  1. Damn those Republicans for compromising for the national good! Next shoe to drop is to see if the Dem's who promised to support Republican efforts against POTUS' move to stop deportation of illegal immigrants come through as promised. Or will they take the DHS bill and run...?
  2. So LaBillzFan has responded to your question. Your next post will probably ask for the specific legislation that enables the objectives ticked off above. Please be assured that the actual bill is in the works. I understand the Republicans in the House and Senate have a ten thousand page bill that is extremely complex and may cause many members to simply vote for it w/o actually reading it. The popular name of the bill is very long, so they just refer to it by its initials...ACA. Oh, Oh, does that sound familiar? It is a technique born of the recent passage of legislation, read by few if any legislators, understood by even fewer, etc. Except the Republicans will probably invite debate and publicize its specifics, and hope that members of the opposition party actually come to work on the day the legislation is voted upon. Now that "Hide-the-Bill" Harry Reid is on the outside looking in, there's a good chance the Senate will get a chance to consider whatever comes up for consideration.
  3. No, I'm saying that we're on our way back in, so where is the gain? Back in in terms of "advisors and trainers", equipment, intelligence sharing, etc. In the current administration, "out" doesn't really mean out, does it. POTUS' comments and actions make Bush's, "Mission Accomplished" pale by comparison
  4. That's probably the case, BUT the ACA was sold as a cure-all for the ills of health care insurance in the US of A. Since it appears to have set up a steeper slope rather than smooth out the historical increases, I say again, "What actually went down?" That is, what went down other than the nation's respect for the current administration.
  5. I'll take Columbia,. I know a woman from there.
  6. Your logic train just makes my teeth ache. Your comment just ignores the FACT that specialists are turning down new patients, joining group practices to escape the ACA's red tape pressure on individual office operations, and Oh so many more restrictions that have driven MD's to withdraw and wait out the storm. Go back to your seat until the bell rings, then leave the room quietly!
  7. Aw c'mon now, we all know that POTUS has but few priorities # 1 of which is punishing the Republicans for opening a can of whoop ass last November. After that one, burnishing his already corroded legacy is also on the table. He has no awareness of foreign policy in the international diplomacy sense, but excels at "foreign" policy in that his brand has no foundation of historical importance to the US and consists of a series of one-off gestures that have proven ineffective...see the Iraq withdrawal and his claim that Afghanistan will never again be the point of origin for terrorism. The guy is lame-ducking his way along 'til January, 2017. Don't pressure him by attributing real-life objectives to the remainder of his term.
  8. Health care costs are going up. Premiums are going up. Co-pays are going up. Wait times to see specialists are going up. The level of confusion introduced by the changes that occurred following being promised there wouldn't be changes is going up. The confusion level resulting from the 2014 tax debacle for ACA participants is going up. 'plain to me the "going down" part.....
  9. Yes it is; it's working for every person who never prioritized health insurance in the past because it stood in the way of even cigarettes and beer. Except as they wake up to the fact that their premium share is increasing (going up) while the subsidy share is going down and may even be going away shortly; at which point their priorities will shift once again. It surely ISN'T working for conscientious people who always carried health insurance because they are now paying for their own insurance as well as for those who added health insurance to their WIC payments, free cell phones, fuel oil, etc. Those of us who are paying are paying in actual money (30% premium increase in my case), in deferred payments such as increased co-pays, in confusion caused by shifting plan requirements and absent MD's, etc. Yah, buddy, it sure is working!
  10. How 'bout: We don't get much done, but we enjoy NYC.
  11. Let's hope our government wakes up to the real world before something like the following is needed here. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/02/27/onward-christian-soldiers-us-filmmaker-self-styled-revolutionary-trains/
  12. I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo Limited: Mileage sux, the UConnect technology behind the radio, media, navigation, etc. also sux. I've had three recall notices, only one resolved due to Chrysler not having the parents available to repair the other faults and that sux. Rear window defroster wires not working, so my dealer had to send a picture to Chrysler to get authorization to order a replacement window. Not exactly service-oriented in my view. I've had Jeeps for years, but his may just be my last one.
