Same thing here in Charlotte. Any decent restaurant or bar is up to nearly a buck a wing. Reeediculous considering that wings were once disposable scrap.

Throwdown with Bobby Flay - Buffalo Wings
BLZFAN4LIFE replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can't stand Bobby Flay. I saw him on the original Japanese Iron Chef about 3 years ago. On a one hour show he managed to electrocute and cut himself in a losing effort. What a joke. He's a one trick pony with his southwestern chipotle BS. -

I can relate to that. I'll turn 38 this month. When I was younger, it was all Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Metallica, The Who, Ramones, and such. As I've gotten older, I appreciate artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Elton John, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, and Jim Croce. I'll end the list there to avoid possible revocation of my man card. Here are a couple more well written songs... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a port, on a western bay And it serves a hundred ships a day Lonely sailors, pass the time away And talk about their homes And there's a girl in this harbor town And she works layin' whiskey down They say "Brandy, fetch another round" She serves them whiskey and wine The sailors say "Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl) "What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl) "Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea" Brandy wears a braided chain Made of finest silver from the North of Spain A locket that bears the name Of the man that Brandy loves He came on a summer's day Bringin' gifts from far away But he made it clear he couldn't stay No harbor was his home The sailor said " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl) "What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl) "But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea" Yeah, Brandy used to watch his eyes When he told his sailor stories She could feel the ocean foam rise She saw its ragin' glory But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man And Brandy does her best to understand At night when the bars close down Brandy walks through a silent town And loves a man who's not around She still can hear him say She hears him say " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl) "What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl) "But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea" She hears him say " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl) "What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl) "But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea" Brandy by Looking Glass Am I a long way from your heart, I wonder, Is this where love ends, heartache starts, I wonder, I wonder if you ever think about me, And how good our old loving used to be, Sometimes, Sometimes I wonder When you left with one last curious look, I wonder, I tried to call you, you changed the number on me, I really wonder You tell me things to get me where you want me to be, How come I feel your getting the best of me, sometimes, I wonder I hear a car coming round the corner, I hear footsteps on my front porch, I see a shadow from the light above, I hear a voice, Oh it's not yours Why does this happen, What's going on, I wonder, Could this be a dream, or has Bob gone crazy, I wonder, How come I feel your taking advantage of me, Why can't I get you out of me, Sometimes, Sometimes I wonder (guitar solo) They say that time will heal my broken heart, I wonder, Could it be that I'm blind, All alone in the dark, I wonder I can't help feeling this way, If I could leave, I'd surely leave today, Sometimes I wonder It seems to me you still wanna be around But when I see you, all hell starts breaking down, Sometimes I wonder, mm hmm I really wonder. I heard Lucky Man a lot when it fist came out. I like that song because it reminds me of the things that are important in life. I have a tendency to be pessimistic and when I hear that song, I realize how good I have it. Here's a couple more that I like: The words had all been spoken And somehow the feeling still wasnt right And still we continued on through the night Tracing our steps from the beginning Until they vanished into the air Trying to understand how our lives has led us there Looking hard into your eyes There was nobody Id ever known Such an empty surprise to feel so alone Now for me some words come easy But I know that they dont mean that much Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch You never knew what I loved in you I dont know what you loved in me Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be Awake again I cant pretend and I know Im alone And close to the end of the feeling weve known How long have I been sleeping How long have I been drifting alone through the night How long have I been dreaming I could make it right If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might To be the one you need Awake again I cant pretend and I know Im alone And close to the end of the feeling weve known How long have I been sleeping How long have I been drifting alone through the night How long have I been running for that morning flight Through the whispered promises and the changing light Of the bed where we both lie Late for the sky Jackson Browne Late For The Sky It is the springtime of my loving - the second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing - so little warmth I've felt before. It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low. It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom. Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune. Ain't so hard to recognize - These things are clear to all from time to time. Talk Talk - I've felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us... But I know that I love you so These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion - I seek the torch we all must hold. This is the mystery of the quotient - Upon us all a little rain must fall...It's just a little rain... Led Zeppelin The Rain Song -

It was raining hard in 'Frisco, I needed one more fare to make my night. A lady up ahead waved to flag me down, She got in at the light. Oh, where you going to, my lady blue, It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain. She just looked out the window, and said "Sixteen Parkside Lane". Something about her was familiar I could swear I'd seen her face before, But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken" And she didn't say anything more. It took a while, but she looked in the mirror, And she glanced at the license for my name. A smile seemed to come to her slowly, It was a sad smile, just the same. And she said, "How are you Harry?" I said, "How are you Sue? Through the too many miles and the too little smiles I still remember you." It was somewhere in a fairy tale, I used to take her home in my car. We learned about love in the back of the Dodge, The lesson hadn't gone too far. You see, she was gonna be an actress, And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off to find the sky. Oh, I've got something inside me, To drive a princess blind. There's a wild man, wizard, He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind. Oh, I've got something inside me, Not what my life's about, Cause I've been letting my outside tide me, Over 'till my time, runs out. Baby's so high that she's skying, Yes she's flying, afraid to fall. I'll tell you why baby's crying, Cause she's dying, aren't we all. There was not much more for us to talk about, Whatever we had once was gone. So I turned my cab into the driveway, Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns. And she said we must get together, But I knew it'd never be arranged. And she handed me twenty dollars, For a two fifty fare, she said "Harry, keep the change." Well another man might have been angry, And another man might have been hurt, But another man never would have let her go... I stashed the bill in my shirt. And she walked away in silence, It's strange, how you never know, But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for, Such a long, long time ago. You see, she was gonna be an actress And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off for the sky. And here, she's acting happy, Inside her handsome home. And me, I'm flying in my taxi, Taking tips, and getting stoned, I go flying so high, when I'm stoned. Harry Chapin Taxi Well Ive been out walking I dont do that much talking these days These days-- These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do For you And all the times I had the chance to And I had a lover Its so hard to risk another these days These days-- Now if I seem to be afraid To live the life I have made in song Well its just that Ive been losing so long Ill keep on moving Things are bound to be improving these days These days-- These days I sit on corner stones And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend Dont confront me with my failures I had not forgotten them Jackson Browne These Days When all the dark clouds roll away And the sun begins to shine I see my freedom from across the way And it comes right in on time Well it shines so bright and it gives so much light And it comes from the sky above Makes me feel so free makes me feel like me And lights my life with love Chorus: And it seems like and it feels like And it seems like yes it feels like A brand new day, yeah A brand new day oh I was lost and double crossed With my hands behind my back I was longtime hurt and thrown in the dirt Shoved out on the railroad track I've been used, abused and so confused And I had nowhere to run But I stood and looked And my eyes got hooked On that beautiful morning sun Chorus And the sun shines down all on the ground Yeah and the grass is oh so green And my heart is still and I've got the will And I don't really feel so mean Here it comes, here it comes 0 here it comes right now And it comes right in on time Well it eases me and it pleases me And it satisfies my mind Van Morrison Brand New Day -

