  1. Don't want no bully on Pennsylvania Avenue; rather have a full blown kitty..
  2. Gee, what a swell idea! Let's build an entire collection of politically correct responses to the transgressions of America's school children. Then let's put the infraction/response table in the student handbook; then let's have both kids and parents sign a statement of understanding and commitment; then let's have the school districts exchange attorneys' names with all the parents; then let's agree on a hearing process wherein the school and the parent can bargain the child's punishment; then let's....
  3. In the words of that immortal 20th Century philosopher, Aretha Franklin, just Who is Zoomin' Who in the Iraqi debacle? We can't even identify a friend from a foe (much less a date from a nut), but we seem to just keep on keeping' on. Is there any chance that at some point the US government will learn that we just can't take broad stroke actions in regions of the world where we have not a single clue as to historical relationships, tribal alliances or warlord objectives? http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/07/opinion/iraq-anbar-crisis-lister/index.html?eref=edition Oh, by the way, prepare now to vote every elected government official out of office this November.
  4. Warming, cooling, warming, cooling been happening for millions of years. I'm waiting for the definitive science that ties specific man-made causation to the cycle...and waiting...and waiting.
  5. Crap, I thought this was a thread about Chinese history....
  6. Seniors have the "very most bestest" deal under ObamaCare, they are projected to pay up to 25% of their income for health care before subsidies, etc. kick in. Dividing their net income by four seems easy enough, doesn't it? http://news.investors.com/122613-684287-obamacare-middle-class-subsidy-cliff-for-older-americans.htm?ven=googlepicks&src=aurlafw&google_editors_picks=true
  7. POTUS does, however, appear to be the front runner in terms of championing the meaningless gesture. http://www.nbcnews.com/health/obama-signs-health-insurance-dc-website-2D11792136
  8. Twas the night before the night before Christmas; And all through the house, 'rents were scrambling to get hold of the mouse. Mama in her kerchief, and I in my hat were clicking on links as fast as could be; In hopes of insurance for the family and me. On Aetna, on Blue Cross, on Magna and Pru fly swiftly to the website true; We'll sign up and pay up and relax with a sigh, we'll never believe POTUS would lie. ….I'm outta' gas.
  9. As he sows, so shall he reap, or bu!!**** does not a solid foundation make.
  10. Curiouser and curiouser...neighborhood organizer, senator, president, insurance agent. Whatta guy!
  11. To: Keukasmallies From: Keukasmallies Subject: You dumb bastard You vowed some time ago you'd never volley w/ gatorman on any topic ever again; now you've gone and broken that promise. Say two gatorman is a wing nut factoids, my son, and wash your keyboard off with Listerine. Go ye forth never to sin again by responding to the g'man.
  12. This dude just oozes confidence and insurability. Sorry, Rachel....
  13. I have a lot of confidence in EJ's ability. I've seen him do some very good things in terms of game management, reading defenses, play selection, etc. So I know he is capable of performing at a high level. The problem is that he has yet to do these things consistently. Is the lack of consistency something that experience will resolve...I'm not sure about that. He deserves another sixteen games to mature and build his bank of NFL experience upon which to build and refine his skills.
  14. This just in, and addressed to gatorman, corporal punishment includes a continuum of responses, not merely beating a child. For example, restraining a student who decides to walk out of a disciplinary meeting with her parents and me is, strictly speaking, corporal punishment. In this case, i administered this restraint as the parents were wailing they just couldn't do a thing with her...so I took her arm and escorted her back to her chair. My bad...?
  15. Worked in public schools for thirty-three years; started as a teacher, ended as Superintendent of Schools. The concept of in loco parentis always seemed to work quite nicely until it was "decided" that reasoning with a child, who has no experience bank from which to make decisions, was the way to go. Please suggest to me, gatorman, how one reacts to a student who impales a pig on a statue in the school courtyard, lies about it, parents threaten to sue the district, etc.
