McShay's seven-round mock
lets_go_bills replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McShay is a joke. Who cares what he thinks. He's wrong. -
I'm curious how a player can be a bust at 9 but a stud if he's drafted later. Doesn't make sense to me.

This signing means nothing. Taylor is not motivated and is rapidly aging and declining. The Jets just overpaid for him and I'm laughing at them. The Tomlinson signing was also a joke. And so what if they added Holmes. He's going to miss four games and will be rusty. Not to mention he's overrated and won't be much of a compliment to the brick-handed Edwards. The Jets are setting the bar high and now have lofty expectations. No one expected them to even make the playoffs last year. They'll have a tougher schedule and won't catch anybody off guard this year. Although they steam-rolled through the playoffs, lets not forget they essentially fell ass-backwards into the playoffs. I think they'll take a few steps back and miss the playoffs. I think Sanchez will experience an interception filled sophmore slump. IMO, the Pats are still tops in the AFC East. But I will agree that we are well behind the rest of the division. But we're young and in rebuilding mode. A legit franchise QB can quickly turn around the fortunes of even the most downtrodden of teams.

I would cry if we took Dez Bryant, Dan Williams or Jason Pierre-Paul at #9.

Is Vinny Cerrato referring to Maybin?
lets_go_bills replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Next time you see him hittin on a broad, ask aloud to him if he's actually going to get a sack this year. He's been quite the disappointment so far. But it is early. As far as attitude goes, if we were 22 year old millionaires we'd be cocky as hell too. Can't really say I blame him. It's hard to be humble in his situation. -

I remember the draft last year well: I was sitting in the Jim Kelly Club section of the Ralph during the draft party. I was drinking my $9 beer, excited because I love the draft. And when our pick rolled around I was a little surprised Orakpo was still on the board. I had heard the Maybin rumors and knew of his high potnetial, but I thought there was no way we could pass on the polished, super-athletic and productive Longhorn known as O-sack-po. Needless to say, I was wrong... and disappointed. Alas, I remain optimistic that Maybin will become a productive sack artist. Stay positive. You have to. We're Bills fans. -
Big Ben-Suspension Imminent + Trade Speculation
lets_go_bills replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear he'll get around 4 games. I think he should be suspended for the year. His off-field conduct is shameful. -
Rank the top Tackles 1-4

Okung, Williams, Bulaga, Davis. -
The trade is weird to me. Eagles are the clear winners here, parting with only a 5th to grab a legit starting OLB. The Lions acquire a good TE but only one year after drafting the draft's top TE last year. The Broncos get a measley 5th for a starting TE. McDaniels may be showing he's "large and in charge" there in Denver but in only one year he's managed to trade away the team's top three offensive players. Dumb move by the Broncos, great move by the Eagles and Lions.

One thing I can guarantee
lets_go_bills replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have so many needs it's hard to predict who we'll pick. It's going to boil down to what the Bills board looks like. We have obvious needs as QB, LT and NT. I'm also bracing myself for us to possibly go RB or OLB in Round 1. Clausen, Bulaga, Davis, Morgan, Spiller. It could be anyone! -
Is Aaron Schobel starting to
lets_go_bills replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Retiring is not an easy decision to make, nor one you should rush to make. That said, Schobel should give his answer to the Bills FO and fans before the draft. A date/timetable should have been set. While not on the same level as Favre, there certainly is a similarity. And I find it annoying. -
If New England offered a 2nd for Lynch?
lets_go_bills replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pass. I don't wanna see Lynch twice a year. He'd run all over us. -
Ted Ginn Jr to 49er's from NFL Network Radio no Link

Meh. Ginn sucks. Frankly, I'm surprised they got anything for him. -
"According to the Washington Post, the "widespread belief" is that the Redskins will trade Jason Campbell for a "low pick" during the draft. The Bills are the obvious fit, especially if they address another position of great need at No. 9 overall. Bruce Gradkowski's torn pectoral muscle could also increase the Raiders' interest. Campbell is at least a league-average starter and is well worth the late-round pick for a franchise without a legit quarterback" There hasn't been any news on the Campbell front lately. Thought this was interesting because they're going to wait til the draft to deal him. All eyes will be on Buffalo at 9 and what direction they go. Take it how you want but it's fun to speculate and read between the lines. Perhaps if Buffalo passes on a QB at 9 they may swing a deal for Campbell. I'd imagine it would be all but a forgone conclusion if Buffalo passes on a QB in both rounds one and two. Time wil tell. Can't wait for Thursday.

I can agree with that in part. But I'd say 90% of the time you need a franchise QB to be a playoff contender. You could also add the '03 Bucs to your list. But those three teams have two key things in common: 1. Good QB who can manage the game and not commit turnovers. 2. Elite, all-time great defenses. The mantra of "defense wins championships" certainly appiles but you must have great QB play. Your question was what will it take to be a playoff contender. Great QBs make the playoffs. But yes, great defenses win championships. Recent Super Bowl winning QBs include: Brees, Manning, Brady, Warner, Elway, Young, Favre, and Aikman. All great, franchise QBs.

eagles looking to trade up?
lets_go_bills replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Eagles are said to love Eric Berry. But Spiller is an option too. The Chiefs will most likely go LT and the Browns might opt for Clausen. If that happens, Berry is likely to still be on the board when we pick and a trade opportunity may very well present itself and there could be a realistic trade down scenario for us which would be fantastic. We have so many needs, we could use a few extra picks. -
Big Ben - Pitt Listening to Offers
lets_go_bills replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as we need a QB, I don't think we'd trade for Big Ben. We would have the same character concerns that Pitt has about him. Apparently, Ben is a jerk and some guys in the locker room do not like him. He's also immature. Why he feels the need to roll out with a goon squad of security to college frat parties is beyond me. He's a party animal and a freaking lightning rod for negative attention. While one could argue this could be a wake up call for him, (and it should be seeing how he narrowly avoided rape charges), and that a change of scenery may serve him well, he's still a risky player to take a chance on. He plays the premier position in sports, makes a lot of money and it would be a high cost to compensate Pitt for his services. He's talented, no doubt, and those two rings stand for something. But Ben has some serious problems and it would be hard to cheer for a morally corrupted individual such as him. But I do believe people can change. Who knows, maybe Dungy can intervene and help him before it's too late and he becomes the next Michael Vick. -
Seems like every AFC East team except us has made splashy moves to improve. I am not looking forward to seeing Marshall twice a year.

Lee Evans is ranked at #56 amongst WR's
lets_go_bills replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One website's opinion. Not the final word on anyone or anything. Evans has always played with poor players around him, that's not his fault. Talent wise, he's a top-10 WR. There was an article on espn.com a while back, over a year ago, that said "Lee Evans won't make the Hall of Fame, but he has that kind of talent". Evans is a great WR. -
LOL!!! HAHAHA!! Hey Schobel!

It's almost like a poor man's version of the Brett Favre retirement saga. -
Chris Kelsay ranked 71 of 73

It still amazes me how year after year Chris Kelsay still has a roster spot on this team.
