  1. I don't respond to posters that use emoticons...
  2. Exactly. This is how Yahoo generates hits, and also see's what people are interested in. If the headline generates lots of hits, they follow up the "controversy" with more stories about it. They did the same thing with the Steven Tyler National anthem. NOTHING HAPPENED! A guy sang the anthem pretty straight ahead, wearing a funny scarf. The headline read something like "Rocker Steven Tyler's Controversial National Anthem (subtitle: But it's not what you think)" And the story is about his goofy scarf! Next thing you know, people are asking each other "What did you think about that anthem?" etc. NOTHING HAPPENED! Yahoo does this EVERYDAY, and simple minds go along.
  3. Every poster that brings out the old "Defense wins championships"... Surely you have seen those posts? Or perhaps you are being disingenuous?
  4. Yeah, it does makes me think. Makes me think those positions are way overrated...next up Super Bowl DC George Edwards. Let's hear more complaining about the scheme too!
  5. Here's your explanation: "We have struggled to find a viable STARTING QB for more than a decade. We are ecstatic that we now have a starter. If we are very lucky, we might find a decent backup (something few teams in the league actually have)".
  6. He was great before the injury. If it is true, to complain about him still being the Bills QB is ridiculous.
  7. Which part do you want a link to? I mostly posed questions. Other than that, you want a link about Jerry Jones wanting the Bills to move? You can search that yourself, it was mentioned plenty during the union negotiations. "Link?" What a ****. WEO, you have been following the NFL closely enough to know about those rumors, without a link. Yes, I believe some "rumors", especially ones that make sense.
  8. The blackouts appear to be on the way out (mainly because TV ratings have become more important than gate attendance). I realize that the league uses LA as leverage against cities, but LA isn't the only place the Bills could move. And what backs up a threat by a team to move, better than an example of a team moving? As in "if you don't give us what we want, we will move. And if you don't believe we will back that up, look what happened in Buffalo". Pretty good threat, no? I already said I didn't think they would move, but dismissing the possibility seems unrealistic. As I said, the perceptions of any new owner, the other owners, and the TV networks are what matter. I think many perceive "the Buffalo Region" as a declining population, a place that will continue to watch NFL anyway, and a place that won't yield maximum returns. I don't think there is much support from other owners to keep the Bills in Buffalo , and that makes them more vulnerable to being moved by a new owner.
  9. That's not the point. The point is, would the NFL lose many of those households if they left the area, is the area likely to lose more population, would another area provide MORE viewers, and do the other owners and the networks believe they will get higher overall ratings if the Bills moved. It's as much about perception as it is about statistics. I already stated that I don't think they will move. But I also believe that there are many owners that would prefer they moved. We can start with Jerry Jones.
  10. It's not just about sharing the gate revenue, it's how much they can wrestle from the TV networks. As far as the Bills "regional appeal", well, I am curious what their TV ratings are (I wish they would start winning to boost those numbers). If the NFL thinks they can do better somewhere else, and that they would likely still retain strong viewership in what is currently "the Buffalo Bills Region", they won't give a crap how you or anyone else wants to count heads.
  11. I think the "diluted talent" argument is weak. I don't think 2 more crappy teams would change the overall appeal of the league. As far as the "LA won't support a team" argument, attendance was more important when the teams left, and it could be argued that they didn't leave because of poor attendance, but for other reasons. What the NFL wants is the TV ratings from Southern California. They think they will get more viewers if they have a team/teams in LA. I don't think the Bills will move, but neither of those arguments are likely to convince other owners to keep them in Buffalo.
  12. Don't know who they should pick (I like the idea of Upshaw in the 1st, then Ronnell Lewis in the 2nd), but I hope the first 2 picks are those positions.
  13. From what I understand, the real problem is that many of the owners would like to see the Bills moved to a larger market in order to increase profits for the entire league. Jerry Jones for instance. They want to maximize the shared profits. The owners also must approve any new owner, and might want an owner that wants to move the team.
  14. This is how a news site generates hits. This is how a controversy is generated out of nothing. This is how a city shows how "small" it is. This is the biggest non-story since the "Steven Tyler National anthem". It is nothing.
  15. That's a lot of "Dominance". I really don't think we can expect them to get "dominant" players at all these positions (Who has this many dominant players?). The problem is that they don't have AVERAGE players at some of these positions. I think they need to upgrade these positions, but the area that one player could have the biggest impact is a pass rusher, be it an OLB or a DE. The other areas they would do well with an upgrade OR a specialist. For instance, I don't think they need to have a dominant new WR. I think if they can get a deep threat (one that isn't solely a one-trick pony like Lee Evans) that can draw some deep coverage (he wouldn't even HAVE to have the best hands, but pose a threat) that would open things up a bit. Of course, I'm not averse to them getting a dominant WR, I just think there are more pressing needs. They mostly need DEPTH, especially on the O-line. They played well enough to win when they had a full roster. And the one good thing about all the injuries is that the overall roster got lots more experience. Hopefully they will be able to cash that in this year. One special player on the defense could make a big difference too. For all the "defense wins championships" talk, I think it has become more of a "big play defenses win games", as opposed to some kind of "shut-down" defense. The DB's have shown that they can make big plays, and I would love to see how much better they would be if the Bills had a more effective pass rush.
  16. Sounds like Marcus Stroud all over again...
  17. None of these people are getting into the hall. The only one that might deserve it is Reed. Spare me the Tasker ballwashing. Backups and marginal starters are the main players on the field during special teams plays. He did well defensively, but he was nothing special as a returner, which are the real featured players on ST's (for a good reason). If he was that exceptional, he would have been a star on offense or defense, where the rest of the exceptional players make their mark. No, I don't need to be told about his exploits, I watched every play he made as a Bill. It's a quaint little bit of Bills folklore, and the kind of complaint that teams without any Super Bowl rings like to latch onto. I couldn't care less about the Hall of Fame. I want some championships. It's a team sport.
  18. Kellen Moore is short. Tom Brady is 6'4. It matters, and no, I don't need a list of short QB's.
  19. I think the writer is spot on. As I have said, if the Bills could get a hold of C. Upshaw in the 1st (Jack LB), and Ronnell Lewis in the 2nd (Sam LB, he may not last that long, but he does in most mocks)I think they could cure a lot of defensive ills.
  20. I think he has missed some important kicks. He may be the best the Bills can do for now though.
  21. As I said, I think he is fine, but the degree of pressure is exponentially higher when the season is on the line. I can't recall any big kicks he has been asked to make, but that's because the Bills haven't played in any big games. Here is his "Wiki history", some missed "high-pressure" kicks, mixed with his high points: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rian_Lindell One kicker that is a huge asset is Janikowski. His ability to make those long field goals can really impact a game strategically. Moorman is nothing special.
  22. I think he is fine. But like I said, he hasn't really been in any high pressure situations. I can't think of any at least, can you? Do you disagree?
  23. I think he is alright. However, it could be argued that he has never had to kick under pressure. He may have had some game winners, but he has NEVER had to kick in a playoff game. And, of the game winners, how many were "important". What I mean is, were they the game winning kicks during say, the 14th game of of a 4-12 season? I don't think we really know what we have in Lindell, and I wouldn't break the bank for him.