Me too. If it's a nationaly televised preseason game, I'm not sticking around after the starters are pulled. But you've got to watch the Bills until the final gun. How else are you going to find the next Freddie Jackson?

Good one. Doctor Doctor, what is wrong with me This supermarket life is getting long What is the half life of a colour TV What is the shelf life of a teenage queen Ooh western woman Ooh western girl News hound sniffs the air When Jessica Hahn goes down He latches on to that symbol of detachment Attracted by the peeling away of feeling The celebrity of the abused shell, the belle Ooh western woman Ooh western girl Ooh western woman Ooh western girl And the children on Melrose Strut their stuff Is absolute zero cold enough And out in the valley, warm and clean The little ones sit by their TV screens No thoughts to think No tears to cry All sucked dry Down to the very last breath Bartender what is wrong with me? Why am I so out of breath? The captain said excuse me ma'am This species has amused itself to death Amused itself to death It has amused itself to death Amused itself to death We watched the tragedy unfold We did as we were told We bought and sold It was the greatest show on earth But then it was over We ohhed and aahed We drove our racing cars We ate our last few jars of caviar And somewhere out there in the stars A keen-eyed look-out Spied a flickering light Our last hurrah Our last hurrah And when they found our shadows Grouped 'round the TV sets They ran down every lead They repeated every test They checked out all the data on their lists And then, the alien anthropologists Admitted they were still perplexed But on eliminating every other reason For our sad demise They logged the only explanation left This species has amused itself to death Amused to Death Roger Waters. -

Jackson Browne --- Fountain of Sorrow. Looking through some photographs I found inside a drawer, I was taken by a photograph of you. There were one or two I know you would have liked a little more, but they didn't show your spirit quite as true. You were turning 'round to see who was behind you and I took your childish laughter by surprise, and at the moment that my camera happened to find you, there was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes. Steely Dan --- Babylon Sisters. Drive west on Sunset to the sea. Turn that jungle music down. Just until we're out of town. This is no one night stand. It's a real occasion. Close your eyes and you'll be there. It's everything they say. The end of a perfect day. Distant lights from across the bay. Babylon sisters shake it. Led Zeppelin --- I'm gonna crawl. Oh, she's my baby. Let me tell you why. Hey, she drives me crazy. She's the apple of my eye. 'Cause she is my girl., and she can never do wrong. If I dream too much tonight, somebody please bring me down. Bruce Springsteen Thunder Road Throw down the lyrics that are meaningful 2 u .

Poojer, you've been getting a lot of good advice here and I think mcjeff215 hits on a very important issue(as well as a couple of others who mentioned coming across with confidence). You mention that you've had a couple of casual encounters and phone conversations with her. You should be able to tell if there is any interest from her side. Has she given any signs that she's interested? Or is it just an average polite, professional, business-like attitude that you get from her? Others may disagree, but I think that asking her out to a concert (for the first "date") may not be a good idea. I would suggest something like lunch or drinks at a decent restaurant/bar after work. Get to know her a little better before you take her on a concert "date". Besides, what if she's just really into the band which you have tickets to? So my $0.02 is man up and ask for the "get to know you better" date. If she turns you down, FUHGEDDABOWDA! If she says yes, then you're in! One thing is certain: If you don't ask, you don't get!!!

You answered your own question. A rookie qb and a first round pick in his 4th season shouldn't have similar stats. That's why the word poise became so overused. Jp looked harried, confused, and disorganized. When TE came in he was cool, calm, and collected. I won't argue about TE's last 3 games. I was disappointed in those performances. What I am hoping for is that TE uses last year as a learning experience and improves his game. I have faith that he is intelligent and determined enough to do that. I like what I see so far in the muscle gain and he appears to carry himself with more confidence this year, coming in as the starter. We'll know more once he gets into the preseason games. As for JP, with the pressure off, he's got to do the best he can and be ready to step in. This season is an audition. He will definitely get another shot next year with another team. Vinny Testaverde stepped off of the couch to start for the panthers last season, so a former 1st round pick will have plenty of teams lining up for his services.
-
That sums it up. Regardless of the laundry list of excuses some people are willing to offer in JP"s defense, he was given much more rope than he deserved. The fact is that this first round pick botched his opportunity so badly that a 3rd round rookie pushed him aside.
-
I guess that's how "slotting" works.
