  1. I don't think Reed is a top 10 receiver. He just misses the cut. He had a lot of receptions (5th all time) and his postseason success is amazing. His problem is his lack of touchdowns...I was looking at the list of all time touchdown leaders and he's not even in the top 20 Link. I know the list includes running backs, but you see Moss and Owens up there and they still have a few years left in them. Reed was great and he had a ton of catches and he should be and will be in the hall of fame one day. I just don't see him being a top 10 all-time guy.
  2. I agree. If we get rid of Losman for a pick, or for nothing it just creates another hole. And no, we do not want to move up in the draft. We are in a good spot at #11. As a lot of sites are reporting, nobody wants to be in the top 10 anymore. The guaranteed money needed to sign these guys is crippling. I think there are teams interested in Losman but they aren't giving up more than a 4th or 5th for him. He has talent (size, arm strength and mobility) but he's been mediocre at best. Somebody has to be really desperate to give up a higher pick to get him when they can just wait around 1 year and get him for nothing.
  3. Everyone is high on the Ko because he showed a lot of promise in his rookie year. He wasn't a superstar but he wasn't a dud either. Everyone expected him to take a big step forward last season but his injury ruined any chances of that happening. I hope that he can pick up where he left off at the end of his rookie year. He's got the physical tools to play the position. All he needs is to do is get better and learn more each and every game. I think that he'll be a good starter for years to come.
  4. His name is Julius Peppers... Gholston definitely could be the real deal. Or he could fail, but so far he looks legit. I think he'll be a good player for somebody for the next few years. The AFC East is horrendous. The reason no one else is interested in our division is because other than the Pats, we don't have much to offer. I don't fault these guys for bringing it up. If we don't like it, we need to start winning some more games and making the playoffs. Then we'll get some attention.
  5. It would have been nice to have Bryant Johnson, but there's no need to be upset that he signed elsewhere. He wanted a 1 year deal so that IF he played well, he could jump ship and get a nice payday next year. I understand why he wanted it that way, but that isn't the type of guy you bring in if you are also looking to bring in a rookie at the same position. He would not have been the type of guy to teach anybody anything. He's looking to come to work, prove himself and move on to chase the big paycheck. Oh well. It would have been nice to have him, but if a 1 year deal was all he wanted, we're better off without him.
  6. Ashton Youboty... This kid was highly touted coming out of college. He had a rough time as a rookie with his family and everything. Last year wasn't much better with the injuries. This year he needs to show that he is capable of making plays on a consistent basis.
  7. I say no to DeSean Jackson. Small guy, lightning-fast, explosive after the catch... Don't get me wrong, I think Jackson will be a good player but we have Lee Evans AND Roscoe Parrish already. No more room for undersized speedsters on this team.
  8. Take our 2007 offense Add a new offensive coordinator Add a rookie WR (most likely) Add increased productivity from tight end position (maybe) Add maturity of Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson Add maturity of Trent Edwards = better than last year. How can we not get better if we didn't lose anything? No we're not going to become the Colts overnight, but we will definitely be better than we were last year.
  9. What they are getting at is that although the players on our team are backup-caliber talent, they all saw the field last year due to the injuries. Does that make them pro bowl caliber players all of a sudden? No. But it does give them valuable in game experience which will help the overall defense this year. These guys won't be nervous if they are pressed into action this year to give guys a breather or take over because of an injury. That is what real depth is, guys who are willing, ready and able to step in a make some plays when called upon. Some of you guys are looking at this the wrong way.
  10. I'm all about the Bills but there are still certain players that I find extremely interesting to follow regardless of what team they play for. If they play for my team, that's all the better. NFL - Ray Lewis NBA - Chriis Webber (just retired), Allen Iverson, Ron Artest MLB - A-Rod, Jeter NHL - Jagr, Crosby
  11. I love it! The love for this guy on this board is contagious! My favorite players are: 1. JP 2. Marshawn Lynch 3. Lee Evans Don't bash me for being a JP fan. I still think he can succeed as an NFL QB with the right coaching and the right team around him. Unfortunately for me, that team and those coaches might be in another city.
