Hypothetical: 1st-Clausen 2nd- Tate
Billsfanfourlife replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please watch this: Also just to throw it out there, Clausen and Tate played with one of the worst offensive lines in Notre Dame history, he is very good at avoiding sacks and not throwing interceptions when he does scramble. (4int's in his senior year) Tate is a guy that wants the ball, I actually see him surpassing Evans because Evans as much as I love him, does not demand the ball. Hes a go with the flow type of player. Tate will demand the ball comes his way because he wants that game changing play, something we lack on this team. -
Hypothetical: 1st-Clausen 2nd- Tate

Exactly, Tate gets open. He has some of the strongest hands I've ever seen. (See the hail mary play to the end zone in the Clausen highlight tape) We have size guys and a burner with Evans. Now we can have the unpredictable playmaker Golden Tate. Lets do it OBD. -

They lacked any resemblance of a Defense... -
Hypothetical: 1st-Clausen 2nd- Tate

"Tate is not that guy. Drafting him does not provide a matchup advantage against guys like Revis or Vontae Davis so why use an early selection there?" Why is Eddie Royal and Desean Jackson so successful then? Going off this "size is what matters" idea means Hardy should instantly be a Pro-Bowler after all he is the tallest wide receiver in the league. I realize he was hurt last year, but there is a reason as to why he was on the PUP list so long and was not used when he was healthy. He just doesn't get it. Imagine this as your Top 3 WR: Evans: Outside Hardy/Johnson: Outside Tate: Slot Teams cannot cover Welker in the slot and he does not have half the athletic ability as a Golden Tate. I'm not saying this is going to happen but if the opportunity presents itself do we take it? -
What if the Bills were able to pull this off in next months draft. With the 9th overall Clausen falls to us, and at the 41st pick his teammate Golden Tate is there. Do we pull the trigger? There is no doubt that probably one of these or both of the picks will go to tackle or defensive line, but this duo was literally unstoppable in South Bend. Even when Micheal Floyd was out with a broken collarbone, every person in the stands new Clausen was going to Tate over and over, yet they could not be stopped. This chemistry would immediately show at the NFL level because both played in Weiss's pro-style offense. I think we would be looking at a Kelly/Reed connection once again, and big play potential. The running game is there for at least the next 2-3 years with Jackson (and probably Lynch). So Spillar as great as he might be, is not the pick at #9. RB's are a dime-a-dozen. Lets not waste it again. Just watch Jimmy Clausen's highlight tape, it mine as well have been Golden Tate's too. Your Thoughts.

All these DE/LB prospects have signed, yet we still seem light years away from signing our pick Maybin? Is his agent that big of a tool, or is our front office just dropping the ball with this one. Erik Flowers held out for awhile when he came in the system...we all know how that worked out. For a player who supposedly is the man talking in the huddle during OTA's; you'd think he'd be pressing his agent to get this done. Your thoughts....

The fact is after today we could potentially have a totally different look at the rest of the season. Here are some BIG games that with some losses from key teams, the Bills could be looking pretty decent. This is all basing on the fact that the Bills can possibly lose 1 more game, if any. PHI @ BAL - NFC team knocking off a AFC Wild Card Contender NYJ @ TEN - Puts us 1 win away from the division lead (this is with us evening the series in DEC) NE @ MIA - One of these teams will lose, unless McNabb shows up for the tie. OAK @ DEN- Can OAK play tough, as they sometimes do and sneak up on a team a la the Jets?? IND @ SD- Sunday Night game, in SD, LT has a big game and controls the TOP. If a few of these games go our way we could be right in the thick of it, its asking a lot, but hey what do we do as Bills fan...hope for the impossible. I was really looking forward to after our 5-1 start not having to look at these obscure scenarios to have a chance at the playoffs, but well, those days are dead and gone. GO BILLS, take care of business in Kansas City!! Also I got a new throwback authentic Lynch Jersey. New Jersey = New Beginnings??? lets hope.
-
You're right his 4 receptions for 31 yds were simply stunning. Where's the YAC?? Isn't that what he's suppose to do?
-
Well idk about that but if you look at who was blocking on the 3rd and goal on the stretch outside (Hardy), he can't be much worse. But in defense of Hardy, it was a terrible call to begin with, but nonetheless he didn't block one of the 5 guys that Lynched Lynch on that play...(he lost his helmet on the play so I added the ethnic slur )
-
Is it just me or does Steve Johnson seem to do everything that is asked of him. He only has three receptions this year, but correct me if I'm wrong he's only been thrown at three times? In our last preseason game of the year against Detroit the kid had 8 receptions for 74 yds, albeit against second stringers but still. He runs crisp routes, and always comes back to the ball. I think we could potentially have a steal here, but because our coaching staff wants to see Hardy succeed (gotta love the politics of sports) so they rarely give Johnson the opportunity. To tell you the truth I'd love to see him in the slot apposed to say Roscoe Parrish, I know we all wanna see Roscoe just light it up, but lets face it, he's like the Maxim Afinegenov of the Bills, we all see the potential but its just never gonna happen. Steve Johnson has good size at 6-2 and could be a bigger target for a QB (Trent Edwards) that just may need that. Bottom line is I would love to see the coaching staff give Johnson more of a shot to show us what he can do, I mean he's gotta do better than say a Hardy who falls down while running half his routes!

