Not actually Astro today as he wasn’t able to get a ticket for TC today. Astro’s friend, Joe, filled in nicely today with a good TC report:

Thanks Astro!

Thanks for the camp report! Much appreciated from an out-of-state Bills fan.
Hoping to see improvements on offense (outside of Allen and Diggs) this season. Liked the early reports from the new WR’s and Kincaid.

Yup, I'm in the DC area and while the joy here is palpable, they still have a lot of problems.
Same here. I’m sure the new owners will try to improve the game day experience for the fans immediately, but the on field product is going to take a while. I don’t expect to see any real personnel changes until the offseason.

sounds about right. Wrong person saw his tag one day and it got back to Danny.
I’d shake that man’s hand right now if I could.
fail that hard and still turn a tidy 700% profit. Must be nice. Ah well today is still a good day.I’m sure the NFL and the 31 owners were happy to get rid of Synder, no matter the cost of the team sale.

Synder will have to pay the NFL $60M for their investigation. Considering this clown is getting $6.05B, it will be pocket change. 😡
-
And people thought the Pegula’s overpaid for the Bills at $1.4B.

Disappointed the Bills spent $9M bringing in another DE [Leonard Floyd] instead of using that money to try and bring in Hopkins. The amount of assets this team has spent on the D-line since McDermott/Beane took over has been ridiculous!
Don’t blame Hopkins for taking the money considering all the wear and tear football players put their bodies through.

Article is part of ESPN+ https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/37892244/2023-season-roster-rankings-starting-lineups-all-32-nfl-teams
1. Chiefs
2. Eagles
3. Buffalo Bills
Strongest unit: Safety. Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer have been nothing short of elite since teaming up in Buffalo in 2017. Both are 32 years old and missed substantial time in 2022, so perhaps a slip in play could be in store. But Buffalo will have a healthy Damar Hamlin and newcomer Taylor Rapp (who played 90% of the Rams' defensive snaps in 2022) as quality depth. -- Clay
Weakest unit: Wide receiver depth. Stefon Diggs is elite, but No. 2 WR Gabe Davis was limited to a situational deep-threat role for most of 2022. Davis is back, but Cole Beasley, Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder are gone and will be "replaced" by journeymen Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield and Day 3 fliers Khalil Shakir and Justin Shorter. Buffalo will need a big rookie season from versatile tight end Dalton Kincaid. -- Clay
X factor for 2023: Safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. Two years ago they fueled the league's best defense, but in 2022 they combined for just 14 games played. Both are up in there in age, but do they have one more strong season left in them? -- Walder
Nonstarter to know: WR Deonte Harty. In 2021, Harty was efficient with a 30% target rate and a 2.9 yards per route run that trailed only those of Cooper Kupp, Deebo Samuel and Davante Adams. Injuries limited him in 2022, but those numbers still have me intrigued. -- Walder
4. Dolphins
Glad to see others feel the same way I do about the depth at WR.

How many "reasons" are we going to hear for Diggs' unhappiness? It sounds like every other day some person is dreaming of a new one. So far, here are a few
- he and Allen had a fight the day before the Bengals game cos of some girl. Their relationship has soured since then
- he is just frustrated cos he "just wants to win"
- he is frustrated at the lack of targets and wants to get the ball more
- he is annoyed at Dorsey's schemes and will be even more unhappy if it changes to a "structured" passing attack
- we are not landing Hopkins
Did i miss any other conjecture?
Diggs is frustrated because they don’t have crab cakes and Old Bay seasoning at Highmark Stadium.

The moment we traded our 1st rounder for Diggs my attention immediately turned to "Now is there a way we can snag Brandon Aiyuk too?" Here we are 3 years later and nothing of substance at this pivotal position. Go ahead and spin it but I think this is laughably poor management of a modern football team.
Thank you! I agree 100% The Bills have been needing a legitimate #2 WR for years. They’ve tried with Gabe Davis last year, but he underperformed and was inconsistent.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who wanted an upgrade at the #2 WR position.

At this point, I’m leaning more towards a Marty Schottenheimer comparison.

You could tell Diggs was upset multiple times during the season last year. IMO, he’s probably PO’d at the lack WR’s complimenting him and he’s tired of trying to carry this offense on his back. The Bills brought in lower end WR’s and drafted a TE, that’s nowhere near enough to take the pressure off of the double coverage Diggs constantly faces.

Good enough, but who would that guy be?

