Worked in public schools for thirty-three years; started as a teacher, ended as Superintendent of Schools. The concept of in loco parentis always seemed to work quite nicely until it was "decided" that reasoning with a child, who has no experience bank from which to make decisions, was the way to go.
Please suggest to me, gatorman, how one reacts to a student who impales a pig on a statue in the school courtyard, lies about it, parents threaten to sue the district, etc.
