiver numbers just get more and more inflated because of the way passing has taken over the game. -

Isn't it obvious? He won a Super Bowl. There is also the fact that only 2 guys (Faulk and Warner) from that team are going to the HoF as opposed to the Bills, who had a bunch of guys splitting up the credit (so to speak). -
I can't imagine that they haven't tried this before, but didn't work out. He might be useful as a pass rusher with fresh legs,in the event the Bills have a 3 touchdown lead, with 4 minutes on the clock in the 4th quarter, against a team passing every down, with a worn out O-line, where Maybin can run real fast at the QB unencumbered.

My bills sleepers for the year
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Defend Greece's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps, but to me it's someone that produces way beyond what is expected. I haven't seen much talk about him on here (as opposed to Dareus), except whining about the Bills drafting another DB, and I think he will have more impact than expected. You will be very busy correcting folks here if you are such a stickler. Nice to have someone like you here keeping us honest. Good luck! -

Aaron Williams is gonna make some big plays this season. I believe it. -

Maybin Seeks Knowledge from Talley
Geno Smith's Arm replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C'mon man, "a great player"? It's obvious that he will never be that. Let's hope he can become an average player. That alone would blow our collective minds. -
I think a big part of being successful is maximizing the potential of your team. I think the physical differences between all these 300 lbs. lineman (on either side of the ball) are generally minimal. The real differences are inside these guys. Heart, intelligence, and attitude. These Bills are big enough, and they have added some talent. The real changes have to happen in their heads. I expect them to jump up to the middle of the pack this season, but they play in such a tough division that they might have to settle for 3rd there. Between the Pats and Jets, I think one of them won't be as good as expected. The Pats are in decline, and the Jets have flaws on offense.

The writer likely knows nothing about the Bills. They will definitely not finish last this season. These writers are often no more knowledgeable than the people who post here. I know little about many of the teams. I couldn't tell you a thing about the direction of say, the Jacksonville Jaguars, just that they suck and are excited to get Poz. The league is always shifting, with once great players becoming average, and average becoming crap. The Bills are on an upward trend, and even if Fitz goes down they have an at least capable backup in Thigs. My pick for last? Denver.

It's a real condition. It's also not curable. It usually stems from some kind of childhood trauma (like sexual or physical abuse). I don't think of it as an excuse though, because it's really damning. If someone is just immature they can grow up, learn some lessons, humility etc,. People with BPD don't learn from past mistakes, they will do anything to escape their depression, and will NEVER accept blame(he might admit he did "something" wrong, but if you point to a specific action, it will always be a reaction to someone else's wrongdoing). I think there is a difference between arrogance, immaturity, etc, and BPD. They are truly awful to be around

This all reminds me of when Terrell Owens signed, and everyone was counting the touchdowns, and saying how the Trent Edwards led offense was gonna be so hard to stop. The Bills defense will be better, but I don't see them becoming "one of the better defenses". I think they might leap up to the middle third. They are accumulating some talent finally, and playing with a lead will help too (if the offense is better too, which I suspect it will be).

Brad Smith...Update...signs with Buffalo
Geno Smith's Arm replied to Mike In Illinois's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is a nice addition. He makes the team better. Gailey has something in mind for him. They are working on getting lineman and linebackers too. Quit bitching. -
They have to figure out some way to spend their money on players that aren't O-lineman or linebackers!
-
Strong chance that the Jets
Geno Smith's Arm replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everybody here hates cornerbacks, but loves the Jets defense. I know they have the other pieces, but they obviously place a VERY high value on CB's. If I were them I would spend money on offense.... -

Yer right! That's kinda what I mean. There are WAY more people in Erie County, and the power structure runs DEEP. They won't hand off the Bills to Niagara County.
