Do you think [Fill in the Blank] will make the team?
SuperKillerRobots replied to damj's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No reason to get mean, lots of fans like players or teams because they are underdogs and it would make for a great story for them to make it. They all don't, but that's what makes rooting for them so fun - when you actually get a guy who makes the team a la Jabari Greer or maybe even Steve Johnson. It's almost the same reason that I throw $20 on roulette when I'm at the casino - every once in a while I win and get to hit the strip clubs afterwards. -
Assumption is the mother of all fukkup. I agree about mean guys up front though.

Ravens could dump Willis McGahee
SuperKillerRobots replied to TOintheBLO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I respect Newsome and all, but let's acknowledge the elephant in the room and start talking about his success drafting offensive players. You have three listed there plus Chester Taylor that were good picks. You have to think that the Ravens fans would be just as frustrated as Bills fans because of how poorly the offense does. Even last year they weren't that great on offense. With a top 5 defense all you need is a competant offense, which they haven't been able to field in the past ten years. The guy knows defense, but they have been terrible on offense. This was the guy that decided McNair still had something in the tank too. -
Why is Levitre starting with 1st team
SuperKillerRobots replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I agree with what you're saying, I think they have to let the whole thing play out if true. I seriously doubt he was arrested since that would have been big news and publicized. If anything else, I guess I don't really care. Maybe he Whitnered someone and was within his legal rights. -
Will the K-Gun Offense Work This Time Around?
SuperKillerRobots replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You hit the strategy nail on the head I think. If they try to run no-huddle as the base offense, they're screwed. It has to be used sparingly until the game gets going - something like two to four series in the first half. Then they need to be careful using it in the second half - especially late - because you don't want to lose the TOP. If you can get a lead in the first, no reason to use it in the second half - outside of maybe once. The other thing that would work would be to use it sparingly during a series. Maybe come out, run the ball, throw a pass, hurry to the line and run, then let the clock go, etc. The unpredictability of when you use it is just as important strategically as usingg it all the time. Look at what the Colts do. -
Bills new stadium
SuperKillerRobots replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's great. I don't think they could get the pieces of concrete on the skyway. -
So does this actually mean anything? The Bills didn't roll over their cap savings from the previous year - was that to make sure they were able to get over the floor this year? Was it because they didn't feel like filling out the paperwork? It would be interesting to know why teams didn't roll that cap space over, especially since the Bills weren't the only ones. I think the salary cap management has no basis in reality at this point since it has been well-documented that almost no teams actually spend to the cap. Maybe this has something to do with cash-to-cap?

Pats* Think McKelvin Was Weakspot
SuperKillerRobots replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heath Evans' comment is pretty telling about what the BB thinks about our coching staff's ability to change the plan mid-game (something we all picked up on a while ago). It's like their idea of hwo tobeat the Bills is to come up with a new game plan that we can't plan for the week before the game and then force us to make adjustments (which they know we can't do or at least can't do effectively). On the flip side, this is something I've always thought would be good for us to do against the Pats* - come at them with something they don't expect, make them adjust, and then start switching to keep them off balance. For instance, if they came out on Monday night in the no-huddle (a la the K-Gun - 3 and 4 wide sets) for the first half. After halftime, come out in 3 tightend sets and ram the ball down their throat. Go back to the no-huddle for a series here there in the 2nd half as well, just to keep them off-balance. You could use the same idea on defense and really just try to throw them off. Basically what Miami did with the Wild Cat in the first game against them last year. -
Interesting tid bit per John Murphy (not confirmed)
SuperKillerRobots replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's so much pinning your hopes on one guy. First of all, this is only one position and it's only a two-down defensive position. I think the hope comes from knowing you have four guys - two of which are pretty much unknowns at this point - competing for a spot. Hopefully the competition makes them all better and this becomes a source of good depth for the team. I like the idea of having a few guys fight it out and see who comes out on top. On another note, I remember getting the Brad Butler feeling with Bowen last offseason - they seemed hell-bent on putting him in the starting lineup (Butler was hurt all training camp his second year and played in only the last preseason game, but started the season). I'll bet the coaches look at him with a little more hesitation now that he is coming off injury, but I would have to think they'd consider him as much as Ellison, Thomas, or Harris. -

I'm bored - 53 man roster
SuperKillerRobots replied to Tsaikotic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep getting 55 players on this roster. I look at numbers all day though, so I might just be losing it. The two extra players who get cut - to bring your roster down to 53, have to be Costanzo and Simpson. Simpson doesn't play special teams and Costanzo isn't going to be as good as Bowen/Ellison/Harris will be on special teams. In addition to those, I might also swap in Schouman for someone. The only way another o-lineman gets on the team is if someone (D. Bell probaby) can beat out Chambers for the swing role, so they have room. Maybe McKinney goes? -
How good would we be if......
SuperKillerRobots replied to janick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the more interesting question would be, if DJ were coaching the Pats* this year, would they be favored? -
I can't come close to topping that one. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a, select, start.

Knowing how the draft shook out.
SuperKillerRobots replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would rather have Wood than Oher personally. If we could have gotten both of them and Maybin then maybe the 21st would have been better, but what if the Pats* took Wood? Everyone here would be pissed at how crappy our o-line was in the middle. We had two good tackles last year and it got us nowhere. Maybe having some good interior linemen will help us out this year. Of course the wild card in all of this is Byrd. If he becomes a starter in his second year, then there is no way I would change this draft. -
So you live next door?

Currently 16 DBs On Roster/Depth Chart
SuperKillerRobots replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, would you have felt better if we had drafted that tackle - Joel Bell in the 7th or 6th round and then signed a DB as an undrafted FA? In all probability neither of the two guys we drafted are going to make the team. The only reason they drafted them is because they liked them and knew if they had a choice to sign after the draft, they wouldn't sign with us because we have so many already. The team gets an up close looka t two players they liked and I think you'd have a hard time trying to tell me that there is a real difference between an undrafted guy and a 6th or 7th round pick. this is what happens when you start to have a team with decent depth: your latter round choices are going to the practice squad. It's a good thing. To answer your question though, the following will make the team: McKelvin McGee Corner Youboty Florence Whitner Scott Byrd Wilson Wendling Simpson/Lankster/Harris/7th wide receiver -
It just goes to show you that a year after the draft most people could give a rat's ass whether someone was considered a reach or not. All that matters is if the guy looks like he can play. It also supports the notion that none of us on this board know what we're talking about and really don't have a right to second-guess the professionals that do this for a living. Not that I'm trying to get everyone to stop ripping the team (I think we all should - it'll keep them honest at least), but at the end of the day you have to give them the benefit of the doubt because they do this as a job.

This article is just rediculous
SuperKillerRobots replied to basskik11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, you make Buffalo sound like Amsterdam! And you live in Georgia? A buddy of mine moved down there (to Atlanta) halfway through college and in the last 6 years he's been arrested over 10 times and is still trying to kick the meth habit. I think the people here are generally nice and real. People call this a blue collar town more due to all of the blue collar jobs that this area is traditionally known for (obviously on the decline now). -
can't we just IR Hardy for 2009?

That's what I was thinking. They can always IR him if he is not recovered after the PUP time is up too. -