Should the Bills Should Cut a Veteran?
Billsfanfourlife replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea I realize the "cutting the captain" didn't necessarilly work with Crowell, but that's a different type of situation. He went behind the organization's back by opting for surgery, and put himself (who knew he had FA coming up next season) over the team. Really alls Kelsay is guilty of is sucking, and that's cause for termination -
Is it just me or does it seem that no one really has a fear of not playing well on this team? For example look at Miami, truthfully they haven't done all that much in the off season, but now with Bill Parcells in there the players know they best perform or they'll be looking for work elsewhere. Look at a Ted Ginn Jr. or a Jerry Porter, Porter was potentially the worst FA pick up of last season! Or look at the team that dominated us this Sunday and for the whole decade, you don't think that team fears the man underneath the sweater?? Bottom line is Dick Jauron doesn't put the fear into the eyes of his players and they really do not worry about taking a play off or not performing up to their optimal level... A quick solution maybe to cut Chris Kelsay. He makes a ton of money, and he is about as valuable as Copeland Bryan who arguably has made more plays than Kelsay. Also he's a team Captain, this just shows every player on that team that NO ONE is safe. We might not have all that much depth at DE but we get nothing out of that position as it is so mine as well throw Ellis in there and see what he's got, because what's the worse that can happen, go another week with no sacks?? Gosh I hope that doesn't happen. Fact is I'm fishing here, trying to stir the pot, but something needs to happen. Jauron's Diplomatic answers just aren't cutting it anymore and a wave needs to be sent through that locker room, and maybe wake some players up that might being weighed down too much by that weekly pay check..
-
I know its pathetic!!! But this is what it has come to...Why can't I even have and edge on Browns fans...I mine as well take shots from Bengals fans too just for icing on the cake! No the fact is the Bills get no love down here and I try to represent them to the best of my ability and just once I'd like to get the backing from the team itself!!
-
For the love of god I hope the Bills can right the ship on the National stage next week or I'm doomed for another year of torture by Browns fans...Its' bad enough I have to live through their constant love of the Buckeyes, but if there is a god let us get a win next Monday just to spare me from more hardship than I've already endured with this team!!! Some Thoughts: I was at the Seattle game and after that game I was convinced that we were going to have one of the most feared defenses in the NFL. Our defense was tenacious, Stroud played like a man amongst boys, Kawika Mitchell was in the back field before Hasselbeck took a step back...what happened to that style of play?? I know Seattle is not a good team and had some injuries but it was a mental state that Bills seemed to be in that they were going to blitz and reak havoc on the other team. I tell you where this starts, no one fears their position on the team. Dick Jauron steps up at that podium and calmly talks about his team sucks...GET MAD!!! You've lost 4 out of 5!!! Fire your troops up, no one on this team worries about job security. Cut a veteran throw some shock waves through the organization something needs to wake these guys up! A perfect guy to cut would be Chris Kelsay, he's a team captain and he is ineffective each and every game, Copeland Bryan is the only DE I see making plays, well i think Denney knocked some passes down solely because he's 6 7" not because he's talented. Kelsay makes way too much money and it would show no ones safe. I realize that because Schobels hurt maybe this might not be the best time to loose depth at the DE position but what do we have to loose, quarterback pressure??? Because we don't have any resemblance of that now! What bothers me the most is that this team showed up in New England expecting to loose to a BRADY-Less team...and that is just unacceptable. I love Ralph Wilson but in his older state he just doesn't demand enough of his employees, like a Jerry Jones or Robert Craft. The Patriots lost the league MVP in the first quarter of the year and there was no "well we mine as well pack it in" no they kept on going. Why can't we learn from a team that we play 2 times a year!!!! Sam Aiken even hurt us today!!! GOD!!! I'm depressing myself as i hit these keys more and more! Go Bills and get a Win Monday, turn this thing around its not too late...

