Kelsey won't make $8mm during the rest of his contract. I'm pretty sure he isn't due a bonus and his base salaries are less than $4mm each year. I understand that he isn't a great pass rusher and he's not vry well liked by most, but you don't cut a guy because he is overpaid and not save any money on him. The bonuses have all been paid and unless he can't beat out Copeland Bryant or Ellis, which he can, he should still be on the team. I'm not trying to cut a guy and replace him with some one worse.

Bills meet with CB Vontae Davis?...... Really?

I don't know about you guys, but I !@#$in love defensive backs! -
I think he was a better fit than Ellison, but I also think that the FO and coaching staff for whatever reason didn't want to re-sign him at all this offseason, so the idea of carrying him on the roster for best case 4 weeks and worst case 8 weeks while injured didn't appeal to them. I like AC, but I don't think he was special enough to cry over him leaving. The only thing - and main reason I liked him - was that he had size, which no other LB on the team has. He played better in Gregg Williams' defense anyways.

Who? I don't think there was a SLB on the market at all this year! -
I think I'd be OK with that.
-
Wouldn't that be a concern when signing him to a long-term deal as well? What if the injury really is the reason he didn't do well last year? Do we want to make a possibly injury prone LT the highest paid in the league? I think a lot of time the idea of giving a guy a contract that makes him the hgihest paid player at his position is that at one time you got real alue for his services, so it's easy to make that call - it shows a commitment to a player that shows commitment to the team. In this case, when have the Bills ever really gotten a discount on him? Everytime he had a jump in production or the team started to rely on him more, he got a new contract. Now he wants another. I'd love the Bills to sign him, especially if he is not hurt, will come in in the offseason to work and learn, and not pull this crap again. Not sure that I feel very good about any of those things being the case.

Ok let's roll, I want to talk some football.

In all fairness to Watson, I think he was more of a punt-catcher than returner. I know I'm in the minority on what I'm about to say here, but I actually liked Watson - not necessarily from what he did on the field, but I always thought of him as an underdog, who hustled. Too bad he sucked at football. -
I think this deal was implied by the FO last year when they traded for him. They tested him out for a year and he worked, so keep him here for a while. This is smart business to me. They've been doing a good job the past two offseasons with these extensions (read: not talking about Kelsey and Denney who were re-signed). Remember every DT that got traded last offseason got a new deal except him. These re-signs set precedent (Butler, Williams, Evans last year) that if you come to work and appear that you have the teams interests first, they will pay you. I think it has to be somewhat of a veiled message to Peters that he should be in Buffalo at least during OTAs and certainly not hold out. And before nayone brings this up, I do not think Jackson fits into this catagory, since he was only tendered an ERFA deal and cannot sign with anyone else. I have full confidence that when the more pressing items come to pass they will lock up Jackson for a few years at least.
-
Isn't he an ERFA? Meaning he can't negotiate with anyone besides the Bills? He can't play for another team next year unless we trade him there. He's kinda SOL. I think Ryan Grant had the same issue last year and held out from the Packers' camp.

Who the Bills Take in Round One...
SuperKillerRobots replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to think they would take the DE first because it seemed like we could get good value there with someone the FO liked. I'm beginning to think that the #11 pick looks less like somewhere we want to be and really hope they can find a way to get into the 18 to 23 range. I knwo they need pass rush help, but they also need a starting SLB (which I think trumps the DE in rd 1). I think they should find a way to have it make sense that they take Clay Matthews somewhere, somehow. He can play the run and rush the passer - imagine if teams didn't know which LB was coming on a blitz. -
I rather have you be useless for another board.

You want Michael Vick?

I agree. F- him! -
Why? I don't get how anyone on this board can rate the guys performance at all. The guy went to school and played two sports. Has been a part of a major sports franchise since 1997. Won accolades ever since he has been in the league. He has also had the chance to learn what seems to be a good majority of the operations - both personnel and team management - and seems to get good reviews from everyone who talks about him. He wants to learn and must be doing something right if he has been around this long. Who the hell is sitting in the room with him and the rest of the inner circle and 1. knows his opinions from those of the other people there and 2. can then judge his opinions as good or bad? Also, what has he done so far to make it seem like he is incompetent or a joke? He doesn't come off as an idiot. He hasn't done anything that was really terrible. It looks like he might even have made some good moves. What the hell?

What to expect BILLS vs PATRIOTS
SuperKillerRobots replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it'll be like the first Bills/Pats game of the Jauran era: close with a major injury (here's hoping it isn't to a Bills player). 1. low scoring (under 45 total points) 2. Jackson gets to at least 130 total rushing/receiving 3. Springs gets hurt for the year 4. McKelvin gets a pick 5. game decided by 4 points or less -

It's sh------- cause it's true. I have a few cop stories myself that really would make you scratch your head and wonder if we let the right people carry guns to protect us. I think that the job attracts a certain type of person to it - those that want to feel empowered, but can't do it in an intellectual way. Maybe those types of people really are the best cops, but they need to be trained better for those situations and be better funded as a whole. Personally I think the training would suffice. -

Based on no actual evidence, but just a gut feeling, I don't think we'll know anything about the kid until the 2010 season. He just feels like a late bloomer. He obviously has the skill set to contribute - not saying he's a future HOFer - and it looks like the work ethic is there. The problem I see is that he was so raw and then got hurt early on - I wouldn't be surprised if heis biggest issue now and in the future was confidence. Hopefully he can learn something from TO. -

It absolutely is a violation of anti-trust laws. Unfortunately it is up to Congress to take action, since the NFL has an exemption from those laws at the present time.