  12. Nice read. I agree that Greer and McGee played well last year. I also agree that our pass rush was nonexistent. I also agree that we need to sustain longer drives on the offensive side of the ball to help the defense. What I don't agree with is the talk that we SHOULDN'T take a corner in round 1. I've been saying it over and over that we need to take the BEST PLAYER in round 1 whether it is a corner, wideout or defensive end. I think it's silly to say "no, I'm not taking a corner with my 1st pick because we need a wide receiver." We need to build a better team, and to do that you need better players. The top of the 1st round is where the best players should be taken.
  13. If anything, Belichick and the Pats will be fined further for their cheating. I don't see the team getting rid of the best (or one of the best according to some) coaches in the league after winning as many titles as he has. I believe that this team goes into camp with the QB spot up for grabs. JP was limited by himself just as much as by the playcalling and play around him. Trent is young and can still be the teams' long term answer even if he doesn't start this year. In a perfect world, they are both great and we keep one and trade the other. I don't care who stays and who goes as long as we are winning and making it to the playoffs. The injury problems last year had to be a fluke. There's no way that many guys get seriously hurt. Sometimes it's just bad luck. I'm being optimistic, but I see a much, much healthier team this season. I don't think that the helmet radios will do anything other than make it easier for teams to communicate before the snap. It will be better for peoples' minds more than it will actually help the teams. I think Dick is capable of letting Turk do his thing. I am more worried that Turk isn't ready to be the play-caller for an NFL team. I hope he is ready and that we can finally start opening up this offense. But again, I tend to be a bit more optimistic than others on this board.
  14. It is a shame. I'm curious to see what the cause of death was... Sometimes the same reason these guys are good football players is the same reason that they are a serious health risk. Their size. It's sad to hear and my prayers go out to his family and friends who must be devastated.
  15. Keep it where it is. I'm actually thinking of going this year!
  16. I agree that the bashing of Schobel needs to stop. He is not Dwight Freeney. He is a good, all-around player who works hard and plays even harder. Would I like to see some improvement? Sure. Heck, if he can play better than he has been, now is as good a time as any. But hatin' on him because he skips out on voluntary workouts and works out at home is silly. Let his play speak for him.
  17. This kid has "ideal complement to Lee Evans" written all over him. Big guy who can be a huge red zone target. You don't need to be lightning fast when you're going to be on the field with Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish. That's their job. His job will be to catch the ball when it's thrown to him. Some people are clamoring for a possession Tight End when this kid can double as a possession guy AND the occasional threat to break one deep with his "deceptive speed." This kind of stuff can be taught if he is willing to learn. He has the size and strength, all he needs is to perfect his technique and the mental aspect of it. Overall I thiink that grabbing this kid in Round 3 or 4 would give the team a ton of freedom to address other positions of need in the other rounds. Sign him up!
  18. I agree with most on the board about the importance of drafting a Corner this year. We do need a corner, and a Wide Receiver, and a Defensive End, and a Tight End. Where I differ in opinion with everyone else is the importance of where we draft each one of these positions. The only position that I know for sure won't be worth the #11 pick in the draft is the Tight End. Other than that, I think the team should draft the best player available at the other three positions. When Round 2 rolls around, we do the same exact thing (obviously eliminating the position filled in round 1.) No one knows who will be available at #11. DRC might be there, Derrick Harvey might be there, Malcolm Kelly and Limas Sweed will most likely be there. What the team needs to do is address whichever position that would give us the most value for the pick. I agree with the poster that the Defensive Line is just as guilty as the Defensive Backfield for our poor pass defense last season and that both need to be addressed early in the draft. I think it will all come down to who is there when we pick. We don't NEED a Wide Receiver at #11 just as much as we don't NEED a Defensive End or Cornerback. We'll have to wait and see.
