  1. And then there's the school of thought that Cuomo's appointments and the formation of a "committee" is just a CYA move for when the Bills are sold and move out of the area. At that point the governmental entities can point with pride at the "committee" and attendant chatter to "prove" they did all they could to keep the Bills in WNY.
  2. I'm intrigued by the "Gender Fluid" category. Ya' think they might be talking about that stuff that....
  3. Don't ya' just hate it when gatorman responds to a thread you posted!
  4. One of, if not the most tragic, outgrowths of the current administration is the ascendancy of Joe "I'm a Buffoon" Biden. To even think that he should be mentioned in the same breath with the word President is just ludicrous. He is so out of it, he's actually floating trial balloons on the subject. http://thelead.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/13/is-joe-biden-ready-for-2016/?hpt=hp_t1 Think of a Biden - Sharpton ticket for just a split second....
  5. So, by now, you've seen it from other news sources. Haven't you learned yet that the absurd is common fare for this administration?
  6. The ACA just keeps getting more and more hilarious. Now employers of mid-size companies must swear that certain staffing decisions were not driven by provisions of the ACA. Firms will be required to certify to the IRS – under penalty of perjury – that ObamaCare was not a motivating factor in their staffing decisions. To avoid ObamaCare costs you must swear that you are not trying to avoid ObamaCare costs. You can duck the law, but only if you promise not to say so. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/02/11/thought-police-firms-must-swear-obamacare-not-factor-in-firings/ Just imagine the IRS on the receiving end of that kind of oath. Geez, next thing you know the IRS will be in charge of the implementation of the ACA. Oh, wait..........
  7. If we knew the address, we could send a sympathy card via Predator Delivery.
  8. I am eligible, however, I have fewer needs than the vast majority of those who served more recently than my service, so I don't claim them out of respect.
  9. Not sure how many (more or fewer) Americans will have health care coverage. It's imminently possible POTUS will delay implementation of one or more mandates if things look tentative, so to project any number is merely speculation. I do believe that many of us who were satisfied with our health care, and the cost thereof, will be paying higher premiums for fewer services. For example, my premiums have increased in each of the past three years. Do you think I'll get some sort of rebate in the future? And, of course, my co-payments have increased as well. Not to worry about that, however, since specialists will be increasingly more difficult to schedule. Thanks Barack, I owe you one.... Spare me your liberal response about supporting "those less fortunate and underserved" as my time in the military as well as a thirty-five year career in public education put paid to a lot of that from my address.
  10. AND take long naps in the afternoon!
  11. The advent of DNA identification procedures appear to have paved the way for more certainty in terms of enforcing the death penalty. The death penalty is a sure-fire deterrent in that it is quite certain that the person executed will never commit murder again.
  12. Aha! So the real underpinnings of the ACA, understood from the git go by POTUS, is to introduce leisure to the hewers of wood and drawers of water! Why didn't someone say so in the first place?
  13. Actually, instead of the word "period" he meant asterisk so he could mark the phrase, then go back to it later and change it to whatever fit at the moment.
  14. I agree w/ DC Tom. Use your energy and focus to provide support and strength for your wife in this most difficult of times. Be strong for her.
  15. O'bama and O'Reilly, just a couple kids from the neighborhood. Barry and Billy, just exchanging views: Billy asking', Barry bobbin' and weavin'. Damn that Fox News for asking for answers to really really hard questions! Poor Barry has shucked and jived so much he prolly thinks Benghazi is a person, not a place.
  16. Fortunately for me, I'm on the outside looking in at this topic. I do appreciate the candor and sharing of information occurring in this thread. I'm especially interested in the comments about the universal desire of addicts to be freed from their addictions, and the impact of rehabilitation efforts.
  17. With the rewiring of the brain that you describe, it seems possible that any number of things could seem "glamorous" to an addict. When one seeks approval for one's actions, seeing the adoration of another addict just might seem transferrable to him/her.
  18. Each time a celebrity suffers a fate similar to PSH, I wonder if somewhere in the outpouring of messages is one that actually "says" to addicts and others that such a fate is glamorous and thus to be copied.
  19. What Bills will do about season ticket prices: Raise them. What will Bills' fans do about season ticket prices: Pay them. Sheep to the slaughter in terms of continuing to pay top $ for substandard product.
  20. I think that engaging in reckless behavior with deadly substances, while possibly in a state of emotional stress, falls within the definition of suicide.
  21. Or, in the context of a long-time partner and their three children, one could call suicide a selfish act.
  22. Is this just another, "I'm sick of taking her crap!" thread?
  23. Dear Circle, I'm 73, been retired for seventeen years. Permit me to make several observations: First, assuming you're not dodging incoming rounds of beer bottles, nor swaying due to a small earthquake, for God sake stand still! Second, I'm keenly aware of the fact that my basic values and views of life today are woefully outdated; therefore, my comments can easily be disregarded by the reader--you. With that caveat firmly in place, permit me to say I admire your hutzpah in standing up there, but the material was lower than a wagon track. Keep your day job, son.
