  1. Of all the ways to go, this is one he probably never thought of.... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/07/15/newser-cow-kills-man/2517321/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+usatoday-NewsTopStories+%28News+-+Top+Stories%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher
  2. My wife put the upcoming season in perspective for me: I was cheering John McCain's announcement that he was going to war against the NFL's blackout rule when she grounded me by saying, "So you actually want to watch the Bills screw up on TV more often?" With that, and after a giant step backward toward reality, I've lapsed into the traditional wait-and-see stance that has characterized the past decade plus. Probably see the same old cycle of promises, take my money and my heart, then slam me to the turf of mediocrity once again.
  3. Don't settle for a canned program if you decide to go ahead w/ a degree program. Identify skills, needs, etc. in your current field of endeavor; identify educational opportunities for attaining those skills, needs, etc, then approach your employer with a plan to acquire the skills and experiences with their financial assistance. Canned graduate programs may just be too generic (and therefore boring as can be) and thus not be as applicable as you'd like.
  4. Is there such a thing as "...just sex"?
  5. Is there any truth to the rumor that NYC may soon feature the makings of a dinky administration?
  6. "Pedestrians told police they could see the couple." Now there's a double entendre if there ever was one....
  7. So the rap on FOX news is that it's slanted, so don't watch it...just watch MSNBC, CNN, et. al. Because if you think FOX is slanted toward the conservative point of view, you can be secure in your knowledge that the other (lesser watched) news channels provide coverage of the entire spectrum of news. Well, maybe not so much.... In any event, keep railing against FOX because no one deserves to hear both (all) sides of an issue. Enjoy the MSNBC tunnel vision of the 21st Century.
  8. Old Jewish guys heads at the Wailing Wall...?
  9. The Egyptians have the right idea: Throw the bastards out 'til you get one that listens to those who put him/her in power. Hmmm, I wonder if that idea would find traction across the pond?
  10. As that other great 20th Century philosopher, Aretha Franklin, said, "Who's zoomin' who?"
  11. Crap, I thought the title said, "President Obama's weak."
  12. http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/06/30/19221056-obama-announces-african-electricity-initiative-reflects-on-mandela?lite The tens of millions of dollars spent to finance the current Obama family trip to Africa would have gone a long way to assist in electrifying some areas of Africa. Of course that would'n fit POTUS' get-out-of-Dodge mentality given the context of the current spate of scandals in DC. Shocking!
  13. Father of the Bride advice: Smile, hang on to your checkbook.
  14. The new question: "How can you support Obamacare, and Obama Immigration, at the same time?" Simple: Just plan to raise taxes that much more.
  15. As I moved along the public education career ladder from high school teacher to Superintendent of Schools I had occasion to move too many times. The impact mill speaks of could be uprooting family from schools, church and other relationships to the extent that when they are on their own later in life they don't actually have a "home town" to relate to as is the case with many families. Friends, familiar places, etc. are lost by moving from town to town/job to job.
  16. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/28/us-park-police-lost-track-huge-supply-weapons-report-says/ Is there any federal agency that has its "ducks in a row?"
  17. Not at all; your point is just that, as mine is mine. If the twain never meet, so be it.
  18. Any truth to the rumor that Hernandez is a graduate of the Ray Lewis School of Mayhem?
  19. Freedom isn't an absolute; step over the line, exhaust your due process, and at that point government has the obligation to protect the majority of the nation.
  20. I'm old and tired, but I'm thinkin' my vote goes to the young woman...if I had two votes, I'd vote for each boob separately even though it is always a mistake to break up a set.
  21. The real story is the person she killed years ago. Capital punishment is the ultimate deterrant: No executed prisoner has ever committed a murder after the execution. To me, the refinement of DNA is a strong impetus for the death penalty. DNA evidence enables the state to be even more confident that the right person is being executed.