  19. I think that the rating is accurate. If/when the Bills get consistent quality play from the QB position, we will really see what Lee is capable of. Lee would be a top-15 (possibly top-10) on a team with a better passing attack. Unfortunately for us Bills' fans, we are still waiting for that consistent play. Here's hoping that this will be the year!
  20. I live in Giants/Jets country and most people agree that Manning played better later in the season and especially well late in the 4th quarter. A lot of people are looking at what the Giants did without Shockey instead of looking at how much better they'd be if he had been healthy. Super Bowl wins tend to make everyone forget about any of the bad times that occurred during the season. Shockey, when healthy, is a great weapon on offense and he would make just about any team better. I didn't say that Eli is better off without Tiki. Tiki is twice the running back that Brandon Jacobs/Derrick Ward/Ahmad Bradshaw combined. My point is that the coaching staff were forced to rely less on the RB position after Tiki retired. They had the guys that they needed all along. Manning wasn't ready so the offense relied strictly on Tiki as a back and as a receiver.
  21. Regardless of how he did it, he's hurt. I don't care about the why's and what-not. He's a young, darn good player who is only going to get better. I hope this injury doesn't take away from his already promising career. Oh yeah, and I hope it doesn't affect him next season because he's on my fantasy team and I was thinking about using one of my "keeper" picks on him. (crossing fingers until August)
  22. He will go to the bench if need be. This is all speculation, but it seems that the organization was just as curious about this one as we are. Whitner's playmaking ability would be better utilized at Free Safety, but then they would need to have another option at Strong Safety. Bottom line: I don't think the team plans on moving Ko and Donte around. If both of them are healthy, both of them will be starting at their respective positions.
  23. Eli's growth as a QB had nothing to do with Shockey. His progression was aided by: 1. Natual maturation 2. No more Tiki Barber That team relied so heavily on Tiki, they didn't utilize their players. I agree that Shockey can be a nuisance with his mouth, but he adds far more to the team than he takes away. The best thing that ever happened to the Giants was Tiki's retirement. He was a great back, but they put all their eggs in his basket and he didn't deliver. Now the eggs (in the spirit of Easter, I will continue with the egg theme ) are evenly distributed by Manning to Jacobs/Bradshaw, Plax, Shockey/Boss, and Toomer. Addition by subtraction.
  24. I don't see us going after a SS or FS in the draft. According to everything I have read, this is one of the weakest drafts in a long time at those positions. The Bills' hot pursuit of McRee leads me to believe that Chris Brown was right about the idea of moving Whitner to Free Safety. The problem is that there aren't any real good safety prospects in this years draft. We do need to address the Defensive backfield but we need a starting Corner first and Safety depth second. There aren't any starting-caliber safeties in the later rounds. If there are, somebody point them out to me...
  25. I disagree. The Bills were horrendous on both sides of the ball last year. We were at the bottom in almost every category. The Mitchell, Stroud and S. Johnson pickups give us a boost on the defensive side of the ball, but we are far from finished. The real point of the draft is to get the most out of every pick you have. Just because you want a guy, doesn't mean you take him earlier than you need to. You take who you think is the best fit and value for your team. The way I see it, we need a CB, WR and DE. The point is to take the best available of these three in the first 3 rounds. If the best pick at #11 just happens to be Derrick Harvey...go for it. When round 2 rolls around, you do the same thing. Last year was a perfect example of how to draft. Our biggest needs were Running back and Linebacker. I truly believe that we draft Patrick Willis if San Fran doesn't get him first. Then we grab a running back in round 2. As we all know, we missed out on our first option, so we went to plan B and picked up Marshawn. Then we used our extra picks to move up and grab another high value pick with Poz. Same goes for Edwards in round 3. Did they really think that we needed to use a 3rd rounder on a QB, or was he just too good to pass up in that spot. I think it was the latter.
