  1. I generally agree, but it should be pointed out that in Karras' day, they weren't paid exorbitant amounts of money. Most had regular jobs in the off-season (selling insurance, etc). The modern players are a whole different situation.
  2. Then what are you talking about? Ray Lewis, no matter what "tier" you want to place his position, has had "top tier" effectiveness and influence on football games. Really, WTF are you trying to get at?
  3. Well, if he is a 3-down player, he won't be a liability if an offense tries to pass on early downs, or run on 3rd and short. That's pretty important, with teams passing so much now. All this bickering about the position of the player seems silly, when there are so many first round busts/mediocre players selected in the first. I just want them to find value.
  4. Mike Williams should have made the list, but Buffalo is often forgotten, even for negative things. I know that he unfortunately developed a disease, and bust wouldn't really fit, but I never see Booker Moore (RIP) mentioned. He is like some forgotten piece of Bills history.
  5. It's because he is a fool.
  6. You're right. I think they are trying to downgrade at LB. I think they are realizing more and more, that LB's aren't important to their defensive scheme. Thanks!
  7. I'm with you on David! His ability to read plays is incredible. I trust them to know better than me what they need, if only because they know what their future plans are. There will be some loose veterans cut that could fortify the ranks, too. Honestly, I just want them to get good value with their first pick, whatever the position may be.
  8. I haven't argued that they should select Kuechly! I just want them to get the BPA, if that is Kuechly, and there isn't a comparable talent at a position of greater need, I'm fine with with it. I mainly don't want them to whiff on the pick. I think there will be good value at linebacker in the 3rd and 4th rounds! I also don't think they should ape every aspect of the Giants, like they are the only defense that can beat the Pats. The Pats are tweaking their offense all the time, and there is more than one way to get pressure on the QB. Having good, talented LB's won't hurt this defense.
  9. I thought the Giants didn't need good linebackers for their defense? Or at least that's what the anti-Kuechly crowd keeps saying.
  10. I have watched his highlights, and they are good. But I wanna see the "lowlights". I wanna see if he had any problems throwing from the pocket.
  11. I agree. The problem with the Bills HAS NOT been that they have chosen players at the wrong playing position (too many CB's or not enough linemen, etc.). It's that they haven't hit on many elite players.
  12. I posted "Maybe he can wear platform cleats", got to the last post and saw that you beat me to it. haha! Is it against league rules to wear something like those? How about to block field goals?
  13. I just get the impression that Bell didn't want to play for the Bills. Perhaps they didn't really want him back either. No one here knows what has gone on between him and the organization, or other players. He hasn't come out and said anything derogatory about Buffalo, it's fans, or even the Bills. The Bills had him for pretty cheap while he was here, too. Let the guy get on with his career, no need to hate the guy.
  14. I hear they have a bust of him already sculpted in Canton! They keep it in the supply room, on a shelf, next to a Tebow. It's just a rumor though...
  15. Better yet, have him play Wildcat QB, cuz who's gonna sack him?
  16. I don't want them to move Levitre, but I don't think it's fair to assume that he would be a "disaster" at center. He was pressed into action, and didn't have much time to work with Fitz on the ball exchange. Then, after a week's work, he has to debut at center in a monsoon in Miami, on a muddy field. I have no doubt that if he had a complete training camp at center, he would excel.
  17. Of course they saw SOMETHING in Brady. He played for a prominent college, in a prominent conference. There is a pool of players that come out of college each year that have a set of measurable skills, and athleticism that meet the standards of the NFL. Tom Brady was one of them, and it was likely that he was going to get selected eventually, but the limited number of QB openings means QB's often fall. There was a lot more luck than involved in his selection than scouting prowess. Other teams likely had him similarly rated, but NE wanted a QB to develop, and he was on the board.
  18. I think every NFL team has some great guys, and some bad guys, and everything in-between. The Bengals might have some of the greatest fathers, giving neighbors, and kindest humanitarians, all mixed in with some bad apples. There are a lot of people involved in the makeup of an NFL team. I'm sure there are guys on the Bills right now, that I would want nothing to do with, and others that I would think are really good people.
  19. I already mentioned a response to that in my post. They used all their receivers very well...
  20. Okay, but it's hard to turn a 7 yard pass into anything when the defense KNOWS you aren't going to throw the ball more 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. Everyone could see that defenses were sitting on the short routes.
  21. Trentative wouldn't even throw the ball. I'm not trying to paint Parrish as a star or anything, but those guys really sucked, and it's hard to judge a receiver when the QB is so bad. As an aside... People lose their mind, but I consider Rice to be slightly overrated, because he had 2 consecutive Hall of Famer's throwing him the ball. Some will say "he put THEM in the HoF", but they made all their receivers look good.
  22. Those guys would kill Jerry Rice's stats...
  23. I understand not liking him as a player, but playing most of his active career with Lossman and Trentative, had a big impact on his stats.
  24. I'm glad he is gone, but I have plenty of respect for his play. He was a disappointment, but it was never for a lack of trying. Unfortunately, he is the kind of guy that plays bigger than his body will allow, but to blame him seems a bit callous. Rivers might maximize his potential, and hopefully he is able to remain healthy. The warmer weather could help.
  25. Why? Kuechly can play ANY linebacker position! They just have him listed at Inside. Read up on the player...