  13. Very interesting article. Hard to refute the points the author makes given the citations, etc. At every turn POTUS reinforces for me the fact that he's out of touch with main stream America and doesn't (A) realize it; (B) give a damn; C) understand the office of the President; (D) All of the above. I favor choices B and C. He exhibits all the acumen of a nine year old on a school playground when it comes to foreign affairs.
  14. Appears we're doing a whole lot of fiddling while the Middle East burns; and, as with actual fire, winds can cause fire to spread rapidly. Real fire can't jump an ocean, but virtual fire may just do it then express itself as actual fire in the near future.
  15. The Tea Party is a handy whipping boy for whomever chooses to ignore/deny that the present opposition party puts forth solid positions only to be rebuffed by an intransigent administration. The Republicans won the 2014 elections in a landslide and POTUS will make them pay each and every day for the rest of his term. His legacy will be characterized by tunnel vision focused on punishing those he doesn't like, the vast majority of the public who disagree with his "policies."
  16. In the first sentence are you referring to actions like with the pipeline, consequent veto, and now plan to re-send to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave? Again, a leader will take actions to move his detractors along toward compromise. For example, in one of those meetings, POTUS would say something like this, "You know my position, let's look at your position on the issue." and wouldn't take no for an answer. Meeting after meeting until the intransigence of the opposition became the issue for the public. Meetings that take place between real people. not shots across the bow launched from the Jimmy Kimmel show. And once more, don't assume the opposition has no intention of acting upon [fill in the blank]; set meetings, set the agenda, persevere until compromise is reached. It works in business and works in government when a leader chooses to proceed in that manner. List the issues whereupon POTUS has invested time and effort to reach a point of action by working with the opposition, just type them into your next response. (Don't start your list with the ACA 'cause we'll all laugh out of here.) Your problem appears to be that you're stuck in the winner/loser paradigm. In that approach each party loses eventually, but the public loses every time.
  17. And what is the price of gas today? Notice the "direction" of the price changes being applied at the gas pump; they may be going down where you get your gas, but not around here.
  18. http://www.nbcnews.com/watch/nbc-news/obama-to-bush-talk-to-gop-about-immigration-reform-404438595868 Just spitballing here, but wouldn't/doesn't a true leader cut out the middle man and talk with the Republicans himself? Watch the video and see POTUS just gleam when the audience applauds his comments; this "adulation" appears to be the objective for him rather than the hard work of fashioning compromise. Dear Leader, tossing something on the floor and waiting a year for the response you want isn't found anywhere in the lexicon of leadership. Pick up the telephone, make a call, set up a series of meetings and engage in the process leading to a compromise on the issue rather than hurling grenades over the wall. In the long run you denigrate the office of the Presidency plus look petty and ultra-partisan yourself.
  19. Obviously, this is the premise that POTUS brings to all his Presidential endeavors. Or, wait a minute, isn't he the guy who is constantly blowing out the match before anyone actually sees the light...? Hope and Change, Brah. We keep hoping', but he don't do no changin'.
  20. I guess the up side is that after seven years he finally kept a promise.
  21. You must admit, not all of us characterize Iran as cautious and deliberate; but for those who do, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Iran is engaging in a false flag-type approach to wear down some of her enemies while protesting Oh so much. (And, while I have the floor, permit me to share with you that there is nothing I prize more than being labelled stupid by a liberal.)
  22. Gee, what a coincidence that Iran hasn't been "bothered" by ISIS, ISIL, Daesh [choose one, they're the same outfit]. I wonder if that could mean that Iran supports (whichever name you picked)....hmmmm, I wonder.
  23. Most of the libs will do there tiptoe by the graveyard act on this one.
