  1. Every team in the league has weaknesses, and perhaps pass rushing is the Bill's. Doesn't mean they can't win a lot of games, or that they are automatically "out of the running". The opponents' style of play had something to do with the lack of pass rush too.
  2. Hopefully, in the future a retired Bill can take his job!
  3. Cocks, this forum is an exchange of opinions and analysis.
  4. Can you at least admit they are on the right track WEO? You seem to have had plenty of football foresight to criticize the team BEFORE the season, yet now can't show any foresight concerning the direction of the team?
  5. Thanks for providing a perfect example of the embellishments that follow a guy like Brady: "Brady dated actress Bridget Moynahan from 2004 until late 2006.[56] On February 18, 2007, Moynahan confirmed to People magazine that she was more than three months pregnant with her and Brady's child.[56][57] Brady and Moynahan ended their relationship sometime in early December 2006, around the time Moynahan became pregnant.[58] Brady was present when the baby, John Edward Thomas Moynahan,[59] was born on August 22, 2007 at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica.[60] The baby has Brady's first and middle names as middle names, though in reverse order (Moynahan's father's first name is Edward, however)." Hardly "leaving a check under the doormat" of some "broad". He seems to be a reasonably decent human. I wonder how well the stone throwers' lives would hold up under a microscope.
  6. The real point is that envy is motivating all this hatred of Brady. You know it.
  7. Then he is even more impressive.
  8. Brady balls supermodels, and travels the world. He has been getting chased and tackled by some the biggest and fastest humans alive, most juiced up on exotic chemicals designed to increase size and speed, and all of them hoping to inflict maximum damage. And he wins virtually every game he plays in. He is definitely "more man" than you.
  9. How do you define "effectively"? They won the games they have played. They played against 2 of last years the best rushing teams. They have been at least "pretty good" against the run so far. I think it's the passing game they have struggled with, though the game plan obviously stressed containing the run. I don't see NE suddenly trying to become a rushing powerhouse. They know where their bread is buttered.
  10. The line was GREAT against a very good D-line. I just want to throw the name Chan Gailey into this thread too. Just because he should be mentioned in every good thread.
  11. On 11/18/2007, New England beat up on the Bills 56-10 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. That was the day they passed the Dolphins as the Bills main all-time rivals.
  12. I don't recall any screen passes by the Bills against the Chiefs (I was watching it online and missed chunks of plays). They worked on screens quite a bit at training camp. I wonder if they might come into play more this week?
  13. I think this years offense can get something going, it's stopping the Pats offense that is the real problem. The Bills need specialized players to stop the Pats offense. I guess that is my main point.
  14. I think a good strategy would be attack with the pass rush (of course you need a very good one), and go for punishing hits on the receivers from the start. They will get their catches, and score some points, but it will wear on them. The NE running game isn't much of a threat. The Bills aren't really at this stage yet. Next season, me hopes.
  15. I agree that their defense isn't special, and I have posted that I think they are on a decline and that I don't expect them to win the AFC. I think Brady will have a great season, but I think they are overrated. I think the Bills are good enough to beat them once this year, and they are on the way to really competing with them, but are one exceptional pass rusher short. Hopefully they will land one by next season.
  16. I'm not overlooking the Raiders (I'm not a player, so I don't think I have to "take the games one at a time"). The Pats just had a big game, they are our main rivals in the division, and we just got our first look at them. Really dude, I don't think we as fans have to "stay focused on the next opponent" and all that jazz. I anticipate a tough game against the Raiders, I commented on that in a different thread.
