  1. You'd be "all over him" huh? I thought this was a football message board, not a dating site... Totally missed the point, dude. Size doesn't matter (no doubt you've heard these encouraging words before.) He lacks the ability to consistently make plays. You can be the tallest, strongest, fastest guy in the world and it wouldn't matter if you can't catch the ball. Rob Johnson was big, had a cannon arm and was very mobile and athletic...need I say more? Now... If they cut Jones, we should look at him and see if he has anything to offer at a reasonable price. If he wants too much or has nothing to offer, no loss on our part. The thing about Jones is that he became this big name because he was "that guy" in the draft. All the freakish athleticism got grown men warm in spots that have nothing to do with football (see example above.) He's a gimmick guy because he's A)6' 6" B) Has 4.4 speed C) He is A & B + white. Everyone made a big deal out of him and he flopped. This happens all the time. Don't believe the hype!
  2. I guess Marshawn took his friends a little too seriously when they told him "Dude, I can't believe you drove home the other night. You couldn't see straight when I left!" We all know the rest...
  3. I don't remember the year (and I'm too lazy to look it up) but one of my favorite catches ever was the Todd Johnson to Quinn Early 95 yard TD pass. Johnson threw the ball as far as he could and Quinn Early went after it like a man on a mission. The defender hit Early as he laid (layed?) out to catch the ball but he hit him before the catch. Early held on to make an awesome, diving catch even though the defender made contact him. He then gets up and runs it into the endzone for the score. It still stands as the longest pass in Bills' history (I think.)
  4. I'm pretty sure that Marshawn will not be missing any time because of this. If he does miss time, he'll maybe miss 2 games (Jerramy Steven got 2 games from the commish for a getting another DWI.) If, for some reason, he misses an extended period of time I say we bolster our RB corps with a free agent. Which free agent? Lamont Jordan! Word is out that he's going to get released by the Raiders. I know he hasn't done much recently, but you can't deny that he has some talent. I'd take Jordan over a washed-up Shaun Alexander or a "Tail Between My Legs" Travis Henry at this point. Maybe it's just me.
  5. That was a good review, but I have to wonder about their prep work when they talk about Omon: "With Anthony Thomas gone Buffalo really doesn't have too much to get excited about beyond Lynch so Omon could have an opportunity to compete for the #2 or #3 spot on the depth chart right away as a rookie." They don't even mention Fred Jackson. Jackson was great last year when we needed him and I'm surprised that they didn't even mention him as being somebody to "get excited about" or as competition for the #2 or #3 RB. Like I said, good review except for that part.
  6. I give up. Go back to playing Madden. Vince Young rules!!!
  7. Vince Young is an NFL player. I am not looking for him to be a "role model" or a grand orator (whatever that means) or anything other than a football player. That being said, I think that he is stupid because: A. 6 or 16 is a low score on a fairly simple aptitude test. B. The guy never says anything of substance. Almost every time I've seen/heard him talk he has basically said (and re-said) the same statement: "God given talent...blah blah blah...living the dream...giving 100%...I just want to thank God...yada yada yada." He just comes off as an un-intelligent, simple person. That doesn't make him a bad guy, it just makes him an easy target. C. I just don't like him. Or anyone who gets over-hyped like he does. It's really not that complicated. I'm sorry for having an opinion. The facts are the same for anyone who cares to look. To me the signs say "bonehead" others may read the signs differently. That's what makes the world such a fun & crazy place...we are all different. P.S. Before anyone gets on me saying I am some anti-religious, atheist lunatic I assure you that is not the case. I thank God every day for what He has given my family and friends, I just don't choose to inform everyone of that every single time somebody asks me a question.
  8. BRILLIANT! Now that's funny. On a serious note...yeah. I agree with the article. So does that mean that this Lindy character is a Bills homer much like everyone else on this board? Go Bills!
  9. PFT is reporting a rumor that there was an altercation "not physical" between Henry and Shanahan over the last couple of weeks. He already embarrassed the team by failing his drug test and then not getting suspended because of a technicality. Fighting with your coach after making them all look bad for having you as a teammate is not a good idea. I think the NFL should take all of these boneheads and make them a traveling NFL-Circus team. They could play against local colleges and they could do a pay per view special against the NCAA National Champions. Think about it. Just off the top of my head this who I've got: RB - Travis Henry WR - Adarius Bowman WR - Chris Henry LB - Odell Thurman CB - Pacman Jones
  10. Here's my "credibility." Check this out: Link
  11. YEAH! How about an apology thread from all you guys who called the Bengals classless scumbags for cutting Thurman. It had nothing to do with OTA's or his grandmother's passing. It was Odell being Odell. What a waste of talent! It feels good being right.
