It's knowing that your door is always open And your path is free to walk That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag Rolled up and stashed behind your couch And it's knowing I'm not shackled By forgotten words and bonds And the ink stains that are dried upon some line That keeps you in the back roads By the rivers of my memory That keeps you ever gentle on my mind

Back in the 60’s my parents made me play little league baseball on Kensington. I didn’t know what I was doing and there really wasn’t much teaching. Back then they just expected kids to know how to play, so we just had games. The only time I got on base was a walk. -
Now there's no need to demand Grab my golden hand I'll teach you and you'll never be sure If the way that you need Is too much like greed Decide if you are rich or you're poor Because this love That I have to give Must be better than that kind It can make you rich It can make you poor But i know that you'll miss me blind

I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end

Ah, my buddy Jim Bass, he's a-working pumping gas And he makes two-fifty for an hour He's got rhythm in his hands as he's tapping on the cans Sings rock and roll in the shower Driving over Kanan, singing to his soul There's people out there turning music into gold

The old folks say That you gotta end your date by ten If you're out on a date And you bring it home late it's a sin There just ain't no excusin' You know you're gonna lose and never win I'll say it again And it's all because Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll Your mama don't dance And your daddy don't rock and roll When evening rolls around And it's time to go to town Where do you go To rock and roll?

Some girls give me money, some girls buy me clothes Some girls give me jewelry, that I never thought I'd own Some girls give me diamonds, some girls, heart attacks Some girls I give all my bread to, I don't ever want it back
