Our need at WR is obvious but we don't need another burner. We've got Evans for speed. We need a big, physical possession receiver who can move the chains and make tough catches over the middle. Crayton's inconsistency is a concern for me. He can be great one game and then disappear for two or three.

I agree with that statement. We folded down the stretch big time after starting 5-1. The defense will go through a transition period. There are so many questions along the D line. Can Williams man the nose? Can Troup contribute as a rookie? Can Stroud be a good 3-4 end after being a 4-3 tackle his whole career? Is Dwan Edwards' neck gonna hold up? How does Carrington figure in? And OLB is super important in a 3-4 for generating a pass rush. Is Maybin gonna do something? Will he be a liability in coverage? What about Schobel? It goes on. We still have no legit starter at QB. Trent will get one more shot and some good coaching from Gailey but will that be enough? Our line has serious problems at both tackle spots. A Raiders cast off on the right and the raw, penalty prone Bell on the left? No thanks. We are deep at RB but teams will stack the line of scrimmage and have eight in the box all day until we can show an air attack. Evans can be eliminated with a double team and with no one even remotely respectable opposite him, we're screwed. Like I said, we're still a few pieces and a few years away from competing for the playoffs. I'm optimistic too, but not blind. Once again, you are seriously overestimating this team's talent and abilitiy. We'll get there eventually, but not this year. Don't set yourself up for disappointment. We could surprise some people, but don't expect it. FWIW, Tim Graham says we're two or three years away still.

You make some good points but you seriously overestimate this team's talents and readiness to compete. You're right in that it can't get much worse. But this is only year one of a new regime. One draft is not going to turn it around. This is a rebuilding process. We appear to be on the up and up but how many years in a row have we said it was going to be different and that this year was finally our year? Nix and Gailey will work hard and I wish them success but it'll take two more good drafts before we have our needs addressed and the roster filled out. We still don't have a franchise QB or LT. And those are the two most important positions in football. We play in a very tough division and it'll be two more years before we're ready to compete and contend for a playoff spot. Keep up the optimism, we'll get there. Just not this year.

Russell is large and lazy, with no drive, motivation or work ethic, but he is by no means a character concern. He's never been an off-field problem. That was a ignorant thing to say.

Fourth year with the season's tix. Fingers crossed for an upgrade but not expecting anything. A small move closer to the 50 or perhaps slide down a few rows is possible, but I don't imagine there being much movement for me. Maybe next year. Just like the Bills and the playoffs. We couldn't beat the Pats even when they were sans Brady! Every team in our division improved except us. And Big Ben will be back by the time we play them. And we've lost to the Browns two years in a row for god's sake! Lets not forget last year's 6-3 embarassment. It'll be two, three years before we're ready to compete.

True. Takes at least three years to grade a draft. How do you feel about Spiller? He's certainly a talented football player but was this a luxury pick? A luxury we couldn't afford given the needs at QB and LT. I guess it really speaks to how Nix felt about the QBs available in the draft. Any thoughts about this? Thanks.

Modkins is titled as OC but Gailey will be calling his own plays. It's his offense. Modkins is running game co-ordinator though.

As of right now QBs go Mallett, Locker, Luck. Unless Trent pulls a Brees and suddenly finds his game, we're destined to land one of 'em. PS. McShay is a moron.

I respect Brown because he's the offical Bills reporter. But I never liked him and I never cared for anything he's had to say about the team. He's fairly boring as a reporter and only reports things we already know. He's even a fairly poor interviewer. I suppose he's bound by strict rules, seeing how he's employed by the Bills and is probably just a puppet. He's just the face the Bills use to put out their censored and scripted Bills material.

Although the top three picks are still on the roster and are starters, they have been less than spectacular. All have shown flashes of talent at some point. 1. Lynch looked like a perennial pro bowler until he got into overwhelming legal trouble and has since worn out his welcome in Buffalo. He's still very young and talented though. Right now he remains on the roster and unless Nix gets a decent offer, he figure to stick around for one more year in limited action due to a now deep Bills backfield. 2. Posluszny had trouble staying healthy but puts up good numbers when he's on the field. He is going to be learning a new defense but his responsibilites as far as tackling go, remains unchanged. He's been good but not great. This is his time to shine now. 3. Edwards showed potential and had many thinking he was "the guy". Then he got blown up by Wilson and hasn't quite been the same since. He's become Cap'n Checkdown, but perhaps that's because he took on the conservative personna of his horrible coach, Dick Jauron. He's got one more year and one more chance to show what he can do. Grade: C+