The Cold Hard Fiscal Facts seem to be that once you're paying a QB, a top WR, and a couple top OLman, you probably don't have the cap $$ to splurge on top talent in FA.
It might be worth noting that as a FA signing for 1 yr/$6M, Sanders played 14 reg. season games and contributed 44.7 ypg, 5 targets and 3 receptions a game (58.3%). He had a high Y/R of 14.9 and 3 drops (4.2%).
Gabe Davis played 15 reg season games and contributed 55.7 ypg, 6 targets and 3 receptions a game (51.6%). He had an even higher Y/R of 17.4 and 9 drops (9.7%). Obviously the drops are very concerning, but I don't think the low catch % was entirely on Davis
And looked at as ROI, I'm not sure we got our money's worth for $6M from Sanders.
I've said elsewhere that I'm skeptical about our 2nd biggest FA splurge, Deonte Harty, being a good use of money.Anyway have a look, I'm not sold on our signing of Deonte Harty, but I'm also not sold on the ROI per investment for a bunch of those FA. Who would you consider a good ROI and a better option at #2?
Your last line though puzzles me. Last season, the Chiefs top receiver was a TE - Kelce of course. Who are the Chiefs "three good WR"? Tiktok Boy is decent. MVS has always been a bit of a disappointment IMHO. Who's the 3rd? And do you really see TikTok Boy as an $8M step-up on Davis?
"The Cold Hard Fiscal Facts seem to be that once you're paying a QB, a top WR, and a couple top OLman, you probably don't have the cap $$ to splurge on top talent in FA." Yet the Bills just spent $7M on Leonard Floyd. How much capital have the Bills spent on the D-line over the years, only for it to falter in the playoffs? 1st Rounders: Oliver, Rousseau; 2nd Rounders: Basham, Epeneza; FA's: Miller, Phillips, Lawson, Settle, Jones, etc.
This is very accurate about Gabe Davis from Patrick Peterson ""I was on Gabe Davis, and I could show you in my notes the routes that Gabe Davis runs: posts, digs, slants occasionally." Vikings' Patrick Peterson called his game-winning OT interception of Josh Allen: 'I am going to go pick this' - CBSSports.com. As a #2 WR, you have to be able to run all the routes in the route tree, Davis can only run three routes effectively. When your #1 WR is being taken out of the game due to double coverage, your #2 WR has to step up and make plays. In the Bengals playoff game, the Bengals double covered Diggs and limited to 4 catches for 35 yards, while Gabe Davis had 2 catches for 34 yards.

You forgot to mention Davis was our best receiver the last 2 playoffs. Remember the nickname “Big game Gabe”. He’s in his contract year and he’ll be better this season. You also have diminished Kincaid’s rating as the best TE in the draft, with the best hands. Shakir looked great at the end of the year and the Dolphins were crushed when Sherfield bolted. Hill’s comments were telling. His #s were great as 4th receiver getting scraps on a team with Hill and Waddle. Look for Knox and Kincaid to be major safety valve contributors with underneath crossers. I also see Hines lining up in the slot. Everyone not named Miami would love our receiver room.
"Big Game Gabe" had 2 receptions for 34 yards against the Bengals in the playoffs last year.
Betting on a rookie to make an immediate impact is always very risky!

Last year's Chiefs team was better than what they putting out there this season. As they lost of an above average LT, a good slot WR and pass rushing DE and not sure they brought in equal talent back.
The Chiefs won two Superbowls in four years, plus the Bengals whooped the Bills 27-10 in the playoffs. Bills also haven’t been able to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Just stating the facts.

Outside of Kelce the Chiefs WRs are not all that great. Toney might be good but Skyy Mooore was a bit of a disappointment as a rookie and I can't tell you who they signed to replace JuJu, I know they drafted a kid but as we saw with Skyy last year, rookies struggle.
You make it sound like the Chiefs didn’t win the Superbowl last season.

Well, it's fine to be skeptical - I have my own skepticism - but what would you have preferred them to do?
Brought in a WR to battle it out for the #2 WR position, preferably a Veteran WR, someone that can run a full route tree (similar to how the Bills brought in Emmanuel Sanders). I’m still crossing my fingers the Bills can land Hopkins, but that’s on Hopkins and how much he’s willing to play for.
Successful offenses have at least three good WR’s (Chiefs, Bengals come to mind). Enough of wasting all this capital (Draft picks or Free Agency) on the D-line!!!

There’s a reason why Shakir dropped to the 5th round of the draft. The high expectations around him by fans have been ridiculous!