  12. Coming out of college: “I accept what God blessed me to be: a leader, a quarterback. It comes with a lot of fame, a lot of awards, a lot of things.” A few weeks ago there was this: Link About retiring after 1 season in the NFL: "I really thought long and hard about it.There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things. My teammates helped lift me out of it. I prayed really hard. And I began to focus on God's calling for me. Play football. Be a role model." Then after somebody asked him about his stupid comments concerning retirement: "I was never going to quit football, football, that is my pride and joy, it is my dream. I am playing my dream. And I don't plan on giving that up any time soon.'' Apparently he's living the "dream" and he is proud to me a role model for kids. I gues chugging bottles of vodka is one of those "brilliant" things that Vince can teach youngsters. The guy is a moron. I don't care what he got on the Wonderlic. He's 2 years away from attempting to resurrect his career as a wideout...
  13. He was a winner in college...he has done 'OK' in the NFL. In high school and college, athleticism sometimes trumps ability. Vince Young is a classic example of that. QUOTE (stewy23 @ May 28 2008, 04:35 PM) I hope you are joking... I can't stand Vince Young. I think he's a horrible QB and watching and listening to him in the media these days, obviously he's not the brightest guy either. I'd rather have Craig Nall over Vince Young. I like Collins though. ??? Was that a shot at me? There wasn't really a point included in there. Bingo! Vince Young rules in Madden! And sometimes that's all some people know... AMEN! Finally a couple of people who understand! Halleluja!
  14. Ha! I'm glad that the guys are loose and that their capable of getting along well enough to schedule the attack. Now if we could only get JP and Trent to acknowledge each other...
  15. NICE!!! I can't friggin' wait! Go Bills!
  16. That is an interesting read. Nice find. I had no idea that HGH Releasers even existed. It's definitely something that is on the radar in professional sports for obvious reasons. It's sad to see that the greed involved with pro sports has taken away from the tradition. It's not the "may the best team win" anymore, it's whoever cheats and gets away with it. It seems like every day that we hear about a new way to cheat. It's not even about the sport of it anymore. A little depressing if you ask me...
  17. Funny. In all seriousness, I hope he's ok. Any depth at fullback is good for us.
  18. I hope you are joking... I can't stand Vince Young. I think he's a horrible QB and watching and listening to him in the media these days, obviously he's not the brightest guy either. I'd rather have Craig Nall over Vince Young. I like Collins though.
  19. I thought this was funny (and true.) I was a little worried at first, because the media loves to take shots at the Bills. But we're not on the list. LINK I would also like to add the Jets to that list. Pennington is washed up and Clemens doesn't look like the real-deal they thought he would be. Other than that, I agree 100%. Thoughts?
  20. He's a decent player, but obviously not good enough for the Raiders to want to keep him. If the Raiders are willing to let you go and spend a gazillion dollars on a crappy safety like Gibril Wilson, then you can't be that good. This is the same crap we hear any time somebody gets cut. "Great character. High motor. Blah blah blah." Not to sound like a jerk, but some people on these boards attribute way too much based on the players' skin color. They got cut for a reason. If we don't need them, why bother. We don't need any more depth at safety because we've got Wilson and the other guy (I can't remember his name right now.) By the way, Schweigert was awesome in Madden a couple of years ago. That's another reason why everyone thinks he's good.
  21. McGee is way better than Greer. Everyone has the warm & fuzzies because Greer came in a played well last year. He's not that good. He played above and beyond but has proven (and will continue to prove) that he is a backup-quality corner. That's not a diss on him, I think he's decent and that he filled in admirably, I just don't believe in him as a starter. McGee on the other hand is one of those guys who people hate because he takes chances sometimes. Most of the time, he's a solid yet unspectacular corner who plays well all the time. Overall Quality: #1 McGee #2 McKelvin (projecting obviously) #3 James #4 Greer #5 Youboty #6 Corner (although I envision him as our starting nickel corner)
  22. P.S. I'm so proud that this thread has reached 5 pages. I don't post that much and I pretty much never start threads so this is a personal best for me. Keep the posts coming people!
  23. I say they sit him down and tell him "We'll see after this year. We know you are worth it, but if we give you more money now EVERYONE on the team who feels underpaid will start demanding that their deals get redone." It's sets a bad precedent for the front office. If they cave without a fight, it'll start a real bad trend. If they work something out that's good for both sides: everybody wins.
  24. It would be nice to hear what they think of him. We're checking these reports out to see how our shiny new toys are going to look come September. Why not throw us a bone?
  25. I couldn't agree more. It's starting to get out of hand. It's not enough to lock up one of your own for a bunch of years. They all want mega-blockbuster deals as if they play for the Redskins or Cowboys. Wake up, people. This is Buffalo! A decade of nothing and everyone wants to get paid like they cured cancer or something. It's B.S. I like Peters, but this is crap he's pulling. If you didn't believe in yourself enough to ask for money before you signed your deal, why should we have faith in you now?
