CONTEST Bills vs Broncos Total RUSHING YARDS

Best part about Haynesworth is if he triggers a couple of clauses in his contract he's allowed to become an unrestricted free agent and the Titans cannot franchise him. So landing him seems reasonable. Of course he'll be in very high demand and may just go to the highest bidder. In that case, we're f**ked.

Bills looking to trade Peters
lets_go_bills replied to AlbanyBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if the picks turn into busts? Is it worth it then. Comparing LTs and WRs is unfair. Branch was traded because the Pats knew they'd be fine without him. The Hawks got hoodwinked. I hated his holdout as much as everyone. I booed him a lot at the home games. But I think the Bills should give him money before the OTAs. Problem solved. Once he got going in the back half of the season he was dominant again. I think he's the real deal now. He's only 26, still young and has yet to peak. Locking him up now takes care of him and you won't hear from him again and you won't have to worry about the LT spot for the next eight years. The Pro Bowl nod he got bodes poor for us though. Now he has the ammo to hold out AGAIN. -
I wish I saw the humour in this like you do. But I don't

Bills looking to trade Peters
lets_go_bills replied to AlbanyBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying you're absurd. The idea of trading Peters is. And since Wilson shelled out for Dockery and most recently Evans, why not Peters too. He's young and talented. Just give him his money and he'll shut the hell up, andhe will show up at OTAs and camp. Problem solved. By locking Peters up you suddenly don't have to worry about the LT position for the next 8 years. And lord knows our QBs need all the protection they can get. -
Brian Billick and Mike Nolan

People seem to think the switch to a 3-4 would be easy and only take a year or two. I have to whole-heartedley disagree. I think that it would take years, which none of us have the patience for anymore. While yes, I would agree the secondary is set, everything else is so far off. Stroud is the only DL that could play in a 3-4 and even then he might not be able to cut it. Schobel and Kelsay are far too small and light to be 3-4 DEs and are not two-point stance guys, negating their ability to play OLB. They would get eaten alive. Puz is the only LB who could play for sure. Mitchell would have to come inside. Therefore Buffalo would need two of those "tweener" OLB/DE hybrids which are very hard to come by. We simply could not make the switch in good time. Besides, the D is actually quite good, the O just sucks so much that the D is always in bad spots and playing on short rest. -
Bills looking to trade Peters
lets_go_bills replied to AlbanyBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is absolutley absurd. You simply don't trade franchise players, you don't trade your best players and you don't trade a star left tackle. Ridiciulous. Decent LTs are hard to come by, let alone dominant ones. There's a reason LT is the second highest paid position: it's the second most important position. -
Brian Billick and Mike Nolan

Very intriguing. My only concern is Nolan's affinity for the 3-4, which we don't have the personnel to operate. -
My mock draft/and offseason plan
lets_go_bills replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Total freak athlete. But such an unknown and too much of a project player. 4 sacks last year, 7 this year. Orakpo went 5.5 and 10.5 in the same span. I just don't like the lack of starting and the lack of polish. I think Orakpo can get up field much better. Also, Johnson didn't face terribly stiff competition with a rather soft schedule in the ACC. So naturally the cynic in me wonders how he would fare against the "men" of the NFL. -
DraftTek Positional Needs Poll
lets_go_bills replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills will go FS early on if they don't bring one in during FA. I think it'll be a "surprise" pick to most, but well worth it as it would do two things: a) fill a need and; b) allow us to get more out of Whitner. -
Oh for god's sake. When is he gonna get over TD's firing?

Just for HA HA's Lets go Back to the 2006 Draft
lets_go_bills replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Looking back" there are tons of guys we "could" of drafted. Geez. These 20/20 hindsights are crazy: Ernie Sims, Jay Cutler, Haloti Ngata, Antonio Cromartie, Deangelo Williams, Demeco Ryans, Marcus McNeil, Brandon Marshall. It's a big list. I'm happy with the Whitner pick. Wasn't at the time, but am now. -
It's great to know that someone who played the brutally physical game of football can still live a long life. Rest in peace.