  17. I don't think many anticipated the blowout (it's just one win, on opening day, a day filled with blowouts) but I think it was apparent that the team was getting better players, the schedule appears lighter, the coaching staff has accumulated more players to fit their approach/"scheme", they acquired players that would likely greatly upgrade pivotal positions (seemed like EVERYONE at training camp could see that Dareus was going to improve the play of everyone around him), and that they would be better than a 4-12 team. I'm not putting them in the Super Bowl, but so many on this board just TRASHED the team's off-season, and sportswriters actually considered them among the frontrunners in the "Andrew Luck Sweepstakes". They are better than that. National writers that don't pay attention to the Bills (for valid reasons) can be excused, but local guys should have a better feel for the team than say, Jason Cole of Yahoo. The improvements and the conditions around the team were obvious to me, just a guy on the internet. Of course, I may be wrong, and they could suck, but sportswriters are supposed to have INSIGHT into the game and teams they cover, no? Isn't that why you guys go to training camp (or is that all just play by play? "Marcus Easley caught a 10yd pass from Thigpen. Johnny White, ran for 2, tackled by Dareus. It rained Sunday night, and Mike Jasper stayed extra long signing autographs)? Maybe it's just easier to go with the status quo? I expect writers to go out on a limb, and have a sense for the team/league. Otherwise, why not just say you don't know what to expect from this team? What do you think NOW, one week in? What do think their record will be, now that you have had the benefit of seeing them (as well as all the other NFL teams) play a full regular season game? (I predicted 10-6, 9-7)
  18. I am very happy with the progress of the Bills, and believe they are much improved, but I THINK they are still lacking in some of the matchups needed to compete with the Pats (I know , BIG surprise). It's apparent that the way to beat the Pats is by pressuring Brady CONSTANTLY. The Bills are better, and will compete with MOST NFL teams, but they seem to still be lacking a dominate pass rush (Merriman can do it, but he has a history of injuries, and they need TWO serious threats. Think Bennett and Smith, Paup and Smith. Gotta have 2). It's difficult to evaluate the pass rush so early in the season, because I'm not sure what the game plan was against the Chiefs (they may have just wanted to concentrate on stopping the run), but I don't see them generating the kind of rush needed to get into Brady's head. (Not to live in the past, but if Maybin had been 3/4 the player they had anticipated, they would be sitting pretty). I think the Bills have a good shot to beat the Pats this year (like 4 in 10 type odds), but not in the playoffs. I expect the Pats to pick on Aaron Williams, and that he will give up some big plays in an "educational" game for AW. I also expect AW to intercept a Brady pass. It's nice that the Bills are better, I like the direction of the team, and I'm sure they are aware of what they need to beat the Pats, but they need some key pieces to take on the Pats specifically.
  19. McFadden is a game changer, and offensively he is the key. I am hoping that Aaron Williams get some needed experience in this game to prepare him for the Pats the week after (Brady is gonna pick on him if he starts). Defensively Mclain and Seymour are the big concerns. All the intangibles point to a Bills victory (short week, home opener)and I expect the Bills to win. But it won't be as easy as some might think given the Raiders recent history.
  20. To me this site is about how you feel the Bills are being run. People that claimed they haven't been going in the right direction should declare it, and people that think they are going in the right direction should declare it. I am not claiming the Bills have accomplished ANYTHING. I'm not getting giddy over the blowout of the lowly Chiefs. I'm not even talking playoffs. I AM giving those that claimed the Bills Organization hasn't improved a chance to change their stance after this first game. Any jackass can say "yes, they are better" at the end of the year, but that doesn't really show much insight does it?
  21. BEFORE THIS GAME: I could tell that the depth was better at linebacker, defensive back, and D-line FOR SURE. I had a pretty good idea that Fitz, Bell, Wood, and Levitre would be better. I could tell that Dareus would have a huge impact on the the players around him and against the running game. I can guess that their schedule looks easier this season. I'm not trying to read too much into this one game, because I don't have much respect for the Chiefs. I'm not picking the Bills to win the division. I could tell that they will win more than 4 or 5 games this season Of course no one knows for sure, that's why they play the games. But my EXPECTATIONS which is what we are talking about, seem reasonable to me.
  22. This is exactly how I feel about this subject.
  23. I was a little surprised by the final score, but I thought the Bills would win pretty easily. I have predicted a 10-6, 9-7 season. How anyone looks at their fairly easy schedule (compared to last years especially) and thinks they can't win more than 4 games is just being defeatist. Or, even more likely, wants to say "I told you so". I can't stand watching Bills games with people that constantly harp on past years mistakes, especially since the team has had such a huge turnover of starting players. They aren't the same guys!
  24. No. I am asking the people that, going into this season have felt that the Bills haven't made improvement to step forward and stand by their opinions so that later in the year we can discuss how right or wrong they were, and we can find them easily. What is so complicated? OF COURSE IF THEY SUCK AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND HAVEN'T SUSTAINED QUALITY PLAY THEY WON'T BE BETTER. ARE YOU A !@#$ING IDIOT?