The "Official" Bills Gameday thread!!
Billsfanfourlife replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't take much more of this...We're running the ball great after that fumble and we go to pass and boom. SACK. this is just terrible...how did this team fall off the earth like they have??? After today we'll be last in the AFC East...unbelievable I was at the San Diego game and I really thought that was our "statement game." If jauron comes out and talks all diplomatic after this game fire his a$$. Get Mad! Your season is fading faster than our economy...fire your players up cause nothing is working right now... -
Cut Robert Royal
Billsfanfourlife replied to 2020 Our Year For Sure's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
God can this guy mess up in big time situations any more?? He can't get his feet in the end zone against the Titans a few years back, he really put the nail in the coffin against the Cardinals with a fumble, and now today he fumbles after we pick up a 3rd and 19...wow, is there no one better out there? Idk how Trent has confidence throwing to him because its literally like waiting for a disaster to happen.... -
That's what I thought because I know that I've been watching a game and the Quarterback gets hit and its roughing the passer and even though the ball was intercepted the ball is awarded back to the offense. And I realize on a fumble that the ball is "fair game," but when the ball is in the air its also up for grabs? Maybe we need Ed Hochuli to respond to this post because he is an expert on all NFL rules, especially when to award fumbles.
-
I'm not exactly positive on how this call works but Reggie Hayward jumped in the air towards Trent Edwards 1/2 second later the fumble is forced, while Hayward is still in the air, then Hayward's Helmet goes directly into Trent's Face mask (unabated to the quarter back or something?)....like I said idk how it works if Trent lost possession but if he was in the air before the fumble should it be counted as a blow to the head and the Bills be awarded a 15 yd personal foul penalty and receive that ball back? Just a question that could possibly be answered by a more NFL Rules knowledgeable person. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80acb481 <----Here's a link to the highlights and about 2:30 into the highlight you can see a good view of the play. GO BILLS!!!

I'm not ready to hit the panic button just yet but for a CB who was suppose to have shut-down capability, Leodis McKelvin that is, he looks lost. Last night wasn't the first time he's been burned for a big gain/TD and I'm guessing its not going to be the last. Whereas Reggie Corner added to his already strong camp by getting another INT. Yes McKelvin is dynamite on Returns, and that was one reason we went after him, but in the end he is suppose to be starting at CB this season, he was suppose to be that good! Now I see him behind McGee, Greer, Youbouty, Corner, then McKelvin, and probably Will James follows Leodis, who most likely will not be part of the opening day roster. He has a lot to learn, and if he learns as good as he speaks words (which is not impressive to say the least) we can start the questioning of drafting a Special Team's player with such a high draft pick............\ I hope Youbouty has finally turned into the player we thought he was going to be 3 years ago, as then we would have one of the best pass defenses in the league. He did get burned on Santonio Holmes deep route 2 weeks ago, but Holmes is probably going to do that to a lot of quality DB's this season. Your thoughts people.

Why is McKelvin not returning punts?

This says a lot when the other three teams in your division drafted in the top 10, not to mention one of those teams possessed the #1 pick! http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...35&n8pe6c=2 I know a lot of people are knocking on Hardy, but is there another WR in this draft that was more Pro Ready then he is? He's a guy that come in and make an immediate impact. He doesn't have the pressure of being the #1 guy, and that's going to help his psyche and his overall production. I'll tell you what, we'll see ya Dwayne Wright. Buffalo obviously does not have much faith in him when they drafted Xavier Omon. I almost feel bad that we drafted this guy because we have Marshawn and Freddy sitting in front of him. I've never seen a player with more highlight tapes of him on youtube, I mean i guess his whole career was a highlight tape! This video is from a game where they played Gran Valley state and anyone who knows anything about Division II football Gran Valley is as close to the big time as you can get. Who says this kid doesn't have the speed to play in the NFL? I like Chris Ellis a lot, the biggest knock on him is that he doesn't possess much discipline. What a better team to come to then Buffalo where behavior that lacks discipline will not be tolerated. I see this guy coming in and providing excitement on passing downs as you know he's gunning for the QB Chris Kelsay best start playing up to the level his salary dictates or he could potentially fall to #3 on the depth chart if this guy embraces his talent. (And we all know where we got another DE from Virginia Tech, I think his name was Bruce Smith?? Ehhh he turned out all right) I give this draft a solid A as Draft experts never give the Bills solid draft grades, but each and every year analysts are like, "Well maybe they did know what they were doing on draft day!" GO BILLS!
-
Ok, so I look at Realfootball365.com's latest mock draft and they have us taking Desean Jackson with the #11 pick. And first I was like wow they know nothing about our team. But then after a little bit of thought, if we did draft him we would have incredible speed on the outside I mean we would have no height in the red zone but who needs the red zone when you can score from 70 yards away. Then in the Slot we have Parrish who can make any one miss (and hopefully they do miss because if that man ever gets caught clean, oh god). What would a defense do to stop that? We could literally be uncoverable, with defenses never knowing where we're going to strike next. Also not to mention he's an electrifying kick returner and could take on the KR duties so we can save McGee from that responsibility. I'm not saying I see the Bills taking Jackson as supposibly he's a "me" first kind of guy, but wow, what an explosive player he is and with two burners on the outside I would not want to face us as a D-coordinator. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPfEkWSEhcY Literally watching this highlight tape blows my mind how ridiculously fast this man is. At the combine they clocked as a 4.35, but supposedly in November of '06 he ran a 4.29 and that my fellow Bills fans is faster than fast.