I personally do not like the 3-4. A switch to the 3-4 would also take several years because we don't have the personnel. Not even close, as some others have suggested.

DraftTek Positional Needs Poll
lets_go_bills replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went DE, TE and S. More specifically FS. While OLB and C are needs, I firmly stand by my choices. DE is a no-brainer. So is TE. As for FS, I feel that a true FS, a rangy ballhawk, will allow to Whitner to emerge as a star. It would permit him to move closer to the line where he's more effective. He would be allowed to boost run support and make plays in the short to medium pass lane. Leaving the deep stuff to the FS. The lack of good FS play has hurt Whitner's play this year. I think OLB can easily be addressed in FA. As for C, Preston should do better if he gets the first team reps all offseason and if he is firmly entrenched as the starter at C going into the '09 season. -
My mock draft/and offseason plan
lets_go_bills replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you're pretty off on most of this stuff. But welcome to the boards. 1. Warner will resign in 'zona. 2. Puz stays in the middle. He's good there and changing positions on him is not an idea I like. Forget Crowder, I'll be looking for the Bills to take a hard run a Vilma. He's a beast outside and would fortify our LB corps. As for the draft 1. I'm way to scared to draft Johnson. He's a freak athlete but he wasn't even a starter last year. He has bust written all over him. And he plays for GT, not exactly a powerhouse. And yes I know Calvin Johnson came outta GT. Orakpo is a better choice, he's a polished senior, won a bunch of awards, plays for Texas, and has through the roof athletic ability too. He's a safer pick too. I want a guy who is NFL ready and can come in and compete and start right away. Johnson is a project. 2. The draft doesn't look to have many top flight DEs. And if there isn't any value at all when we draft I'd love to see us go TE and draft Jermain Gresham. At 6'6" 260lbs and Oklahoma's leading receiver it's hard to argue with his caliber. He's just what we need. Obviously a C is a must. So is LB depth. And I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills brought in someone to play FS because at this point it looks like Ko is not gonna do it and Scott is a good backup, but that's it. We need a rangy FS who can cover tons of ground and be a ballhawk, permitting Whitner to play closer to the line, where he's far more effective, keeping him in his natural SS spot instead of all the movin around they do to him. The lack of good FS play has hurt Whitner all year long. -

If Hamdan starts vs Denver
lets_go_bills replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point it doesn't matter. We know JP sucks so why not see what Hamdan has got? I'd love to see him get in there. They should put him in because JP is gone anyways and we need to kow what we have in Hamdan, a number two or number three QB. -
No way! It's not that I'm opposed to "reaching" for a guy, but we have a much more pressing need: Defensive End. My god do we need an impact pass rusher who can turf QBs 12+ times a year. We need a pass rush in the worst kind of way.

Reports surfaced in October that DJ had signed an extension. It was in October, in the midst of our strong play. Knowing he was in the final year of his deal, I'm sure Ralph wanted to extend him early so that DJ wouldn't be coaching the season without knowing his future. It was a good faith move on Mr. Wilson's behalf. They wanted to keep it hush hush at first, like always, citing "team policy", but I think after he signed it, it all went down hill fast and the Bills became embarrassed and didn't want to announce it because they knew fans would not approve. They also wanted to see if DJ could maybe right the ship and then announce it. But no. Of course, all we can do is speculate and try and fill in the blanks left by reports from outlets like ESPN.com or Schefter on NFL.com I truly believe that our worst fears are true, that DJ did sign it and Ralph won't want to eat it. But he may lose money on ticket sales in DJ is brought back, so he's probably weighing his options. This whole thing really sucks. It's like there's a pink elephant in the room, we're all pointing at it, but Ralph won't even acknowledged its existence.

What if the 2nd and 5 playcall WORKED
lets_go_bills replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would've been happy, of course, but I would have said that it was a bad, risky call. Trusting JP to get it done is always a bad idea. Especially when Marshawn is on fire.
