  1. Crap, I thought this was a thread about the Bills 2014 - 15 season.
  2. Maybe a half hour a day between the two; much more time on PPP, however.... I enjoy making comparisons between the plight of the Bills and the ebb and flow of world politics (Putin - Belichek). Comparing coaches comments with those of politicians is particularly humorous. Think about POTUS saying the things Marrone says and vice versa.
  3. Ammo, the IDF needs ammo? Why not just chuck some punk'ins with gift certificates in them in response to the Hamas rockets...maybe that would be OK w/ the "world community."
  4. So if Hamas uses schools, mosques, other public buildings and tunnels as hiding places for weapon storage and rocket assembly, the humane thing for the Israelis to do is target some wadi in the desert, or perhaps an abandoned car along a deserted road? Yeah, maybe not so much; this is a country protecting itself from invaders, not an application of the Obama Doctrine of line drawing.
  5. Reading this thread reminds me of the post-game comments for Oh so many years: We know what we have to do, we just have to execute. We'll be ready next week, just wait and see. The coach isn't on the field, the players are and we'll get this turned around very soon. Yada, yada, yada....
  6. Crap, I thought this thread was about Argentina, not the US!
  7. Skim the resume, if something piques your interest, call the prospect and arrange to meet her/him anywhere but the workplace. Just talk to the person for thirty minutes, if there is interest in the candidate AS A PERSON, arrange something more formal, if that's required. After all, you're the insider, you know the skill sets and experiences necessary to fill the position successfully. If the candidate doesn't have the intangibles that you'd expect, go on to the next person. Hiring is an art, not a science. Hiring the wrong person is never a mistake, but keeping the wrong person in your employ is always a mistake; so, if the new hire is the "wrong person" fire, counsel out, or otherwise separate him/her from the firm ASAP. Easy Peasy!!
  8. Wait just one minute, posting this tripe can't possibly have a physical effect on your elbow...or is your sports MD a proctologist given you pull most of these posts out of your @$$.
  9. Oh, that kind of flatulence; I was wondering why this was in OTW and not PPP.
  10. Well, there are damn few who can even hint that POTUS' foreign policy isn't consistent. Unfortunately, for the US specifically, and the world in general, it is consistently ineffective. (Ooops, another Russian millionaire added to the Do Not Fly list striking daggers into the heart of Rodina.)
  11. Palestinians, by a wide margin, seek leadership that will stop the attacks on Israel and develop a more secure national presence in the region. http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/gaza-public-rejects-hamas-wants-ceasefire Good luck with that. The majority in the US seek a number of things that apparently aren't on the radar screens of our current leadership. Well, leadership might be too strong a term to use in this context. Living with our current "regime" is like living with a doughty old uncle who veers off the rails at the damnedest times. Lovable to some, frustrating to most.
  12. Former ICE officials describe the no-show aspects of their "responsibilities" on our southern border as they function w/o direction from the current administration. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/383279/obama-gives-ice-cold-shoulder-ryan-lovelace Gee, whoever would have thought that POTUS would ignore a potentially effective tool in the defense of our borders? On the other hand, if ICE officials were trained to staff fund raisers, golf courses, or late night show green rooms, we'd have somethin', eh?
  13. If your wife is 52, you are only 47, not 74. That is the mathematical conversion applicable in this case.
  14. If you took umbrage at Bush's lack of action regarding Georgia, permit me to do the same in today's Ukraine. I don't recall whether or not Bush was fund raising during the Georgia crisis, do you? So, actually, it doesn't work two ways; it works the same way...and I didn't even have to be half blind to see it.
  15. I'm kinda a'scared to admit I'm 74 since I haven't seen any other 70's in this thread so far. No wonder many of you don't agree with my position on the political issues of the day; you simply lack the breadth of skill set and the wealth of life experiences I bring to OBD. And now I'll don my helmet and wait....
  16. Outraged? Not any more; I've witnessed the double speak of this administration so often I see it as an every day occurrence. And it's not the specific issue used to illustrate my point; I understand the economic advantages to corporations. I don't like the concept of if I do it, it's OK; if you do it, it ain't. Or, more specifically, if Democrats do/say it, OK; if Republicans do the same thing - outrage. Admittedly, most administrations appear to change horses in mid-stream on a lot of issues, but many do seek at least the appearance of rationale for the shift. Not this one; POTUS appears to relish flying in the face of the electorate with nary a care. Rolled up sleeves, loosened tie, and late night shuck and jive seem just a bit out of place in the context of economic recession, foreign policy disasters, loss of public confidence, and an immigration policy vacuum. But, hey, that's just me....
  17. SecSt Kerry and UN SecGen Ki-Moon (not a verb) spin wheels in talks that neither represent nor acknowledge the objectives of the combatants. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/07/25/kerry-works-toward-cease-fire-as-deadly-clashes-escalate-in-gaza/ How many cease fires have failed in the Middle East recently? How many at-bats has Derek Jeter had this week? How many...well, you get it. Israel may be just a bit tired of being shelled 24/7, and Israel may just a bit more tired of lame cease fires that don't work. Israel may be even more vexed at diplomats who ride in to save the day, negotiate a weak-at-best agreement, then immediately leave the zip code only to see the rockets red glare before they land at Andrews Air Force Base.
  18. Actually, I should have stopped the sentence at "Does the current administration really think."
  19. POTUS accuses some US companies of "gaming the system" with their financial machinations overseas. http://www.nbcnews.com/business/economy/obama-companies-game-system-not-playing-fair-taxes-n164281 Should that same phrase be applied to POTUS' "I've got a pen and a telephone" tactic of end-running the legislative process? Does the current administration really think the electorate is so stupid as to be unable to carry (and apply) concepts from one issue to the next? Jesus (read Hey-Soos), POTUS is just butt stupid!
  20. POTUS, aka teflon guy, strikes again. Once again the administration blurs the line between enforcing and enacting law by exempting the territories from the ACA. Those lucky bastards! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/24/obamacare-free-getaway-for-5-us-territories/
  21. Love him or hate him, Cheney calls 'em as he sees 'em...you know, kinda like Bozo Joe Biden, POTUS and a whole string of pretenders. If you truly believe that your bozos are better than their bozos, I bow to your ignorance.
  22. TYTT posted this first sentence in a comment about LEO's. "Cops, in general, are not good people. There was a major anonymous psychological profile taken of LEOs across the nation with a massive sample size back in the early 90's. More than 80% profiled as "bullies", while slightly less than 5% profiled as "white knights". I'd have to review the questions, methodology and context before I ever agreed with such a blanket indictment of cops...or of any other group for that matter.
