Pominville is a good 2nd line player who was forced to play 1st line minutes by default after Briere and Drury were let go. Vanek has never had a 1st line center to maximize his potential. Both of those issues are on Darcy, and unfortunately he will be the one staying.

There's nothing they can realistically do that will excite me this year given the lack of sure-thing QBs in the draft, but I am cautiously optimistic that they have acknowledged how bad they are and need a different approach. Get rid of the instigator penalty in hockey. It would eliminate alot of the stickwork and cheap shots if they could, as Rob Ray says, "address the situation" without worrying about taking an extra penalty.

My fear is that they will stay in the playoff race just enough that Darcy won't make any significant changes. They are not LA, their power play is atrocious and they would not win in the playoffs.
