You think the Bills aren't as good as the Giants? You would trade lineups? You think the Bills would lose at home?
-
I think most knew that coming into this game. The defense will be fine. It's not a dominating defense, but good enough to win 10 games, and maybe a playoff game against the right opponent. What else could anyone have hoped for coming into this season?
-
It was a regular game. Most of these the Bills will win. Some they will lose. 10-6. They will be better on the road by the end of the season.

The Bills are fine. 10-6, playoffs.

Whatever Chan tells him(or doesn't tell him) will be the right thing.

What an !@#$ this writer is! With the internet, the world has become more de-centralized. I live in LA, but if I could, I would leave. If you live in a city that has a decent airlines you're all set. Live cheap, travel well...

The Bills have some young guys that will likely get much better as the season goes on. Those first 3 picks (lineman, D-back, and linebacker) seem to be coming along, and it looks like the Bills got starters at each level of the defense. This could be the best draft in many years.

While I certainly think the Bills could lose this Sunday, I think that if some of the naysayers applied the same critical eye on the Giants 5 games, that they have put on the Bills, they would see that the Giants aren't very good. I wouldn't trade uniforms with the Giants, I think our Bills are better.

7th and 5th. I think you are reading into it a bit much. I think the Raiders will challenge the Chargers, but I just think they were looking for a linebacker because they were a bit thin there. I don't think it's some kind of "new aggressive attitude", or some such. I don't expect he will have much impact on their season...
-
Perhaps, but do you think it will be because they picked up Curry? I don't... Yep. That is why the team has turned around so fast.
-
Yeah, slow and steady. Us fans have to keep our head in the game. We can't let up, or think about anything but next week. Who knows, I might get injured cutting the lawn and not be able to cheer as well for the rest of the season! And at the same time, a Jets fan is right this minute recuperating from sore throat and is gonna come back STRONGER THAN EVER! Ready to cheer his team to the playoffs! Yes, I think you are right, we Bills fans are gonna blow the season with this looking ahead business.

I think they will split the division games, and I definitely don't expect them to win 7 in a row! I think 10-6, 11-5 seems right.

Anyone watch the bills on NFL rewind?

I think when a team is way ahead, the officials give the team trying to comeback more leeway. -

Kickoffs are practically a formality. I think the old way of keeping a guy because of his special teams skills has lost a lot of importance. I realize there are still punts, but the amount gained by having a better "regular" player seems to now outweigh the special teamer. Unless we are talking about a guy that can block kicks or something. -
George Edwards needs to at least be demoted

Okay. Tell us what you think their final record will be this season? You have had 5 weeks to evaluate the league, I think you should have a pretty good feel by now. Tell us just how crappy this team is. -

It's because before the season they likely were raving about the Eagles, and laughing at the Bills. Now they are trying to tear Philly down as incompetent instead of questioning their own lack of insight going into this season. Very few of the "experts" have been paying attention to the Bills for many seasons now, so they don't really have a grasp of how they have improved. The Bills lineup is almost completely different that just a few seasons ago. They are only now BEGINNING to draw enough attention that "experts" can start to assess them. These are the kind of guys that every year talk about how "talented" the Cowboys are even though they never win many games. -

The Bills are 4-1 and you decide to bring out the "roll eyes", and smugly tell us that they really aren't any good. -

Gee, while I agree with your post, I think the coaching staff deserves a little higher praise than "competent". -

The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.

I understand and agree with the assessment of the DJ Bears, but I believe that the turnovers in this Eagles game were brought on by the desperation that the Eagles had to play with. For 3 quarters the defense had to play against a team that was pretty much willing to go 4 downs anytime they had the ball. All the games won't be like this one, but if they are we know that this defense is equipped to play this way. You are basically judging them based on extreme circumstances. They have played well enough to win under those circumstances, but we don't know yet how they well they will play under different conditions, like in a low scoring, close game. I think they will be fine. I thought they played well enough against the Raiders when they had to shut them down to allow for a comeback. Shouldn't that count for something? -
How will we know if the Bills defense has improved or if the games they play in have just dictated that they play a different style? If they win a low scoring, tight game one week, then win a few weeks later in a shootout like this game, what will it mean to you? As I have noted on this board, I think that they are giving up a lot of yards and points because they have been playing under extreme conditions. Protecting a big lead for 3 quarters is difficult because of the risks the offense is willing to take. The best way to counter it is by opportunistically pouncing on the mistakes that most teams will make in their desperation. The Bills defense did that. That doesn't mean it is the only way they can play. When a team plays a close-to-the-vest, grind it out game, and beats the Bills, then I think they will warrant real criticism. That hasn't happened yet. The Raiders wanted to kill the clock , but they couldn't, right? In this game the offense was the let down, they were responsible for allowing a dangerous offensive team back on the field. The Bills will be fine, they have faced some very good offenses.

Okay. So what do you think the Bills final record will be this season? -
I think that is a good prediction. Calling a defense "utter trash" certainly doesn't imply you think they are a playoff team though.
-
I think you are on to something. And the Jerry Sullivan connection is right on. It's like "they aren't going to win the Super Bowl, so I can just tsk, tsk, tsk all these silly fans that think they are any good". As long as the Bills don't win the Super Bowl, they can always claim to be right ("Oh, that porous defense. I told everyone"). None of these guys go out on a limb and actually predict a final season record for the Bills though, even with 5 games to analyze.
