  1. Oh, well, if I had known that those who dislike him from jump weren't entitled to voice an opinion, I'd have saved my ink...er, bits, keystrokes. Why is it that the things you've stripped away are the things you obviously don't want to consider as shortcomings? If BHO "dislikers" are blind to the things he's done, could it be that the BHO "likers" are blind to the things he hasn't done? Well, I guess we all know the answer to that one, eh?
  2. A wise, brave leader would have anticipated the range of scenarios he would be facing in Syria some twelve to eighteen months ago, if not earlier. Given the scenarios, he (she) would have developed a series of responses ranging from unilateral to multination actions. These actions would consist of diplomatic, stand-off alternatives (e.g., blockade--financial or more aggressive) and actual military alternatives. While developing these responses and scenarios, the wise, brave leader would keep his mouth shut about red lines and other such gauntlet-tossing comments, but WOULD develop ties with like-minded allies. That way, when the balloon went up in Syria to the extent that a response was "needed," There would be something other than dithering about on-off again steps, e.g., The decision is mine; let Congress decide, but I'll do it anyway, etc. The planned for outcome would be Syria and her allies understanding that the possible responses, and the range of allies against her actions, would deter use of chemical weapons. Um...maybe next time....
  3. It appears to me that POTUS has created a very lengthy multiple choice question over the past several months concerning Syria. It some point not too far off, he will choose an "answer" depending on how the breeze is blowing that day. Not exactly statesman-like behavior, but he's our guy, eh?
  4. Contest it. I'd want to know the exact speed at which he was clocked. BUT I'm a contrary bastard and I'd enjoy just having the trooper appear in traffic court, hopefully, off shift.
  5. This pretty much says it for me: POTUS is just in over his head and doesn't yet understand his predicament. http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/04/opinion/castellanos-gop-obama-syria/
  6. i believe at some point POTUS will invoke the "It wasn't terrorist-related; it was work place violence" rationale and just ignore the whole thing.
  7. Russia is moving more warships into the eastern Med and the US is expanding the list of potential targets in Syria. I didn't want BHO answering the telephone at 2:00 AM and I don't want him in the saddle when the Syrian question really heats up.
  8. Since the Administration has lied to us Ad nauseum about a range of matters both foreign and domestic, can we really trust POTUS this time? http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/09/05/obama-soviet-union-roosevelt-syria-nsa-column/2758831/
  9. Or at least the best safety in the league with plantar fascists who isn't playing anywhere....
  10. I tend to base my opinions and comments about the Bills on what the team accomplishes throughout the football season, not on what the coach says at any given time. Therefore, I will probably not "learn from" the coaches comments.
  11. I just hope that, after the first game or two, there isn't a run-for-the-busses mind set among the players. If ever there was a place where "Here we go again!" has a solid footing it's at the Ralph.
  12. If POTUS would (could) just do something...anything. Not necessarily a military move, just come up with a response that serves notice that chemical weapons are unacceptable. Of course, having a range of options from weaponry to diplomacy requires that a great deal of foreign policy groundwork, planning, understanding and cooperation with allies be done long before the options are actually needed. Oh, sorry POTUS, you haven't done anything and are reaping the harvest of having a big mouth loaded with neither efficient nor effective actions in hand.
  13. POTUS said he'd answer the telephone if the Assad regime used chemical weapons in Syria. It appears the 'phone is ringing loud and clear; nations around the world can hear it (although not at the UN). Can BHO lead; can he "answer the telephone" in a crisis; is he a world leader, or a world-class ditherer? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-23875121 Man up, POTUS, tell us what you're going to do, why you're going to do it, then do it. Doesn't have to be military force, just make a decision and carry it out...you know, like a leader would.
  14. What's the big deal? BHO is wearing a President's mask and has been for a number of years...and to carry the comparison further in both instances there is a clown behind the mask.
  15. I say we beat this into the ground for another page or two, then examine Sully's take on the issue....
  16. Now that improved DNA testing and more complete DNA data banks have eliminated most of the "wrongful conviction" errors, I'm full-blown in favor of the death penalty as punishment for murder and several other heinous crimes. Death is a deterrent in that, once dead, chances are the individual will not commit murder again.
  17. ROTFLMAO!! BUMPS, bumps, you say; the Bills have honed the concept of football "bumps" to a fine point. Bumps, the past decade plus has been characterized by "bumps." Don't lecture us about bumps....
  18. Go get 'em! Persevere, but remember Labatts on the weekends.
  19. The ultimate definition of the problem: When Democrats get elected they do dumb stuff.
  20. Shutdowns usually mean progress stops, employees don't accomplish anything; output slows, then stops, etc. Given that these are the current characteristics of our national government, how bad can a more formal shutdown be? http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/23/20155687-obama-gop-threat-to-shut-down-government-not-an-economic-plan?lite Will POTUS draw us another red line, another line in the sand, beyond which he'll take firm decisive action to keep the government productive? Gee, I hope he moves with same swift determination as his response to the situations in Syria, Benghazi, or any number of other mis-steps. What an embarrassment; no wonder Putin slouches and grins when considering relations with the US.
